To start of I saw a same kind of post as i am about to create. A point of view perspective from a commader who commands EOTM everyday for a few hours for FUN.
Everybody knows EOTM is a karma train, and everybody is getting tired of no balance and complain posts just like this one but try to listen me out.
I command EOTM everyday, you might have seen me a few times if you are from EU and likely FSP, Lokar Yakslapper. When i command i don’t focus on karma or caps. I focus on having fun. In the next block i will give a few examples on what i do as commander and what i count as fun.
- Run to a enemy tower which is being attacked by another enemy zerg o that you can kill the whole enemy zerg and have a open gate.
- Put heavy defenses in the keep and have 2 FULL rounds of defending. Yesterday i was commanding EOTM for 2 full rounds. As soon as we capped our own objectives at blue, red was already knocking on the forge gate. We put up heavy defenses in the keep and managed to kill 50% of them at north keepgate untill green suddenly rolled in and killed all of red.
Green quickly retreated when they saw our defenses and 1 minute later they were back with 3 golems with DIAMOND invaders controlling them. I had to call out for friends, people who added me to join me when i command, my guild everybody i could to get a hold on to win this fight and defend out keep. In the end the gate broke but we managed to kill them all by constantly waypointing when you are dead.
Stuff like this happened a lot within the last 2 weeks. With these examples i am trying to show you that you can have FUN in EOTM. And get rid of the karma train.
Possibilities to bring the WvW back in EOTM.
- nerf karma by at least 50%
- A % chance to get champion bags, making going eotm a “gamble” and as people rather want a steady flow of gold rather than a chance to get a lot.
- Points actually count towards WvW score, this should only happen when a good balance has been implemented and tested. And probably also only 25% of the score. EOTM ends with a average of 5k points every 3 hours. 24 : 3 = 8 matches a day,
8 matches * 5k points = 40k points everyday an average. This is a little to much and in my opinion should reduce to 25% (10k points) and count towards wvw score. This should only happen when balance is implemented and tested.
Possibilites to balance EOTM
- Remove/re-work transformations, all transformations are a lot of fun but create unblanaced/unfair play.
- Siege devrourer is to strong, you can take walls and gates within seconds. This creates a mostly unfair sitution for red. Though they are easily to kill you probably wont even notice they are attacking your keep since it is done so quick. Let the devourer do less damage, or let only a % of the zerg be allowed to transform
- spirit of light though i personally really love this transformation, transforming a huge zerg and move quickly and de-transform inside another enemy zerg killing them within seconds. I dont really think there is a unfair or unbalance with transform, yet it could be rather OP and if you nerf one transformation you should do the same to the others. Let only a % of the zerg be allowed to transform.
- Kodan Hammer in my opinion this one is just useless, i have tried it a few times and couldn’t find a use for them. I have no idea how to suggest a balance or re-work for this transformation. Nor could i think of a re-work.
Now i am not trying to impress, or say i am a good commander or any sort of thing related. With my commanding style i got a lot of compliment and to keep this going. I get a lot of people “thanking” me at the end of the round.
