Does Anet care about WvW?
nothing new is coming to wvw til EOTM, which is feb or march, wouldnt be surprised if later, so what you see is what you get

WvW is the redheaded stepchild of GW2, it receives least love compared to the other two parts, and things like the league went….not as expected in terms of rewards.

If they really didnt care, truely apathic, as you seem to suggest. Why did they bother with implemented events into WvW? Adding a way to get gear, and even most ascended gear.
They added new siege type, traps. They worked on culling, which is now a player option.

^^ this is true. They just do not have the manpower like they have on normal pve maps/events.

Let’s see why:
1) They couldn’t even be bothered with a formal announcement of the results of the WvW season in the same light that they promoted it.
2) WXP account bound even after saying they won’t change it. They also said culling couldn’t be fixed because it was hard coded… and it was fixed. They are stubborn about their design changes and this makes it incredibly hard to get them to change glaring flaws in the design.
3) Night Protection or the lack of it. Maybe EotM will change this but I doubt it.
4) Lack of attention to minor wvw problems, some quality of life improvements like commander tools; dealing with griefing siege (ie. moving it or deleting it); queue time (not ‘# in line’ but average time), and other suggestions found on these forums every day.
5) Lack of narrative from development team. No weekly blogs, no forum write-ups, nothing except a rare PR post from Devon that doesn’t really give anything useful (always vague). Ie. He said the were making account wxp but not when… and it is rumoured it won’t be until April, after EotM releases. Many people expected this change a week or two after the post, and it is like 4-5 weeks now?
6) PVE/LS in WvW even though everyone hates it.
Theres quite a few devs (and lots of community/dev collaboration) working on eotm, so its more like they dont care for the current state of it?
WvW is a mini game inside a pve game.
GW2 is a pve game. If GW2 had open world pvp the game would be a lot better, forcing arenanet to balance more and more the pvp content and clases because the game would be pvp oriented. This is one of the most unbalanced game i ever played, and i play online games since 1998. This is because is a pve game with some pvp modes.
well they DONT..if they did they will not involve the pve game with the pvp-WvWvW-maps…also they will start lisen a bit the players about the real problems for the WvWvW first and then they act

Where have they ever stated that? Maybe you’re confusing class balance with their statements about server population/coverage balance not being something they can control.
Secondly, if they care about WvW, why doesn’t anet make WvW as rewarding as PvE for the time spent playing it?
That’s what the leagues’ season was all about, trying to give more PvE style rewards to the WvW crowd.
It was horrible. WvW works best when it’s not about the rewards.

I like their timing on EotM… I believe another game comes out in april, one with probably equally bad world pvp but still at least it is new and you can be hopeful.
They care, they just have no idea what they’re doing, don’t listen to people who do and have a history of being condescending and borderline hostile toward the community.
Now they’re squandering all of their resources on EOTM and the only thing I’ve heard about it is how the PvE works and how annoying it is to fight on a giant version of skyhammer (Dear devs, EVERYONE HATES SKYHAMMER).
They should have put those resources into important things, like making use of the northern half of the BL maps, raid/warband functionality, mechanics to discourage omniblobs, quality rewards for WvW (long time sPvP players and skyhammer exploiters were just handed thousands of gold last patch), and (crazy thought) class balance specific to WvW which isn’t based around the ability to stand in circles super hard.

Oh god yes please someone remove skyhammer. Worst map ever, no skill sky lazor and knockbacks off the edge of everything. I just personally leave as soon as skyhammer map pops.
It’s not that they don’t care but from a business perspective they need more energy focused on pve because like it or don’t that’s where most of the customer base is.
I’m not sure if they care or not, but I can tell you that I’m beginning to not care because WvW is stale. The Conclusion to Leagues has caused the population in WvW to die off, and now we have PvE content, other new games in beta that will release soon, and I’m concerned that WvW may not recover unless Anet does something big for my beloved game mode.
Yes. It just doesn’t get as many resources as PvE but more players engage in PvE content.

Well I’ll openly admit that I like Skyhammer, but you don’t know me and I don’t play soloqueue So I guess that explains it all ^^ (+ I don’t play much PvP).
OT: Anet has mostly improved things in WvW over time. But just as with PvE and PvP there’s always more to be improved. So I’m not saying I like everything in WvW but they do care.
Obiously class balance should be looked at better (probably seperate it from PvE, just as PvP) but it is also probably the hardest task. I guess it’s hard to find the right development balance between all gamemodes.
I find WvW quite rewarding, depending on what you are doing. Ofc PvE offers greater options to gain money, but isn’t that the main reason for PvE? WvW has a stronger focus on fighting and winning rathe than high rewards. But maybe that’s just my playstyle.

