For the people who did not play Guild Wars 1, there was a condition called, Disease. What it did was it would put degen on a target, then if you stood near a target..ally or foe, of the same species (Humans -Humans, Charr-Charr etc) it would spread to them. Essentially becoming nearly impossible to remove unless someone did a mass cleansing or people stood away from each other.

That being out of the way, why did they take it out? IMO it would be a great anti-zerg condition. I’m not saying it would obliterate it, but it would definitely make a zerg hesitate to say…stand in the aoe of a dead cow from trebs that would use disease. As it would go viral and could not be removed until people cleansed it.

Side question, why did they remove Deep Wound. For non-Guild Wars 1 players, it would take a percentage of your TOTAL hp not your current hp and it would chunk it back. It would only be triggered by certain skills. Normally after bleed (Severe Artery/ Gash)

Might have been too demanding on the servers to continually calculate a proximity condition.

Probably what Straegen said, but I think it is a great idea if it could be done.
Deep wound isnt needed lol, there is already so much spike damage in this game.

Team Deathmatch for PvP – Raise the AoE cap for WvW – More unique events for PvE

Disease was a great condition: very flavorful and fun to play with. I think it would have been a much better condition than torment.

There is a corresponding skill Epidemic that works like a disease and is wicked powerful in the right circumstances.

In GW1, we had both Disease and Epidemic.

The lack of dedicated healers prevents deep-wound from being added, since there is less protection against spike damage available. A coordinated spike of 3 people can already pretty-much instantly down people. Reducing the target’s health by 20% on top of that would make it too easy. As for the reduced healing portion, that is already in the game in the form of poison.

As for disease, it would be very computation intensive since the engine would try to apply it to all characters within spreading range, so it would be like a continuous AoE from each infected creature (100+ in zerg fights). That is, if it isn’t cleansed quickly by the amount of condition removal that flies around in zerg fights.
