Good duration? Yes, I think the 4 weeks are a good duration for a tournament. The chance for people to burn out is significantly less with this shorter duration

Easy? Yes, too easy. It did not lure PvE players in to stay and play. They capped a few ruins, slew a dolyak or a sentinel right outside spawn. Last tournament meta was close to a sweet spot (a little less, a little more leeway would have perfect).

Fun? Not really. The outcome was determined by coverage, so strong night crews and being able to cover close to 24h decided the winner.

Rewarding? Yes, it was the most rewarding of the three tournaments so far. Sadly the rewards were the same for people spending around 20 in four weeks capping ruins and the ones that upgraded, sieged and refreshed half of their Borderlands. Also, nothing really valuable besides around 2 skins. Just compare it to the total number of stuff oyu get for finishing the latest chapter of LS season 2.

How was your experience? It was OK, but nothing I will remember for more than two weeks, too.

I serendipitously got rewards for 2 of the weeks, while I happened to be unlocking some traits in the EotM map for a couple of characters. Honestly, even the stupidly easy weekly round achievements and the rewards that come with them couldn’t tempt me into WvW anymore.

I enjoyed the first two weeks, even though it seemed to me always the same stuff.
But there was hope to play against different servers, for a change. Maybe some GvG.
Rewards: I do not play WvW for the rewards; however, it would not hurt to have something a bit more exclusive for putting efforts in WvW and not the same items that people who played in EotM for a total of 1 hour in four weeks can get…
Altogether it was a failed experiment and, once again, friends are quitting the game.

Either the same matches as usual or even more unbalanced matches than normally.

No sense to make a tournament in a non-competitive game with imbalanced teams.

Ceterum censeo SFR esse delendam!

In short, no. I did not.

The lengthy explanation would be:
The outcomes were as many predicted they would be. These tournaments always push players to transfer, even though in many cases the rewards for their bought victories do not outweigh the price they pay to move. The seasons never actually feel like a tournament, but rather a wall siege war being waged by players terrified to jump down from off the wall. I can recall very few match ups during the season that resulted in fun. For the most part, they were all one sided land slide victories. From watching the millenium.org boards all season as I often do, it was never very difficult to immediately know who would win the match ups that week. These tournaments prove nothing to me, and offer very little pride in winning. Where most would rejoice I find myself analyzing victory. I often ask myself questions such as:

“Well, was it relatively a balanced matchup?”
“Were the opponents even trying this week?”

Perhaps there should be more of a focus on making the rosters and the odds of outcomes more evenly stacked in such a way that it really is anyone’s win. So that it might actually feel like a tournament as opposed to an over glorified way to shower the higher populations with tournament tickets. The state of things as is, is entirely to predictable to be considered a tournament. What kind of tournament have you ever participated in where you could just look at the roster and know which entries will succeed tremendously, and which will fail at even mustering a defense? I would honestly just rather we not have the seasons, and tournament tickets be replaced by tickets received for completing every hundred WvW ranks or something.

Besides the issues that have already been covered by everyone else, one minor quibble I have is that ANet has progressively gotten more stingy with rewards; we don’t even get greens/blues in our chests. Only tickets.

The answer for myself and almost all my guildies is simple: No to the season
Yes to the rewards

We are a WvW guild and the seasons put too much stress and wear and tear on the players. You see this afterward with people transferring, and heavy downtime (read: Not playing WvW) for weeks afterward as there is no enthusiasm to play GW2 once the season is over.

The rewards are ok, but since they are stuff we can mostly get in WvW anyways, or have gotten in past seasons, they are not truly exciting or original.

I enjoyed it but perhaps that’s because this was the first time where I spent a significant amount of time playing WvW. I agree, however, that it seems to be more about the number of bodies you can have online in a 24 hour period than it is about anything else. A good commander can do things that a bad commander can’t but if you don’t have the bodies, none of it really matters.

Winner was decided before it started.. Pointless activity while population scoring issues still exist.

For all 4 weeks i have only 30 min to enjoy….
First week i play it every day
Second week i play it 5 of 7 days
Third week mayby 3-4 of 7 days
The last week i enter only to get the achievement…
Was it fun … yes for 30 minutes when Outnumbered as always (only 10 players…) we defend 1 tower from the large Blob…
The whole tournament … no it was no fun, not for the rewards or for the achievements or events….
I have no fun because when we are 15 ppl at 1 map defending or capturing points other maps have 1 to 5 ppl at the time … and we loose.
“Its not about the winning …”-you will say.
Try to fight without fighting spirit, without any chances of winning. Try to fight knowingly that all the efforts to do something are for nothing and that time you spend there is for nothing.
Where is your spirit now?
When we are 5 ppl against large zerg we have no fight… they roll on us …. Where is the fun of that you die.
5 ppl vs Zerg = You have no time to fight = Dead = No fun
Where is the fun when you dont play, you are there only like target practice…
The same story every day.. again and again. I still play WvW with my friends, we are small group of 5 ppl and roam around the zerg’s. We fights with another small groups. Yes we have win the battles but in the end of the week our world loses.

In the tournament we cant roam in small group. There are 1 ot two zergs of world when we fight mid T or one of the first T…
