Disable enemy names in wvw zones!
I’m not sure if disabling enemy names is the right idea, but some servers have fairly long names and it makes the tag stick out a lot more than others (thus harder to hide), and instead of showing the person’s rank, perhaps just do something generic like [server initials] enemy. Something like [HoD] Enemy or [NSP] Enemy, and only when you hover over them or select them does it change to their rank.
Seriously, some server names make some ridiculously long name tags when you throw ranks and guild tags in there too.
ANet made a huge effort ensuring that even in the biggest fights the name tags are always visible.

Yes, please do remove Veil and Portal Entre from Mesmers in WvW.
Then maybe Mesmers can have some real direction without Anet being afraid of us having the power of assisting entire zergs in addition to being able to do something on their own, something that is largely missing from Mesmers.
That’s not to say it’s not possible, it’s just really, really bad in terms of effort:reward ratio. You can get a lot more rewards by playing any other profession.
There are a lot of amazing Mesmer players out there that disagree…. Mesmers are not an easy class to play and making them such kind of destroys their uniqueness in the game.
If you want “easy” rewards pick another class. A game were all classes present the same results for the same skill level is going to be uber-boring to play.
Now that’s not to say some tweaking couldn’t be considered, but disabling their stealth and mass mobility capabilities is a rather drastic move just so you can earn rewards as easily as a warrior….

Mmm.
Effort:Reward isn’t always regarding loot. Mesmers are one of the most skill intensive (not to be confused with mechanically intensive [see: Engineer and Elementalist]) professions in the game. We also suffer from a lack of direction, causing a lot of the updates to lean in a different direction than the previous one.
A lot of it seems to be, from a player’s perspective, a lack of understanding from the balance point of view (I could be entirely wrong). Some of the changes, while meant to be helpful, end up harming us moreso.
Mesmer gameplay, over the course of the past 2 years, has become less healthy over time, encouraging pidgeonhole builds with slight variants due to personal preference.
Almost every time an “improves diversity” update rolls around, we end up magically losing one or two viable builds (at least) while gaining something that revolves around getting pidgeonholed into a specific build.
I’m not saying that Mesmer’s are underpowered. I’m saying that they need to stop being afraid of working with/on us. If that means removing Veil and Portal, so be it.
It is a usability feature and works more often than it doesn’t. I would be on board with better line of sight detection but who knows how much extra processing that would take.

It’s funny to see the “Northern Shiverpeaks Platinum Assaulter [GTAG]” trying to hide in a corner.

The name tags are easier to transmit and render than full or even simplified character models. It was all about addressing a performance issue.
Before the improvement you would not see the enemies in big fights until very late into the fight. You might have been killed before seeing the first enemy. Now you will at least see the names tags.
I do agree the name tags are too long. There has been suggestions to shorten them:
- Display rank as an icon
- Display server name as abbreviation
At one time the name tags also included title, but fortunately that was soon removed. Now you only see the titles of your party members and your target.

I made this suggestion ages ago… not only would it make hide and seek a strategy of the game but it would also make that huge variety of dyes a lot more interesting… dying your armor for camouflage would become a lot more viable… choosing terrain better and hiding out in trees and bushes would become more interesting too.