EotM only runs for a handful of hours per its internal match-ups. Its going to be “day” for everyone playing a round at some point.

Well lets see since launch many moons ago:
Keep Walls and obstruction issues hasn’t been fixed. Try tossing a grenade down below off a keep wall and it hits at your feet even if you have a clear line to the target and the keep wall is maybe as high as your knees. On the reverse trying hitting someone even if the entire top half of the body is seen over the keep wall and you get “obstructed”. Now this is something that was complained about in Beta, but never was fixed.
Class Balance: as much as I like GW2, this is the worse game I seen for class balance, although they made some improvement, but two classes that stand out top and bottom for PvP / WvW to me that haven’t really been addressed are Thieves and Rangers.
Thieves, Invisibility abilities are so crazy OP for a class that can go a fight 90% of the time invisible and at the same time removing status ailments, healing, etc. I seen multiple times a good thief player take on 3 to 4 people and win or at least stay alive forever. Is this possible? or is this someone hacking with no cooldown on skills? or is the thief just this OP that it is possible? If the later is true then is this even close to balance? no…, has this even close to being addressed? not really.
Rangers, despite the latest patch they are still the easy kill class in the game for the most part. The worse one on one PvP class. Now I am sure there are some good Rangers out there, and to them I give lots of credit. To me they need help with melee as there isn’t enough a Ranger can do once they are closed in upon, there are far to many ways to close distance than a Ranger can offset.

As for rewards. If WvW is tied to pve, and they introduce vertical progression to PvE, then it is also introduced in WvW.
Saying WvW shouldn’t be about rewards is the same as saying that people who spend their time in wvw should have less money and poorer equipment then those who pve most of the time and only wvw occasionally.
If you think its suppose to be that way then, well…good for you.

This is simply an attempt by Anet to reduce workload on CC (Customer Care) team because quite frankly, they’re sick and tired of all of the trash, toxic postings, and outright abusive behavior that those threads devolve into. Most of them can start with good intentions, but they’ve typically turned into the most abusive areas evidenced on the forums.
That said, I’m not in agreement with the decision to outright close any thread that derails, gets troll-baited, etc…it sounds way too easy to get a player’s thread with an opposing view to your own, closed. There are certainly people out there who would do such a thing (hell, they even do it now).
IMO, CC team can’t just strip away the matchup forums without replacing it with some alternative.

1. I feel there is a confusion about PvP and WvW, it is a different game modes and WvW doesn’t require much balancing, because it is Massive part of MMO, which is first – impossible to balance, second – balanced enough.
2. It depends, running with my guild I have enough rewards to not complain, I just don’t really know what rewards I want, I can get all what I need (all ascended gear) and gold to keep myself with everything else.

- Anet doesn’t feel like it’s possible to balance WvW, so they don’t bother to try.
- But more importantly, Anet insists that (the failed) sPvP should be the primary PvP game mode of GW2 and thus puts 100% of their balancing efforts into sPvP.

Just because it is a WvW related forum they might be closing, doesn’t mean they don’t care for WvW.
But I don’t believe it is the best solution to harm a whole group of people because a few other people, that can’t be controlled by the group, don’t bother about nice behavior. But I do understand the Community Team is annoyed. If I were involved I’d probably react the same tbh …
It’s like at work, we get 4-5 spammails a day. Only a small click to deleate and block the domain. But it’s still quite annoying (some just change their domain once a week).

Well you seem to be offended and that’s no argument. Also I didn’t really say that WvW should be less rewarding than PvE, but it shouldn’t be the main focus. I believe most people play to have fun and at the end of the day are happy with what they have. If not they’ll end up farming xyz.
So with which part of PvE do you (want to) compare WvW rewards? With PvE roaming, Event faming, Dungeons? As you see even in PvE there are different ways to play which all have their own “reward level”. So it’s not as easy as saying “WvW is tied to PvE”
Farming is obviously the most rewarding way in terms of gold. Do you want WvW rewards to be comparable to faming? Maybe Champion enemies should actually give champion loot? Tbh I think the amount of gold and wvw tokens I earn in WvW are enough for little effort invested.
Every morning the same thing, wake up to find some hyper active all night server owns all of WvW, then try to make slight gains during the day. Worst game design team ever.
