Well my hope is that the matches between Gunnars, FSP and Piken will be more interesting than the meh matchups we have atm.
It seems that RoF,FR and DL are having the best matchup atm.
Gandara have won since the day they announced free transfers so personally i am not bothering with ranking this season

who cares anyways… not that #1 gets more skins than #5 …

Clearly whoever wins silver is a high-popped gate-farming server. Probably the freshly buffed Gandarites that will steal maps from their opposition in off-peak hours.

Of course, their performance could change drastically in next match-up when they’ll be getting an equally populated opponent – but with more skill to accompany the numbers.

I bet all the “old” Gandaran WvWers are really happy about the new influx of players they got. I mean, a queue of 100+ for all BLs and 200+ for EB at prime time must be their favourite pastime, right?

And yet some of them still come to the forums to gloat with their “success”. I’ll have my <10 minute queues rather than “success” any day, thanks

I miss the old battles we had with piken…

Wipe our zergs please. The old Gandaran WvW players are good because we went through trials by fire and the new ones need that too.

Those who can’t handle that or fair weather warriors will leave and only return when we are having landslide victories that WvWers get bored of. The people who will stick to it and learn to be stronger in the face of challenges, will be better for it.

Basically how it will work is: WvW will be boring (2 hr+ queues, maps 70+% green) for most/all of the tournament. Gandara will then go up to Gold, get annihilated for a few weeks (causing the bandwagon guilds to transfer out), then we’ll drop back down to Silver again and can go back to enjoying WvW. So basically: if you’re a non-bandwagon Gandaran, come back some time late July.

But during prime time I see blobs of 80+ people fighting 20-25 people guilds of Grandara. Because they need so much people to fight against them they can only hold 1 objective.. As soon they go for another objective a 2nd guild of Grandara takes back the first objective.

So quantity isn’t always the reason of winning. If you would be able to fight our guilds with less then 80 and split up a bit more you could get more then 1 objective during prime time.

On the border we were running during reset FSP was running in a server blob with ended up them only could hold one keep.
Sunday and Monday FSP stopped doing that (had some good fights against some of their guilds) but then piken did it. With ended up holding only one keep and one evening only one tower.

Guess we must have been on the wrong border then. Lets hope we chose the right one tonight.

More then one good organized groups are always better then one very large group with lots of rally bots. Even if they manage to win against the smaller groups they loose on the PPT.

The last time we were against them, there were approximately 3 people under the map the entire week, ensuring no siege remained up very long. And, for some reason, ArenaNet ignored the screenshots, the repeated reports, so obviously they appear to condone this sort of bad manners, No wonder the hackers continue doing it.

Right now Aurora Glade will be lucky to make “Bronze” league whilst servers that SHOULD be in Gold League are running about defeating them. How to make people really want to take part in WvW to be soundly trashed each week … NOT.

No need to try and get the thread closed….if its the perm invisible ele and thief you are referring to, I can assure you that FSP are aware of it but cannot do anything about it as they don’t show as a greendot on mini map and are invisible to us also so we can’t report them. Nobody on the server is communicating with these guys and we don’t condone hacking or cheating…….try and keep on topic.

it’s sad that instead of focusing on balancing matchups, they just randomly alter rules destroying what server communities built with hard work in the previous months, de facto rendering useless long term efforts, team building, strategy, skills ecc, favouring last minute bandwagoning and opportunism. Meh, as per old Gunnar’s tradition, we may be outmanned, but never outgunned .

The only mistake Anet made was having Gandara as the only free server that was international (not french, german, or spanish).

Of course everyone will transfer to this server as the only english speaking server that is free and isn’t either a blob style (gold) or small roaming style (bronze).

As soon as it was announced who the free servers would be I knew that’s where most people will go to only for this one reason. After the tournament we should see people move off Gandara if the queues remain.

WvW really is all about coverage. Nothing else seems to matter. Even the number of quality of guilds is fairly meaningless for the score overall.

Case and Point: Drakkar Lake, Gandara and Gunnar’s Hold were all roughly equal throughout the evening, yesterday. All servers had queues and kept each other at bay.

Log in the next morning and Gandara has overtaken everyone else by more than double the points.

It’s really disheartening to have coverage decide EVERYTHING in WvW. Might as well just skip WvW all together and just give the rewards to the most populated servers.

I really enjoyed WvW for the first week of new season, but now against Gandara, there is pretty much nothing to do. You can try hard during the day just to wake up tomorrow and see everything in green color. No fun, no motivation… thank you for free transfers before season 2 I guess?

For what it’s worth, most of the existing Gandarans dislike the bandwagoners just as much as you do. Our queues are now beyond ridiculous and all-green maps with nobody to fight aren’t much fun for us either.

What I’m hoping will happen is that at the end of the season we’ll temporarily go up to gold. We’ll then get roflstomped, meaning hopefully the bandwagon guilds will go away, and drop back down to silver again for more balanced competition with the servers we used to enjoy playing against.

I think it’s silly accusing a whole server for hacking but on the other hand if they are taking advantage of those hacks and cheats is a different story.
This is the 2nd week in a row where we have massive accusations of hacking.
Just don’t take advantage of it, dont capture that keep/tower tis simple.
I have to say that we are having a great season.
Gandara on one side, accusations of cheating on the other.
I get the feeling this will be a wonderfull season and Anet should be proud of what they have accomplished.

Totally agree, just give the rewards to whatever servers Anet wants and be done with it.
We can return to normal matches in peace afterwards.

@Immolater – it was me who called you Gandwagon. No offence to the Gandara regulars. It was a nickname made in jest. The second time I said it was in response to a poster from Gandara (prob one of your blow-ins) saying Piken and FSP basically had a l2p issue, and that we weren’t getting hammered due to the numbers/coverage issue.

