Q:
Dev gone missing?
So, they should type for the sake of typing then?
And if they do people will complain about them not telling us anything.
If they respond to much people complain about them spending more time on the forums rather than working on the game.
And so on.
They simply can’t win.

Every area in the forums post this. Professions, spvp, pve, etc. Don’t forget the developers work regular hours like regular people and are also working on other projects dealing with the game. Raids, WvW, etc. I’d rather have them working on those projects while releasing these stream videos every so often to tell us whats up.
On the topic of WvW, the developers will be doing a live stream this saturday to talk about WvW and the future with it. Hopefully that will appease you somewhat.
oh for the life of me, what is this reply? 10 pages of posts and only 8 posts replied to shows a complete an utter lack of anything, good or bad ideas, of course dont reply to everything, but at least they could do more than this ….its totally pathetic “oh they simply cant win”…they dont even try…….
The Devs are maybe busy working on WvW instead of sitting on the forums?

Wish I could say the same, at work is the place where I spend all my time on the forums.
My fun laughs at your server pride.

Bullkitten. I haven’t seen a single post complaining that devs are spending time in the forums instead of working on the game, but I’ve seen literally hundreds of posts thanking the devs for being communicative … back when they were actually communicative.

If that’s true (and I hope it is) then I think ArenaNet should hire an additional community relations person to reply to people on the forums just so players feel like they have a better connection to the game. John Smith does a great job in the BLTC sub-forum responding to folks so it’s not like there is some sort of company policy against increased interaction with the community.

I hate my job, I work all hours for kitten all, then the tax man steals the rest, I get home im too tired to eat, I dream about killing my boss then I wake up to start another day of the same old crap.
So yes, the devs couldn’t give a kitten , they hate their job, hate all the whiners and the exploiters who cause them to do more work ontop of what they already have, they dream of killing us all.

Oh, but that is because those posts get deleted quite fast.
It is quite common for people to complain about the devs spending time posting on the forums rather than fixing stuff (less talk more action is usually the argument used).

Being engaged with the community and good patch notes are a hallmark of MMO companies that players love. Being uncommunicative or sloppy works for some shops, but also tends to create a negative attitude within the user base.
As an example, Turbine at least with AC always had fantastic community support and some of the best monthly patches of any game I have ever played. The game was far from perfect but the community was very forgiving and most importantly the game is still around nearly 14 years later.

And yet the very same company seems to more or less ignore most posts about Lord of the Rings Online.

Actually it is far more likely that no dev is looking at WvW at all. Then just before next patch in few months, one lonely dev will quickly put together the next WvW ability, and call it new content. The evidence speaks for itself.
How about we get a choice? We have these silly elections in PvE that give things nobody cares about. How about a dev appears and gives us a choice what new WvW content should they focus on? We could have a list of 20 things, and vote which one we’d like the team to focus on. That would be the ideal thing to do.

Oh no Turbine is an awful example :S Not to mention they still haven’t released new PvP map in 7 years despite promises and advertisements to the contrary. I fear ANet will do the same ;/
