Determined areas clipped
so basically, people can no longer run to invuln spots and then taunt enemies who can’t do anything back? That sounds like a good thing to me.
Also means that you’ll see reds build more siege in places you can’t reach. Sounds like a bad thing to me.
but if the invuln area has been reduced, then the remaining area are basically spots where you can’t actually hit anything even with a treb. In the first place the invuln treb spots were all at the very edge of the invuln area.
Yeah it wasn’t just trimmed so people that left citadel couldn’t just run back and go invul. People from citadel trying to pewpew while invulnerable can now get pulled aswell. In some areas its pulled back pretty deep you could use meteor shower on people to get kills.
Ah is it pulled back so that trebs placed near NW tower are now in a non-invulnerable zone? Hilarious. Those guys are going to die
Interesting. Seems Anet has been reading the forum and cleaning up a lot.
You can place a treb to hit/defend NWT much further back now, making it significantly harder to reach for most classes. Previously, the invuln spot it was usually placed on was on the stairs, which any ranged class could hit. It doesn’t need to be placed there anymore. You can now easily place it out of range of even Meteor Shower.
NET can be defended with siege on that middle ledge as you jump down from spawn. I think you might even be able to defend it with a treb from the spawn cliffs before jumping down, but I haven’t gotten to testing that one yet. (Don’t know if it might overshoot.)
Edit: Can someone who’s red this week check to see if the spawn treb that defends Mendons can still be placed/maybe even placed further back? lol That one was already a pain to counter.
Edit: Messed around with some treb placements. You can in fact now defend NET with a treb from the spawn cliffs. You can even hit the space between the bridges where people normally place catas. I took a few screenshots showing some possible new treb placements.
Can defend NET gate from spawn cliffs:

Same treb can defend NET from a cata attack between the bridges:

(Treb on the right is better for it, but I didn’t feel like taking that many screenshots, lol. You can also defend from a south wall attack, but mortars at garrison can do that, too.)
Spawn treb can defend NWT from much deeper into spawn:

(Depending on the exact placement of point blank catas on the north and south sides, if the catas don’t bubble the treb shots, this treb can hit those, too.)
You can possibly even build a treb in spawn that can counter the long range trebs built to hit NWT:

ok, I think I understand now, so they trimmed the invuln area, but also trimmed the “no siege” area?
Correct. It’s the same zone.
doesn’t the lock icon mean no siege building though?
It means you can’t place siege while you have the buff, but you can still build it. As you can see, I have the lock icon (as well as invuln) on my character, but that treb is still very much built.
No i know, it why i was trying to figure it out how it got placed, sorry.
All you have to do is stand just past the invuln range and throw the build site in.
A long time ago, Anet fixed this by making it impossible to place the siege in invuln, even if you were out of it. I don’t know exactly when or why they reverted that, but it was a while ago, sadly. T_T
oh ok, i had no idea this was a issue, i saw the lock and just assume it was for the reason of players not able to reach it, yeah, that does need to be fixed, maybeing by adding to the buff that you can’t build it also.
Or they could let the siege lock have the old range, and the invuln have the new range, instead of sharing the same area for whatever reason. Otherwise, with the current boundaries, even if the lock stopped you from building it, you could still place the treb for nwt on the middle of the lower level, which is out of range of most aoes, including Meteor Shower. Not sure if it’s out of range of Dragon’s Tooth, though.
