The server transfers being free are greatly hindering any actual battles that may take place as it currently stands. If a player or a whole group of players(500) of them decide to join forces with another server during a 1 week match it makes it decidedly unfair.

For instance, Fort Aspenwood or the majority of them decided to tank the match between FA, BG and DB. Several hundred of them transferred to BG overnight and capped the whole map in off hours. Now there are no FA forces to speak battling against BG and it has basically rigged the scoring system in their favor.

This is a complete joke as how things can change with spies transferring over to spectate and then the next day trading out with their friends.

My solution: If a player transfers to a competing WvW server they are not allowed to join WvW until match reset.

This is absolutely a huge problem. People keep switching servers solely because of WvW. Because they keep doing this, servers are never going to become stable and mass amounts of players will keep server hopping and shuffling around, changing the overall quality of the servers.

FA has definitely seen the worse end of how transfers can affect the game, while BG has benefited from it tremendously (just looking at trends between the weekend versus the past couple of days).

I totally endorse the suggestion in the OP, and hope that something is done like it for this next set of games. Until such a restriction is put in place and people are actually forced to pick a server and stick with it, no true balance will ever be achieved.

How about we just disable free server transfers entirely, and move to the paid model that was supposed to be in place to begin with?

And yes, anyone transferring should be barred from WvWvW on their new home until the next match starts.

I think it’s because ANet advertised free guesting to other servers. The guesting system currently isn’t working, so they are allowing free transfers as a temporary measure until it’s in. If they just made transfers paid without having guesting in there would be a lot of people very rightly cheesed off.

I do agree that the WvW lockout for server transfers should be in place though. No idea why it isn’t.

I completely agree with disabling WvW until reset on a server transfer. I’m hoping they keep free transfers in place for at least a couple weeks after they implement whatever fix they said they were working on for server queues. The fixes possible have hugely different impact on how I’d be able to play WvW, so it could greatly impact which server I’d want to play on long-term.

Or they could allow like 1 free transfer a year and unlimited paid ones I guess. As long as I get that final free transfer to make an educated decision about where to play.

even then, guesting is going to be a problem.

i don’t think arena net thought through guesting system properly enough in the first place.

with so much malice running back and forth between the different worlds involved in WvW… i hope they realize how much of a troll zone lions arch on any server is going to become when people can guest over, and afk in lions arch recruiting for other servers, and trolling the one they are on.. and getting trolled when people ask what server they are from

What I wish they would do is give a two week warning then end free transfers.
After that grace period allow up to one paid transfer a month.

This would cover pretty much any issue that might occur with “friends” being on a different server. Two weeks is sufficient time to find any server in a non-full state.

This would help server populations to settle down and average point spreads in wvwvw I would think.
