Well, if you are a player that does alot of PVE and occasionally likes to wvw, BG and JQ look like a great destination!
I once guested to SoR and was in lion’s arch. The only people(very few) there were from [choo],[Tsym], etc. In SoS, we have all our LA commanders standing about and complimenting eachother’s legendary weapons and culture armor. So you see the difference. SoR was in 3rd place for quite some time. That is not a very attractive server for PVE’rs since they don’t get many PVE benefits. But this should change now that SoR is undoubtedly #1 NA.
On a more serious note, I am considering transferring to a tier 1 server. BG and JQ are out of the question since they are both FULL status 24×7. And JQ, well, I hold a long time grudge against them since they were a big part of SoS’s downward spiral to tier 4. Which leaves BG, but it is FULL. I have just recently got into WvW and spend 90% of my time in WvW, but it is not as half as fun as it used to be when SoS was in t1. My question is, is SoR active during UK hours? Is it too active such that there is a que on every borderland? If so, how long are the ques?
Sorry your logic fails in several ways. For example you assume everyone plays the same amount of time each week. SoR could just as easily have the highest number of wvw population playing 18 hours a day. JQ and BG could have an average of 2 hours per person. Then both JQ and BG would actually have a higher percentage of wvw players than SoR.
Bottom line is that most servers, if all pve players went to wvw, could have queue’s 24/7.

Come guest to our server during your play hours and look for a commander with an “IRON” tag. They can fill you in.

Yes, SOR recently was the beneficiary of large EU transfer [IRON], they are an active hardcore wvw guild.

I had not realized this before, and thought maybe there were other players out there that were having the same question…. Just putting myself in the shoes of a potentially confused individual as to how a server with less population is able to win against two servers with much larger populations considering how wvw is all about numbers.

Im not trying to be arrogant or condescending. In fact, im doing the opposite imo.
We all know wvw is a numbers game, so i simply gathered the facts and surmised after careful study, that as far numbers go, SOR has a higher proportion of dedicated, hardcore wvwr’s while comparatively JQ and BG, seem to have on average, a higher proportion of players that *bold*care barely*bold* about wvw as much as they do about pve.
If i was arrogant, i would’ve argued for option two from my post that you quoted…. that the actual QUALITY of SOR wvw’rs is far far superior ( because of the large margins of victory) compared to those of BG and JQ.
IMPORTANT NOTE*** A possibility does exist that SOR does have a much more dedicated group of wvw players compared to overall population AND that they are of much much higher quality ( again i say much much because of the massive margins of victory).

SOR has the highest % of zergs and wvw players. You cannot escape the fact that large guilds like Tsym that built up from SOS and large zergie guild like Iron from EU side added to SOR to help build their already massive zergs. Quantity not Quality is what usually wins WvW.
Its all the BL hopping you guys do its ridiculous, SoR can have the out manned buff and 20 seconds into an attack we are suddenly facing a zerg of 250+ in the blink of an eye.
Thats a winning tactic that I’m not seeing anyone else use in T1 and because of the bump in PPT because of it fair-weathers get a moral boost.
But serious props on that kind of scout/response, wish we had PuGs/commanders/large guilds that could/would pull that off over on JQ.
I have faced SOR for quite sometime now and their numbers in WvW over the past 3 weeks have been absolutely overwhelming. It doesn’t seem to matter which BL I go to they have a full map roaming around in a single force. Its been extremely difficult to hold anything against the numbers they are able to field each and every night.

I agree every server zergs, but not every server zergs all maps at the same time, that BG zerg you are talking about is used to counter Foo as the 10-15 man teams we were running would get crushed when waha and his 60 or so would golem rush everything
and SoR zerg during that time, its just your zerg is smaller cos you have less numbers compared to BG n JQ during that time
but props for going out there against superior numbers I know what thats like, just go out and make sure you and your mates are having fun

Large winning margins are not a valid reason to conclude that SoR’s players are of higher skill. In fact, player skill has almost no bearing on anything besides 1v1s and very small scale fights. Coverage, player numbers and coordination are the only factors of any significant importance when it comes to ‘winning’ WvW. SoR’s recent success can be only be attributed to the arrival of IRON, who are easily the largest and best coordinated EU guild on any NA server. SoR climbed to 1st when IRON arrived because it gave them the best overall coverage (EU and NA, meaning 2/3 of every day they have the highest PPT) while JQ and BG are only strong during 1/3 of each day during SEA timezones.
