Maybe this thread belongs in the thief section, but since it happened in WvW i post it here.

A few hours ago i was pvp’ing a thief on my warrior. With some luck i got him to downed state with a kill shot and used salve to finally kill him. His downed-state-hp was almost 10-20% when he suddenly got up on his feet with full hp and killed me.
Just for the record i mention, that there was noone else around who reviewed him. Just the two of us.
So … what exactly happened here?
As far as i know Revive Orbs can not and never could be used in WvW, or did that change lately?
Some ideas?

The only thing that crosses my mind is that he randomly leveled up from an event he was at before you guys fought. I’ve had someone I was about to stomp level up once, which revived him with full HP.

Were there mobs around you when you were fighting? He could have rallied off one and healed.

A Npc or Player he had attacked while fighting you died ( maybe even killed by your aoe) that means instant revival. A normal Downed State Mechanic.

Thats why you should use " Finish him " instead of spamming Aoe if a NPC has been added.

There were no mobs directly involved in the fight, but Okaishis scenario seems to be the answer for my question.

I think this should change in WvW. I was trying to stomp an enemy before the zerg caught up to him. I was just about the put the hammer down when he got up on his feet because the repel the enemy attacks event went off and he leveled. As a result he was able to CC me enough that I got killed by the zerg.

This element of unpredictability is what attracts me to WvW.

I never know what is going to happen next and even the uber-pro gank havoc roamers can have their sure win flipped by something as simple as a bunny rabbit.

One hour of paranoia in WvW is a lot more tiring than some scripted raid or arena event.

Bear in mind that the exact same thing can happen the other way round (especially if you get lucky AND know the tricks of the trade)
