[Phnx] Phoenix Rises from the Ashes | Crystal Desert
Every once in while I find myself chasing after someone in the BL. There was no bow for duel, and they’re not really fighting back. Most of the time if this the case I’ll down them (but not spike them). What’s everyone’s thought on chasing down players who aren’t fighting back?
If they’re in WvW it’s fair game to spike them. That said I also think it’s poor form for 5+ players to chase a solo roamer all over the map, finally kill them then jump and laugh at said player’s corpse.
a pu condi mes actually tried to chase me today. it was weird cause i literally just put on swiftness and the mes couldn’t close in. ofc i tried fighting him but pu in a 1v1 is too strong.
In WvW there are almost no rules. Like the hunger games. Except you can respawn.
As a gs/lb ranger i can catch only necros and some guas, engis but others always chase me through the whole map. Sometimes full guilds. Nobody likes rangers
Punish them for running from an even numbered fight
If they’re not fighting back you shouldn’t give them a chance to run away. You’ll get a lot more hate tells from PVErs that way. I had a guy message me just yesterday that I killed and stomped when “he was trying to get map completion” It was pretty awesome. Deep V Diver or something. I laugh every time I look at those screen shots.
They are the enemy and have to die
Not much else to say ^^
If red, it’s dead.
That’s the only rule.
There are proper places for duels, like south of the southmost camp.
If you meet someone there than yes, /bow and duel and don’t finish the downed.
For the rest of the map, kill.
Roaming is about survival. Chasing people often doesn’t get you anywhere good.
If someone tries to run from me in a fight, I try to prevent it. If they manage to slip away, I’m not going to keep chasing, I’ll take the opportunity to run as well. Preferably, they don’t have the chance to escape or I slow them down until they’re dead but this isn’t always the case. Sometimes people are just faster or something is preventing me from catching up to them at that moment like a lengthy cripple or chill, etc.
If I pass someone who hasn’t tried to engage me, I’ll size them up first. I check their buffs, their weapons, try to discern what build they might be and if I think I can win I’ll run them down. Otherwise, I won’t start a fight if I don’t need to.
I might sound like a chicken but I personally never run from a fight that’s already been started unless the numbers aren’t in my favor. If it’s 1v1, I fight to the death regardless of the situation. Chasing people across the map rarely ends well as they’ll probably just kite you in to more players or kite in to their territory so there’s a better chance of you getting outnumbered. When someone runs, it’s best to run as well.
Players that run and don’t fight back are no threat and no challenge. Not gonna waste my already limited time chasing them.
However, if PPK is back, I will chase them like Kool Aid man on crack.

If they do something that kittenes me off a lot, then yes. If it was your average engagement, then I couldn’t be bothered with chasing.
If it’s an upscale chances are I will let him go, or even not attack in the first place. Unless he tries to fight me.
I assume they’re confused and don’t know what’s going on, so I help them out by sending them back to the waypoint.
It depends for me. Most of the time If there somewhere where they shouldn’t(in my map’s area) I’ll kill on sight. If it’s in enemy territory I’ll usually just duck out of the way and head to whatever objective I’m after. Although if there being non-violent (currently disguised) I’ll follow them around and escort them out of my team’s territory. This is all Dependant on if I consider them a threat or not(capping objectives, scouting, etc..)
kill anything that moves.
every once in awhile ill avoid them because the fight im heading for is more interesting.
but seriously if you go into WvW its fair game, there is no getting upset about it.
kneeling over top of a blackgate ons roamer is always acceptable.
Looks more like the downed guy is getting lucky.

kinky…..
Don’t chase, you will make yourself vulnerable
All invaders are mists entities that should not exist, a glitch in the mist that was spawned out of chaos and evil; and thus they must be eliminated to bring balance to the mists.
But that doesn’t mean you should blindly chase after anyone. Invaders are often cowards who will attempt to lure heroes into traps. Only chase those that run into places where their friends are not likely to be hidden, and only if you know you can take out the coward invader in a shot time, before they can call for help or run too far, or you may end up all the way on the other side of the map in enemy territory.
There’s one place I feel it’s wrong to kill people in WvW and that’s in the jumping puzzle areas. Unless of course they attacked me 1st.
If their rank is lower then Bronze – I don’t chase.
No I rarely chase because I’m a guardian, everyone can outrun me when my teleports are on cooldown, so there is no point in chasing.

If I didn’t chase down people that tried to run, I wouldn’t get many kills in WvW as a roamer in T1. I swear there is some training that says don’t even fight back, outnumber or run away 2 friends. When people try this and I’ll hunt them down even if they run into a camp, stomp them, and spam laugh.

I don’t chase players who aren’t fighting back. Sometimes these players are just trying to get map completion. I only enjoy fighting players that wants to kill me.
It is situational of course, however, If you are in wvw and you allow players to get away to kill yaks, take camps and tap keeps, you are scoring for the other team. People do play wvw to win and taking up space on the map and not actually helping your team is not being a good team player.

Ever heard of Obsidian Sanctum?
If I see people duelling on a normal WvW map, I’ll rush in and kill, simple as that..
(or get killed, for that matter) :-D
What is most fun instead of chasing is camping Vista and pickoff up Lvl trying to get there wvw map completion done
(edited by medusashadow.3567)
When I solo roam, I am not looking for fights because I can’t win 1v1. I run around in gear I pick up, so mostly green and yellow stuff.
Instead, what I aim to do when I roam is to start upgrades at camps and towers, flip unguarded camps, escort dolyaks that do not yet have guards, and flip mercenary camps. And if I run out of things to do, I wander around collecting items, chopping wood or mining ore.
If I see an enemy player, I run. If they attack me, I keep running until I am downed, I don’t fight back at all (although my pet will). I have no hard feelings against those that down me, it’s all part of the game.

Duel is a matter of circumstances, you have a random 1 vs 1, the guy is good, you invite him/her in a party and do it again, sharing builds etc. You can meet really nice guys like this.
WvW reflect human nature as well as this tread do, from the most sensitive and honest post to the stupidest one.
I don’t usually chase people unless I think they’re going to try to cap something. A few weeks ago I was getting map completion for exp on my uplevel mesmer, and a thief would not leave me alone. I used everything to run away, but he stomped me. Lo and behold, it seems he was being chased by 4 of my server mates who promptly stopped to res me and kill him. Also I try to help others with the skill points and things if I’m passing by, even if they’re enemies, I have a soft spot for those who just need map completion.
What makes wvw exciting is not knowing what you’ll run into or how an enemy will react. Sure, it was annoying to be chased and killed on my uplevel, but I’ve done the same.
