While the map is beautiful, I feel the layout of the map is really bad for roaming for several reasons. First, a large section of the map is walled off. There are so many layers to the map and yet as a roamer you don’t feel it because they are all behind enemy walls. Second, enemy npc mechanisms can be annoying. There are some nice open areas in the desert map, but they are all covered by the turrets, which I feel is a bit overturned. Lastly, the environmental effects can really tips the balance for fights.

What do you guys think?

I agree but even if you took away those things the map is clearly designed for large fights. The terrain forces players towards each other.

On the same hand it also punishes poor play because the run back to the zerg can be very long and very difficult to avoid enemies. So the map creates this synergy wherein you need to move a large group of players around more carefully than I feel the Borderlands do.

Leader of Contre [VS], just a bunch of zen adults
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.

I like to think of this as a challenge. I love roaming and I’m having way more fun in this map! If I see a blob attacking my keep I run behind it and kill the people who are running to their blob. They’re pretty much forced into small areas so it’s easy for us roamers to predict their paths. The new NPC’s is something I really like! Finally some challenge in attacking those NPC’s. The ones in the borderlands are laughable easy to kill IMO.

it is horrible for roaming, because players have already figured out that it should just be one giant pug filled karma train. And we know what trains do to roamers.

It is understandable; realistically would you expect the vast numbers on eotm to try & roam?

Just wait for the blob to thin out and attack the refill. People will die and get picked on by guild groups, then they have to run a long way to get back to their blob – just pick them off on their way.

I was only 1 hour at EotM, my head started to hurt. The level of the zergs and players there was far worse than in other WvWvW maps.

The map design feels too cramped with way too many choke points, way too little open landscapes and way too many edges where you can fall. This gives unfair advantage to those professions which have easy access to stability or have lots of skill which has push enemies off the edge.

Basically the idea of EotM is excellent, pity the execution is so bad. EotM could have been a great beginner map where one could train for the actual maps and share great WvWvW moments over different servers. It could have been completely void of those NPCs, traps, turrets, siege, completely overpowered buffs, more like just varied scenery, open fields, some river, lake, hills, patch of forest and few keeps and towers.

First Arenanet ruined the borderland maps by introducing ruins of power and deleting the lake. Now this…

Oh well, I can still roam in Eternal Battlegrounds.
