i was just browsing thru Tier 1 and 2 NA battle threads and was surprised to see sooo many score updates, infact almost every 4th post has one with very nice screeshot along with the score thread.

example – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/08-02-JQ-SoR-SoS/page/2#post1405062

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/2-8-BG-Kain-TC/first

if u go to EU tier 1 and 2, u will not find even a single post on score update, i mean not one!
example –
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Deso-VS-ER-Round-2/first#post1417102
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Seafarer-s-Rest-Vs-Jade-Sea-Vs-Piken-Square/first

what others things have u noticed between the two ladders and things u would like to adopt from the other side?

Probable reasoning here is that almost every EU WvW player uses the Millenium site for constant updates we don’t need to post it in the matchup thread

NA servers seem to use a lot more upgraded siege than what I’ve seen on EU servers. I don’t know why that is.

My posts are facts as I know them, or my own opinion, and do not represent any guild.

I got the Millenium set on hot key myself…but that site seems to be well off of current points. Maybe people update the EU side better? It gives a good idea of who’s leading. But never replaces fun pics of happy or sad player updates.

EU – Strategy through professions + sieges.
EU – people want you to ask for help before helping, but they will say often ask me for help and i will help you

NA – Upgraded sieges and massive number of players.
NA – … well, i haven’t really received help from any NA person yet haha.

Lol it’s funny how EU think NA is just a bunch of mindless zergers without strategy…

Reality Check: NA uses as much if not more strategy than EU does. Neither are better than the other, both are equally good in their own unique way. The difference is in the different organized guilds and their type of organized strategic play style they would use. One may counter the other but the strategy is all there. Erhm.
As you can see from my tag I am an NA player.
But I’ve done my fair time on EU servers and picked up most of their tactics.

Quite simply I’ve had the best of both worlds.

And EU would roll NA in a WvW match.
There are many different reasons, but a big one is NA has an artificial 24hour crew will EU servers pull them off naturally.
There is a strong cohesion between different countries and for instance, the Russian will horde together into one big federation, pulling other russians who wouldn’t have WvW’d into said federation and getting them to play.

That and the mix up between playstyles keeps everyone on their toes while I find NA play very obvious and repetitive.
Most of the time when I take something its because it really doesn’t make any sense to the other team, so they are on the wrong side of the map with no scouts.
Tada, appear out of nowhere. Flip it, lose it, take another one.
Eventually all the towers will be weak and you can perform a grand sweep, tumbling all the towers in one swoop.

As opposed to NA play, which is bash each one down as you come to it.

I spent a bit of time on Desolation, and the coordination there was amazing compared to anything I’ve seen on an NA server. Pretty much everyone was on their voice chat and worked together. The only reason I didn’t stay is because EU servers lag 30x more than NA ones. It’s really not fun hitting an ability and having to wait 2 seconds before it activates, especially when theres only 2 people around, you and the guy whose about to kill you because your abilities don’t work.

And what do you base this off? I have played on NA servers in all tiers since the head start. Transferred my second account to a EU server a few weeks ago and the level of organization was just insane compared to anything I experienced in NA.

That’s not saying NA can be a lot of fun. I personally prefer the non-zergy type of WvW, something I get quite a lot of since I play in the off-hours on my NA server, whereas on my EU server I play in the middle of prime time where you even zerg to take supply camps.

On my EU server I play in the middle of prime time where you even zerg to take supply camps.

Of course, the zerg needs supplies, so it has to take some camps before it can attack a tower or fortress. But beside the main zerg (40+) we try to have several coordinated (they speak with the zerk-commander in a separate TS-channel) small groups (5-20) to take supply-camps, kill dollies, produce battle symbols, take towers, sneak opening of fortresses outer area …

In prime-time this is per map, in off-time this is with scouts on the maps and jumping of zerg and small-groups between maps

No idea how you do it in NA-T1, but in EU-T1 this seems to be standard.

European guilds in my experience at how they play, leverage fairly heavily off their “group-dynamic” as a cohesive force thats doing DPS, healing, condition clearing, combo’s, speed, stability etc. Reason I notice it is thats how I used to stack DAOC 8-man groups for zerg busting, basically an amalgam of specialists performing their individual functions.
It does sacrifice a lot of individuality in some ways, in that you’ll be asked to spec to a particular function, perform it as and when required. Back in DAOC it was a big thing, because your spec and function was pretty much valued often over player skill in some ways. So when you where getting a group or groups together it often meant trading a DPS/Tank/Caster/CC or whatever for someone’s extra Speed-Interrupt class etc just so you got a balanced mix. Course, if you knock out a few vital pegs in that group… the whole thing tends to fall over!

American servers, bit hard to generalise everyone as individuality comes into play as pretty much a given right to some extent and there are a lot of individually good players. But, we do stack classes into roles and recommended specs into our guild make-ups that we would prefer people to play, so we leverage a lot off a reasonably decent sized core focus group and make up for the rest with tactical manoeuvring which is where individual specialists come into play.
Often a lot less discipline in some areas, but very heavily focused at least when it comes to strategically defending assets-assaulting new ones, long/short term strategic objectives and maintaining a point-tick.

Thats just my observations. (from someone who’s neither European or American)

Attack a tower or fortress? Where did I state that?

I’m talking about circling clockwise around EB to capture supply camps with 30+ people, instead of splitting up and capturing it all simultaneously.

These supply camps are of course upgraded with increased supply deliveries for SM, so your point is kind of moot.

Well Europe have more competitive gaming then NA. There for you see a lot more competitive teams and though that people tend to take things a bit more serious when over here compared to NA.

It is like this a teams start out with a more competitive mind set and they are forced to fight other teams that start in the same way. The level of skill goes op faster as they fight one another.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

From my experience in NA, I’ve seen some amazing WvW based servers where they use strategy and tactics instead of the common zerging and then I’ve seen PvE/PvX based servers that use no skill at all. Blackgate is arguably the most strategic server in the game with many organized guilds that know what they are doing in W3. They have a community that is close-knit and share ideas to better themselves in WvW and practice everyday to be the best. Hearing someone say that NA isn’t as skilled as EU is laughable. Come to Blackgate and we’ll easily prove you wrong.
