Hey guys,
I am just curious if gear really matters in WvW , lets say i got exotic weapons and armor ,good accessories and stats, vs someone with legendary weapons and crazy gear. Will i be still able to kill and have fun?

Legendary weapons are cosmetic exotics. It depends on skill. I have a character that’s not even 80 yet and does remarkable well in WvW. When I first ran my mesmer, she had only two armor exotics and rares for everything else including weapons. She did just fine.

Whatever you do, don’t go chasing after Ascended gear until the update comes out and you can buy them with badges.

it matters, but u will still have fun if ur cautious in ur play.
i lvled 1 character entirely in wvw..

And you can do dungeons for gear and well as spend karma. Don’t disregard it, but don’t see it as the end all component to combat.

Not really. you do more damage when you have all your gear worked out good. but if your opponent is good and gets out the way of hits, than all youll stats go out the window lol

Mostly it’s the weapons that matter. With 2,000 power, a backstab with a level 80 green has tooltip damage of 1,448. With a level 80 rare it’s 1,559 (7.69% increase). With an exotic it’s 1,761 (12.96% increase over the rare, 21.62% over the green).

And that is just from the weapon strength, not even counting the extra stats.

If you have exotic weapons and armor then you are maxed out. Legendary weapons have the same stats as exotics and I can only assume by “crazy gear” you mean max stat gear, which is exotic. So yes, if you have exotics you will be on par with other players using legendaries and exotics.
