Disciplined Maneuvers' Cost
Yeah, the cost does seem rather excessive.
Another buff my small guild will never have… We barely have guild bounties to do.

100% agree.
I could live with 2-3; hell even 5-6 merits and a WAY, WAY shorter build time (seriously 3 days for only 24 hours? Who thought of that kitten) influence price could be reduced to 1k
I’d say this is the best
4 merits, 16 hours build for 36 hour uptime, 1k Influence

I don’t think something like this warrants merits at all actually. Its just a 24 hour buff and nothing like the others that require merits. Another upgrade that’s similar is +5% gold for kills for 24 hours. Its requirements are- 3 merits, 300 influence and 1 day build time.
The most I really see DM going up to would be maybe 5 merits and 1000 influence with a 24 hour build time. That’s of course assuming it stays at lasting for 24 hours.
Good to see others agree with me here though. Thanks for the replies so far!
No, they have decided that they don’t want older and more established (or rich guilds) to have too much of a boost on WXP so the current cost is reasonable. And I think it’s a much better temporary buff than the old armor repair fee reduction upgrade.

I understand the argument of preventing the established/rich guilds from gaining too easy a boost to WXP. However, to preempt one potential problem, they create an unintended consequence elsewhere; namely locking out smaller guilds.
In the interest of full disclosure, mine is an established guild for which the cost of this upgrade is not onerous. However, I can see how it could easily be so for a smaller guild.

Makes sense with the megaserver but yet it doesn’t because they didn’t change any of the existing buffs. Its killer for smaller guilds too that just like to run 15-20 man havoc groups in WvW. Its not like this breaks the bank either as I said in my original post, its just that its not in line with any of the other buffs. As a large guild, I could keep this buff up for my guild as long as we have the merits, its not a problem at all but that’s not the point here.
I would have no problem if they made the upgrade cheaper to build but it would also have to be more in line with the +5% kill xp boost which only requires economy III and 500 influence. If disciplined maneuvers was also 500 influence and required art of war III (or IV) then sure I’d build it all the time.

Also, all the wvw buffs (the ones you can put on claimed objectives), all cost 200-500 influence, have a 16-24 hours build time and last 12 hours. Why this one isn’t par with these?