As for the hacking. I don’t know how many times I can post this. We as a community do not condone or encourage hacking or cheating of any kind. We ARE aware of situation. There is a topic discussing it on our forums. However as it stands there is nothing we can do to report them as they are invisible to us (can’t see tag) and don’t even show up on minimap. There is no communication with them. It is extremely unfair to label the entire server and we sincerely hope Anet stop them and ban them.

Piken will be 4th at best…the only time we got ques is primetime and the most i have seen is 55 in EB.Even if a guildy is stuck in que it won’t take more than 30 minutes to get in the map which is a blessing contrary to last season.
We are losing this cause of coverage,but i think all the server is having loads of fun.

Well Gandalf turned into Mordor is winning this for sure. Rest positions will be decided on coverage. So, 2nd place could belong to any server from FSP, Gunnar’s and Piken. Rest, I have no idea. Last place could be Fort Panic or RoF.

I am sorry but the words roaming and gandara at this particular matchup sounds like a bad joke. During this week i had more chances to run into an omega golem walking to a zerg than a single roamer.
(somehow the idea of attacking a wooden keep/tower at 5.00 am with golems seems appealing to your server)

You think Anet knew about the mass transfer to Gandara? Even after the move, no one knew how strong they would actually end up being when the league started. No one.

All is so disgusting that piken’s guild let the server fall into Silver league – This is the spirit of competition?

No one let Piken drop to silver. They lost 5+ guilds. They dropped down naturally due to being much weaker.

They did drop intentionally and the guilds that left Piken decided to play in an actual silver league server rather than a server brought down in morale. Piken has never been home to PPT players and it will never be.

2. Far Shiverpeaks
3. Gunnars/Piken

Though I think Piken is still stronger than Gunnars. But Who knows we pulled our selves out of a very tough matchup and gained lead on Piken in round 1. Who knows what Gunnars is capable of.

Please no generalizations here. Do you think we choose by ourselves to happen this? Anet enabled free transfers to our servers, blame them, not us. I (as an gandarian since launch) am also not satisfied with the situation, as it’s really boring crushing GH or PS during night. After reset night and the weekend I don’t even bother loggin in to wvw, as there’s no point at all fightig my kitten off, as we’ve already won.

Of course not, and I am sure native Gandara’s citizens are -righteously- upset about A.Net smashing their door and injecting foreigners into a well established system without not only asking permission to do so but not even consulting the population.
Yeah sure your server will “win” the season tournament, but you have been deprived of the chance to win by superior strategy and skills, and in the long run this may negatively affect the server much more than the benefits that will come with the final placement.
This kind of behaviours is what damage the whole WvW community the most:
- hardcore players feel betrayed (“they already decided and handled the winning ticket, what kind of lottery is this?”)
- the server that has been hit by the curse develops community uneasiness
- random players get a distorted picture of WvW dynamics
- everyone in general get nervous
- since everything is already decided, fun is removed
- most ppl is already wishing for the season to just pass quickly and forget it
- all other servers will be left in fear to be the “next gandara”

A.Net reasoning on this is beyond my logic, they still stay silent (which is probably what creates even more problems) and yet they had months to run a CDI about how we players would’ve liked this matter to be handled.

Maybe it’s not worth much, but I can assure that many ppl on GH understand how gandara’s players feels now.

Looking forward a brighter future, in which strategy and skills determine the outcome instead of numbers and dice throwing.

Can’t wait for this farce of a League to end. This matchup against Gandara seriously kittened me off.

Is this what ANet considers competitive? A server that has more than double the WvW population of all the other competitors.

You can’t even roam decently because EVERYWHERE there are dozens of Gandara running around and even if you catch the odd player his savior is just around the corner.

Gunnar duking it out with Drakkar in an epic Siege? Nevermind, here comes Gandara with 4 times the people and rolls over everyone.

Doesn’t each server have the same limit for each map? I have a feeling it’s 100 players from each server per map, but I could be wrong. To put it another way: if your server has a queue for the map you’re playing in, then Gandara doesn’t outnumber you.

Edit: We do however have unmatched early-morning (midnight – 3am) coverage, due to people being displaced from late evenings by Anet’s hellish queues

Yeah but GH has queues for maybe 2 hours a day on bl maps rest of the time we are lucky to have more than 30 on a bl map

The sad thing is, if Anet had not screwed things up and allowed free transfers to Gandara before the start of season 2, we would probably have had the most competetive league.

Gandara were reasonably strong before the transfers and I think the silver league would have been a 5 horse race with Gandara, FSP, Piken, GH and AM all having a good shot at winning (depending on how the matchups went)

It certainly wouldn’t have been the forgone conclusion we have now and once again, free transfers have allowed domination instead of competition.

The only consolation is, the new recruits to Gandara appear to be below the standard we have come to expect from the server.

As we on GH are facing Gandara for the third week in a row it is having an effect on the more casual players, who, justifiably are now thinking “What’s the point?” Gandara will win so why bother, and who can blame them really?

The rest of us? We will keep on plugging away, doing the best we can with whatever numbers we can muster

Personally, I think it should have been AG who got the free transfers, always a good fight and their recent fall has been a blow to them and the league.

I am sorry but the words roaming and gandara at this particular matchup sounds like a bad joke. During this week i had more chances to run into an omega golem walking to a zerg than a single roamer.

I’m finding the same of the other servers, especially GH. Say what you want, but Gandara was always a server with lots of roamers. That hasn’t changed with our influx of bandwagoners, we’ve just been somewhat diluted. I can count the times I’ve had fun small scale 1v1 or 1vX fights without getting ganked this season on 1 hand.
