Last night was possibly one of the most fun nights I’ve had in WvW in a long time. It seems that the pip-trains are diminishing, but not the small groups roaming and defending. Our pickup havoc group, out just have a fun night together, stuck to RedBL and had an absolute blast. Stuff flipped, camps were fought over, roamers were ganked and we got 1-pushed by zergs more than once, all the while we enjoyed conversation and time together as a guild, talking about…… ‘stuff’. Had the outmanned buff off and on for most of prime NA, which was icing on the cake.
Honestly, there wasn’t a moment where we didn’t have something to do, someone to chase, or someone chasing us. And… it wasn’t always and only a kitten map blob.
Not every objective was Tier 3, so we could actually attempt to take a keep or northern tower and get a reasonable sized fight out of that attempt. Our only complaint, if you’d call it that, was that we often couldn’t find a camp to flip for supply because the small teams from our opposing servers were out flipping them, too. What we could do, is go to see if we could fight the team that flipped it, and that’s where we found more fun. There was just a ton of smallish group activity, and nothing stayed in one server’s hands for very long, except garrison.
Hoping that the other small teams of our opponents found the same level of fun and continue to play in WvW. If the result of these changes is that we’re going to see more small teams out and about, then it’s already a success, in my opinion.
