Do you still feel server pride?
“I smell like pomegranate.”
No. Everyone is just moving to the server of the week. Transfers need to be paid.
To original post. Yes.

Yeah. Server pride here. I love maguuma. We take a beating and keep on ticking.
Interesting question, Do I still feel server pride?
No, I do not ‘still’ feel server pride. When the game launched Gunnars Hold was just that to me, a server name, containing many people. Most of which I didn’t know, for a game I didnt know. I took no pride in being on Gunnars Hold, why should I? If you had dropped me in any other server I wouldnt have known the difference back then.
Then Gunnars started winning most of our 24 hour matches and a bit of pride started creeping in. When we started losing the week long matches several Gunnars left for greener pastures, and cant blame them for that since they never cared for our community.
After that Gunnars took a beating in rankings, several of our former server mates predicted our servers ‘death’. Even some of us that stayed around wondered where we would end up. Then, when the going got tough, our server got going. We banded together in forums, mumble, and above all: battle.
We are not high ranked, we do not have the night or morning coverage, we do not have the elite guilds but we have proven we can and will fight. Not for rank, not for the bits and bytes that is the Gunnars Server but for the community and the pride we take into being part of that.
Every time we win battles against the odds, every time our commanders and fighters step over defeat with humor and grace Im proud of my server.
Gunnars Hold.
Still Standing.

I still have a lot of pride for Dragonbrand.. but that doesn’t mean I care greatly whether we win or lose. A feeling of pride comes from the solidarity of those involved and a “never give up” attitude.
A general lack of pride is what severely damaged WvW, in my opinion. Instead of building a community and sticking by it through thick and thin, people were given the option to take the “easy way out” and jump around to winning servers whenever they felt like it. We’re still feeling the repercussions of that.
I hear ya Grit. I played with you some tonight as a matter of fact. I left Isle of Janthir within a couple days of playing to join some friends on Dragonbrand. When several of the good WvW guilds left DB, things got really bad. Week in and week out we faced extreme blowouts because we no longer had the numbers to support being in that tier. I started to research the problem and came to the same conclusion that just about everyone else did. Server hopping and lack of server pride killed DB for a long long time. During this time, I was getting a lot of pressure from the guild to change servers. I was confident that we would eventually get to where we are now, and that’s with two other servers that are close to our status. We might not have the numbers, but DB has some quality players and commanders. In the end, I ended up kicking 2/3 of my guild because of all the drama they were creating, wanting to server hop. Am I loyal to DB and do I have server “pride”? I believe the answer to be a resounding YES!!!

Yes, though give the state of transfers and the total back-burner WvW is on, I’m not sure why I do. But I really do. :P

We joined Far Shiverpeaks for launch. Did not participate in WvW much (maybe once or twice) before the week long reset. That’s when it started to matter to me.
That was when we eventually started to loose guilds to other servers.
People complained that we were a loosing server when we lost 0.9 in rating. 0.9!!!!!!!!!! You know how well that’s played? Yet it wasn’t good enough to keep people around.
After having lost like 10+ of our major WvW guilds there is still a tight core of people here. A few new guilds have joined. The smaller guilds are bonding together.
Do I feel server pride? Hell YES!
Not in one fight when I head into WvW do I care if we’re behind or ahead. I actually thrive when I have the outmanned buff. That’s when I want to show people around me that you can do crazy kitten even if you’re few in numbers.. I absolutely love it.
I think that a lot of my server pride right now comes from that I did not give up and leave. And that I know we will bounce back.
@Farshiverpeaks
You’re dumb. You’ll die, and you’ll leave a dumb corpse
Yes. Blackgate seems like a close-knit family. We’re like a lion pride, if somebody messes with any of us, they mess with all of us. It’s also a plus that no one on this server has ever been a sor loser. Blackgate ftw

I never had any “server pride”. I deem it to be as foolish as having nationalist sentiments. Regardless of what server I play on, there will be bad, average and good players. Regardless of what server I play on, there will be nice and helpful people as well as selfish twats. Regardless of what server I am on, it will do better when outnumbering and do worse when outnumbered.
Server pride? None, but I will continue to fight alongside my server and try to help as much as I can.

Well this guy pretty much summed up anything I was about to say already so…
+1 I suppose.

Sure, i’m always fighting for my server.
We have such a great community and i dare to say we are heads up in quality to Elona Reach and have even beat them more often then not during primetime.
WvW is about the only thing i am doing while in GW2.

Sure I do – I’m Gandarian since the launch and in the begging that didn’t mean much to me. However, when I got hooked on WvW did the pride really start to kick in. After all – our victories and defeats are a part of concentrated effort. Sometimes one person can tip the scales and determine the outcome of battle but without other people on map you couldn’t achieve anything. There is a comradeship that emerges from battle and I’m proud to stand besides my fellow Gandarians.
Not to mention we have even named our Dolyak – Bessie must be proud to be Gandarian as we treat her with care.

Yes very much so. After losing so many guilds we had to build from the bottom an find the real core players. We now have an active forums active mumble and WvW server events for everyone to take part in. We might not be the finished article yet but you see a lot of people trying to improve things.

Of course, if I just cared about the scores on the board, I would’ve bandwagoned onto a server with 24 hour coverage, not stayed behind.
I feel extremely proud to be part of the great community that has arisen from the ashes of Gunnars Hold!
Outnumbered, never outgunned!!!

