Disappearing Siege Weapons
It’s called siege decay, I think. An intended game mechanic. You need to “refresh” siege to reset the decay timer. There must be guide somewhere on how to do it.
Yea I’ve seen them disappear while using them also like they have some kind of limit on how many ammo they can shoot, I’m not sure how you refresh the timer (other than running to it and manning it but you say that doesnt work were u shooting it?) but I’ve had a treb at sm I placed last a few days. Was quite nice to see something I placed still there, which is how it feels it should be.
Wondering if the decay is more evident outside control points? Stuff in keeps seems to last forever… but the same can’t be said of stuff on a Ridge for instance… whether that’s because it decayed or some opp destroyed it… not sure.

Pretty sure I remember arrow carts having a finite amount of ammo before they despawn.

That is not true. If you think it is, bring up a proof, not a blank statement.

I believe that if the person who placed the siege logs off: that has an effect and causes them to disappear. There is at least a 30 min, no man rule but I also think the creator logging off also does this. I have seen siege not even being manned for hours sticking around while others simply poof for no reason even if I had ‘refreshed’ them.
Well it seems like none of us really know exactly what is going on with siege and would be nice to know what is going on here.
Tell me about it I placed a Treb at garrison and was self building it but vanished at 60% of the build, there was no foe’s of any kind in the area as well.
Also was helping siege up a spot for defense and low and behold it was all gone in less than 15 mins.
But to cap it all I was placing a superior flame ram down with again no foes at all around and it never even appeared.
I would of personally thought a simple 12 hour timer on all siege would of been better

Has to be a despawn mechanic since there is a siege cap and you can’t place any more until the others are gone. Like when people were using transfers to build tons of siege right by the supply depot in worthless spots so that you can’t place anymore.
Anyways, wish there was an actual explanation on how despawning seige mechanic actually works with also information on what the siege cap is/how it applies. Is it global per map and or is it by general area limit (ie tower can only have X siege in it’s area) is another question.
I’d like to know how the despawn mechanic works as well. It seems very arbitrary on how long siege will remain. I’ve had some siege stay around for hours and others disappear within 15 minutes. It would be nice to know what affects this, factors like how much siege is nearby, whether the location it’s at has been attacked recently, etc.

I would wait on asking for siege mechanics(by that wait till Anet has adressed them in a patch notes), they are still a very buggy and there is very little consistency. I’ve had siege despawn on build, never appear on placement, last the mythical 30 minutes and despawn, other don’t, you name it.
I’ve noticed Rams tend to stay outside a structure for hours after capture, yet trebuchets seem to despawn very rapidly. I’ve also had one occasion where I tried laying 3 ballistas in a row while sieging an enemy keep and all 3 never appeared but still consumed the blueprint – a guildmate then laid one down perfectly fine in the same spot :/

It will despawn if the original builder is still logged on. I’ve seen it happen to siege equipement I had built; that’s how I learned about the despawn timer.
From the wiki, http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Siege_weapon:
Siege weapons have a despawn timer of 30 minutes. If a player uses a siege weapon, the timer is reset. When the timer reaches 0, the siege weapon is removed from the game.
