I profess I don’t play WvW regularly on IoJ. Occasionally I see a sizable chunk of people idling in the zone entry automatically using skills, which I assume, is some way of prevention against being flagged afk. Its a bit of an eyesore, but aside, I hear players suggest these entities are botters with the intent to clog up the cue and keep other real players from entering.

I don’t know if this is just a side effect of regular botting that already happens all over the place; or are botters, instead of farming gold, are up for hire by groups of players from different servers to maliciously hold up the wait cue, or do things like depleting supplies from keeps and towers. It sounds a bit ridiculous, while difficult to actually detect. I’m curious if this sort of thing actually happens or not.

I haven’t seen any bots in WvW on Gandara yet, must be happening in highest server tiers, we are in the middle.

Little bit of paranoia here me thinks.

It’s more likely these are people that have been queued up for at least 2 hours and are unable to actually play at that particular time, or taking a break.

These aren’t bots by definition (self-running program) but just auto-repeating macros.

Granted its annoying as kittens to see so many people doing nothing, but feel solace in the fact that it happens on every server with big queues.

Interesting you brought this topic up because on Sanctum of Rall tonight on our own borderlands map there have been over 20+ people at citadel just spamming abilities this was for over the course of a hour while I was there and I am sure went on longer.

There was a que over over 30 minutes to get while we were losing our Garrison and everything because we lacked actually people playing.

If this is how low other servers will really go to win a WvWvW match then that is just really sad to know.

I had never seen this before tonight but it was quite 100% clear this was intentional!

Something needs to be done.

If that truly is the case, tell everyone in your map to /report each of them for exploit.

Reporting this as botting doesn’t seem like the right category, not to mention botters are handled with data collection and then necessary action, no data needed for this. And they are exploiting the queue system.

Sounds more like bots that were not particularly well programmed. Feed them fireworks and enjoy the show.

Oh they do stand in the spawn zone, mostly grouped up right ontop the waypoint so it gets hard to report all of them.

Quality sucks, but I didn’t care much today, not feeling well right now.

It annoyed me, because I couldn’t target all of them to report them, however what I fraps’d was a small time. The players had been there for hours on end, not moving other then to spam a skill to heal or buff.

Nice to see it wasn’t only SoR that got hit yet again with the /afk bots.
