So am I seeing this right? In order to get your elite in a reasonable manner, you’ve got to do the pve portion of the expansion, including that ridiculous mastery grind to even get to some of the hero points?

There’s no WvW equivalent of the 400 hero points you gain from expansion pve?

I think you are unaware. Proof of Heroics can be used for hero pts. It’s slower though.

Significantly slower that if you want to be competitive and actually use your Elite Spec you’re basically forced into doing this ridiculous gated content dance to get your Elite.

Or perhaps accept that this mmo is about playing most kinds of content to progress. Im not super hyped bout raids but i want leg armor so raids itll be!

You receive “Proof of heroics” in WVW that can be turned in for hero points. From my experience, WvW may be the fastest way to accumulate hero points.

So, getting 200 or 400 or however many wvw levels is required for enough proofs is, in your experience, the fastest way to accumulate points? really? How many wvw levels are you making in EB or the new BL right now per hour? Without boosts, we’re not pay to win players.

I think the most lame part is that the amount of heroics you get per level up is RANDOM, somewhere between 2-4. I have no idea why they did this, but that’s nothing short of frustrating that some players would be put behind due to dumb luck.

It’s really in between 100 and 200 levels, so I am going to say 150.

A lot of ppl are coming at this the wrong way. Elite spec are not needed and realy your still going to see mostly the base classes in wvw. What was the major changes is that now you can play wvw and get more rewards from both the new chest and the new nodes. The major part of this is that you can use wvw for some level of map completion (in time we may see other means of map completion in wvw). This is only a boon for WvW not a lost. There just new things to work for added motivators to play wvw or even gw2 because at the end of the day that video games a type of goals to work for.

So yes there elite spec to work for but they are not a native for having to work to get to but when it comes to wvw we now get more rewards with a real reason to work for and play.

Except for all the people that have the advantage by having their elite specs because they went to grind it in this stupid pve content.

Then that elite spec needs to be nerf… its like saying the game if p2w becuse you can buy an expansion for these elite spec.
Keep in mind ppl who pve already tend to have the better armor faster the pure wvw players for some reason that is different how? Its just now the wvw players can work on these elite spec over time (in some ways faster then the pve players if you factor in added time spent running for the mastery and leveling them up to get all the points from mag.)
What it dose is makes wvw rank up worth having it makes something that becomes very pointless worth something in both the short run (for our elite spec now) and the long run (other elite spec as they add more in and for alts the chest are account bound).
From HoT wvw HAS become much more rewarding but there is more to work for it as simple as that.

Well, the heroics also have an alternate use as well if you choose not to pursue an elite spec in that manner. I haven’t been to the new zones so I don’t know if it’s easier to get the challenge or to get 3-4 wvw levels. I do think 200 levels is too much if one gets unlucky though.

Also, what about those end of week chests; are they gonna give heroics too?

I found that If I hounded the LFG for HP groups I was able to knock out most of my elite spec in the new maps. I still need like two or three more but even with only first mastery in mushroom and glider I was able to get most. I would say grab the updraft glider mastery if you can to make it easier on some. I got one Maguuma Hero Point and couldn’t see myself trying to finish it out there, WvW players got kittened in that regard unless you have a huge supply of boosters and can play during the most active time zone and you get a perfect balance of structure taking and zerg fights and you might get close to the same rate as PVE in expansion maps but probably not.

Fastest way is to join a group in maguuma doing hero challenges, whether its your guild or another group.
