Does ANET care about roaming?

For the most part, a lot of mmos are in beta right now. We’ll just have to be patient and hopefully get back to core gaming values instead of this flashy hype show we got going on over here.

The same procedure as every year, Rambitshouse!

There are few triple A MMOs with an RvR system in any stage of development. CU is probably the closest but it sports 2005 gameplay with 2010 graphics. I am sure old DAoC players will fawn all over it but ultimately a limited audience. Crowfall… that one has potential but a long way out and could easily be vaporware.
MMOs are huge gambles with costly budgets and fickle populations which is why few studios even bother these days. Much easier to re-roll a franchise game, do a MOBA-esk offering (even that isn’t sure fire anymore), kick out a small scale indie style offering or move onto mobile. About the only multiplayer growth sector that is producing seems to be PC card game variants.

I just wanted to know if Anet even knows that roaming exists …
Short answer: No.
Longer answer: They want your smaller groups or solo play to exist in PvP because that is the esport they want to push. I believe their intentions for WvW were more centered around larger group play of 20+ person groups for WvW, which is pretty much the majority of what WvW is.
I personally lead a small man group that roams anywhere between 1 and 7 players at any given time and have for over 3 years in this game. We’ve had some on and off times, such as when Deserted BL went in to play, we all pretty much quit until they brought Alpine back. It is still fun, but it really depends on what server you are on and how competent of a roamer you are. We generally get eaten by a zerg a few times a night when we do WvW, but its all part of the game lol.
