I think the matchups might benefit from being scored twice in one match. That is, once at the end of the weekend, and again at the end of the week. Whether for leagues, or for glicko.

Generally, the most hype in a match is in the first 48 hours or so, so it makes sense to place an evaluation on that first 48 hours. The scores wouldn’t be reset, but you’d have a second evaluation based on how well each server did for the week.

So you’d have two results per matchup, one from the weekend, one from the week as a whole.

The weekend score would be less affected (though not immune) by nightcapping, since coverage windows are generally larger on the weekend, and you’d have a more meaningful chance at some sort of upset in the first calculation.

Disclaimer: I am on a server that would benefit from this change.

No, no, and hell no.

Very cogent and well-thought out argument to add to the discussion, very impressive.

Might I venture a guess that you are on a server with a significant off-hours presence?

The OP is on FA. FA has a good afternoon presence, and that is how they got past SBI. We need some european guilds to fill that time slot, or more unemployed gamers.

They won the 48 hours against us (barely), and tuesday afternoon is when they stormed us and we never caught back up. We actually lowered their 16k lead to 3k before that happened.

So, if they scored twice, FA would (counting just what has occured in the leagues so far), they would have 5 points for last weekend, 5 points for last week, 5 points for this weekend.

It sounds good in theory, but some servers (like maguuma), do not show up during the weekends as much as they do during the week.
