Highly Over Powered Explorers [HOPE] – Desolation EU
Please look at the pictures below and tell me if this is normal behaviour for the Dragon’s Tooth elementalist ability.
To me it looks rather odd as the one casting them was still on the other side of the outer wall and these spells were following my guildmate and slammed down behind him while he was standing at the back of the wall.
So I’m wondering if this is current (bugged?) behaviour of that ability or someone using a zoomhack.
If I’m not mistaken, Dragon’s Tooth is player targeted, not ground targeted. The reason it’s falling sideways is because some of the aoe circle is on the wall.

Alright, but can you keep on casting it without LoS once you have targeted someone then? As you can see in the second picture, my guildmate was halfway down the stairs when it formed again.
To me something just doesn’t feel right to me as none of my abilities can hit someone standing on the other side of a wall when I’m still outside.
If the ele is where you say they are there is a pretty good chance they are using some bug/hack or know something I don’t. I remember some people using the Super Adventure Box view glitch to target siege with dragon’s tooth where they should not have been able to normally.

Yes, this is how it works.
It is worth knowing that Dragon’s Tooth does not have that great of a range, so if you get outside of the range it can’t hit you. Also, it’s possible to back off enough so that the elementalist loses you as a target. I don’t think this is normal out-of-targetting range length, but out of Dragon’s Tooth range and line-of-sight range. Basically if you wander into sight range so you can be targetted, don’t be surprised if you see a slow-landing Dragon’s Tooth aimed at you.
It’s got an AoE circle, and it takes a while to land, so is easy to dodge. And relatively easy to get untargetted (although that’s certainly harder for you to determine).
Some times if no one is targeted or the target is too far away it will throw at silly angles. i have it happen all the time. the pathing on it is kitten lol
Nah, that’s normal, Dragon’s Tooth is player-targeted and doesn’t require line-of-sight.
inb4 nerf to one of the worst skills in the game
At work so can’t confirm, but basically if you have an enemy target within 900 range, the Dragons Tooth will appear above said target. If there is no target it will fall 900 in front of where your character is facing. It is possible to hit seige outside of LOS based on this lack of target falling.
Ironically, this skill is normally really bad – takes a long time to fall, easy to notice/dodge and has limited uses outside point control/mightstacking/stun locked targets. Eles have been asking for scepter chagnes for a long time but nothing has happened – hopefully this may push that.
Hmmm, most peculiar. I may need to test this out myself then and see if the Dragon’s Tooth no longer requires LoS after an initial target is selected.
Originally I was under the impression that it was another case of members of a particular server cheating again. However, if I can replicate this behaviour I’ll commend them on clever use of an otherwise underpowered weapon ability.
Ofcourse it still begs the question if this use is working as intended or that it would be classified otherwise by ANet.
I’ll run some tests tomorrow then and see if I can target an ‘enemy’ siege operator in a similar location on my elementalist; for SCIENCE!
It’s behaving normally.
It shouldn’t be able to target through Line of Sight, however. That’s likely bugged.
As far as I know, Dragon’s Tooth still does not have LOS restrictions. The best way to prevent it from destroying siege weapons is to run out of the attack range of Dragon’s Tooth, and then just make sure the Elementalist cannot target you before getting back on the ac.
I’d love to see Dragon’s Tooth changed so it has LOS restrictions (seems only fair) but casts much quicker.
Dragon’s tooth does not need line of sight and as I understand it can be used to clear towers of siege if within its range. I have been told it works as the iBerserker used to – i.e., that if you use autotargetting and hit the skill, it will automatically target anything in range. If that is the case, you don’t even need to be able to see possible targets; it also means it should be nerfed because the iBerserker was nerfed for this very reason.