I’m with Nid on this, server pride, no. Community pride, most definitely. As the game has progressed and our community has grown I and many others have come together to form a community who cares, who wants to win, who wants to play by the rules and above all, wants to enjoy good company.
What we have achieved on Gunnar’s over the last 2 months, the people who have come together from all corners of the world to play this game, has been exceptional.
What was once a group of individuals is now a group of friends and allies.
We play together, laugh together, fight together with a common goal – To do the best we can with the resources available and to show ANY server we are never going to roll over and give up.
I am lucky to play with a great bunch of people and I play for them, not a piece of hardware.

Been on Blackgate since start, through ups and downs, not planning to switch.
So yes.
I feel alot of server pride for Crystal Desert.
We’ve got a lot of good people in our WvW zones, and we never give up! Go CD!
When are people going to figure out there’s a war going on?
Sure. I’ve stuck to Aurora Glade all the way from the beginning, seen them go down heavily in the rankings and start getting back up a bit in recent times.
The players in WvW never seem to change so there’s a feeling of a community even though I initially only picked the server because my other guildmates were in it. Now I can’t really even consider changing the server. There’s just so much effort put into WvW by many of the participants.
Gunnars Hold is just the name of the server we play on.
The team behind that name is awesome. Am I proud of the server name? Hell no, its a stupid name. I’m proud of the team I play with.
For reference, by team, I mean the people that stick together when things get tough.

As for me, i feel theres a certain intrinsic loyalty to any server i play on – meaning ill spend hours of my time just to help our server win, but maybe thats just to competitive spirit

i chose blackgate because it sounds cool, it turned out to be one of the best community ever. viva la blackgate! lol
For me it depends on the players on the server, if the players are friendly then I like the server if the players are kitten then I don’t like the server simple as that.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Depends how idiotic the team is playing

Same as when I was in the military, I fight for the people beside me. I love my server but the people that populate that server and, more importantly, my guildmates, make the server what it is. I go wherever they go and fight whomever they fight.
What do you mean there are other races than Asura?
There’s a great deal of community pride on TC, which is indebted, in part, to its origins as the designated roleplaying community. Although most on TC do not roleplay, the roleplaying community has contributed a unique brand of local flavor to the server and the character it has developed. TC boasts of its eccentric character. TC’s community does not define itself solely by any ambitions in WvW, but its larger composition. Its bizarre eclectic mix of RP, PvE, PvP, and WvW has made TC a stable high population server filled with (mostly) friendly people. Win or lose in WvW, TC is about trying to have fun.

We have Server Pride marches every year. We dress in bright colours and walk proudly through the streets with large floats and big balloons. Bet you didn’t know servers can float. Takes a lot of helium and you have to pray the hard drives don’t fall on your head.

Do I have server pride?
No.
To me the server is just a node, a piece of hardware set aside for us to play on.
What I do have pride in is the fellow players and the community on Gunnar’s Hold who have stuck together through thick and thin. These are people (and Roo*) I honestly wouldn’t trade for anything else.

I enjoy the community on GH, I have fun with my guild and the WvW community attitude is, mostly, pretty awesome whether we’re winning or losing.
It’s all good on GH for me.
But pride in a server? Not so much.
Piken Square
I feel a bit of server pride on Fort Aspenwood.
Several of our commanders are recognizable and on regularly. We’re courteous to each other in /map, even when we disagree.
I was on my Mesmer alt for 2 hours giving ports in the jumping puzzle tonight, because I knew it helped the server in WvW by putting more siege on the field. It felt good doing something selfless for the team.
While I do feel contempt for the ignorant PUGs that came to our server because we were winning. The ones who refuse to get on voice comms. The ones who lay around dead in fight, instead of releasing and coming back. The very same ones that will throw 1700 of a keeps supply in wall that is being trebbed instead of helping to take the trebs down….I could write pages about about the things I hate about our recent transfers…but in the end, I stick around because I love the core community we’ve built with people since launch and going anywhere else would make my Maguuma tattoo look ridiculous.
Before the sad politics of Eredon Terrace tore the realm apart, I transferred to Blackgate and saw a thriving, lively community behind its obsidian walls.
Well, I’m very proud of my server.
My pride lies with my guild and the people I play with, not the server I am on.

Our stay in US was always most likely to be temporary – seems like you guys are doing just fine without us now. As far as I know, a lot of people were thankful we came over and showed you what was doable with a bit of organized fighting.

Been on my server since first week of the game so yes. However it has been depressing seeing people leave for bandwagon servers but it wont change how I feel about Yaks Bend!!
well first thing i do when i log in is Click B to see points and ticks, second i do is to check FSC to see which Commanders online, then i say hello to guild and head into WvW.
i guess I have a certain server pride, also why i would sit to 7-10 am at resets

Yes. I am on a good server, by which I mean a good community that is (luckily) competitive as well.
Not as much as DAoC but it is a very nice feeling to have once again.
In most sports, there are teams that train and play together. For me in GW2 that team is my guild, so I’d say guild pride yes, server pride, maybe not. From a different angle, server means little more to me than some name in a game. For me, in real life, very few people that I know have heard about GW2 (if any), let alone the different servers. This is very different from say a football team, which probably almost everyone has heard of. On the other hand, I do sometimes tell my wife about the great guys in my guild.
With free transfers ending, I’m still very happy to be apart of Blackgate. I’ve learned… lol soo much from this server when it comes to WvW tactics and community building. If you aren’t happy with where you are at feel free to come to BG anytime and we’ll rekindle the good ole memories you had from the best moments of your life. We bring the fire.
