Seems every other league has a thread of this sort so just thought I’d put one up for us in EU Silver league. Although personally I think it’s a bit early for me to be banging out my predictions, I got a funny feel it’s going to be one hell of a tournament as was the last Season. We got some strong and unpredictable servers this time around and anything can happen. I will place my thoughts on each individual server as they stand in the ranking at the time of writing this, and not in any order which i think they will rank.

Piken Square – Have lost a few large guilds, but even still manage to hold their ground against the big boys. Making them a strong contender for the top spots.

Gandara – These are gonna be a force to contend with, stacked to the teeth with a massive amount of free transfers and a very tactical community to put everything in place.

Gunnar’s Hold – Very Strong Server, and have unexpectedly managed to rock the biggest of boats. They hold their ground very well and will be a challenge for any Silver League Server.

Far Shiverpeaks – For me to give my views on my own server would probably be a little Biased, so all I will say is we have had a couple of smaller guilds transfer out and larger ones transfer in, leave the rest for others to fill in.

Aurora Glade – Unfortunately got hit the hardest by the transfers in silver league this time around, which saddened me greatly. However, if I know AG they will always have a fight in them no matter how many they lost, and even if they don’t manage to hit the top spots they will certainly not end up in the bottom spots.

Abaddon’s Mouth – _Always offer a good matchup, no matter how many people say they hate facing AM, there’s never a dull moment and always fights to be had.

Drakkar Lake – _Again like AM, German servers always offer some challenging moments. Although DL’s play style is different to AM’s, when I fought DL last time around they offered some nice challenging fights and always applied pressure.

Fort Ranik – Unfortunately not played against them in a while and not upto date with their current server state, but what i do remember from the last time we met was a very fun and entertaining match up.

Ring of Fire – Again like FR, I haven’t personally faced them in a while and could not give an honest opinion on my views of their current server state, but look forward to meeting them once again anyway.

If anything I have put down about any server that is inaccurate in anyway, please forgive me, this is just how I see the silver league at present, and look forward to other servers views.

I will update/make new post in near future with my predictions of rankings, as none of us really know how the PvE communities will contribute to our servers as yet, which may impact greatly on our servers rankings.

Unfortunately the current matchup is a bit broken, because not only has Gandara had a mass of transfers, but Fort Ranik and Miller’s Sound have almost zero presence at certain times of the day. It’s all quite bizarre.

We sorta had that problem at beginning of last season, just before season we had transfers in and ended up with queues on most maps and when season hit, the pve population joined in too and guilds could get their full rosters onto the maps for raids and ended up not raiding. Stacking servers prime time hits guilds the hardest as they need the majority of their roster on “same” map to get a successful raid.

I think FSP learned from their mistakes last big recruitment we had and was careful on recruitment this time around. So I think we be ok this season, or atleast i hope we will lol.

Edit: Someone also question in another thread about wondering what Gandara’s night force is like compared to other servers. Answer to that is I’m guessing it’s pretty strong, for example if you get say on average 3-5 people from each guild that transferred in that play later than the rest of the guild that’s a lot of people to add to a night time zerg.

Been avoiding WvW but I heard that the quality of our PUGs now is atrocious. So if Gunnar’s and Piken guilds aren’t hampered by queues they’ll have easy loot and PPT.

Not sure what night time is going to be like on Gandara. Could end up being just as ridiculous. I don’t think any NA guilds transferred to Gandara, so it might be relatively tame. There won’t be queues at least.

Berty put up a good recruitment thread, but in the end the free transfer status of Gandara is what really sealed the deal and is the main result of what we’re seeing now. I don’t blame anyone for taking advantage of the situation, but it’s just not really the sort of activity that lends itself well to community building. We’ll just have to see what happens when the seasons begin.

One thing we do know, is that Silver league will be a lot more competitive this time around. Gunnar’s, Piken, FSP and Gandara should have some good fun when they come up against each other.

I’m curious as to how the launch of TESO will affect WvW. But there’s no reason to believe it will hit one server harder than another.

Anyway, as usual the server with the best coverage wins, and while I don’t know much about other servers I do recall Piken Square having a massive WvW population.

Gandara is already dominating Silver League and will probably continue to do so.

Everything else will just stay as is. The WvW hierarchy has been clearly established for a while now and I don’t see it changing.

Well everybody knows what server win, but it will be interesting to see if gandara can get over 300k points every match.

Don’t count AG out of the top 3 just yet, we still have a few tricks up our sleeves.

gandara will be 4th placed…. the queues are hurting our performance big time. Also part of the new ppl that joined don’t match the skill our regular players have.
But then again… wouldn’t mind to come in 4th or even last place.

Well I would have thought so but a very large portion of their WvW community came FSP a few weeks back apparently 200+ players but not sure if the numbers are entirely true, thats without what went to other servers, I know they also had a few guilds in but not sure if it’s large enough to cover what they lost i have no idea, just speculating ofc.

Will be awesome fights against Gandara, Piken and FSP. I honestly don’t know who will win this.

I am 100% certain that Gandara will win but there is no chance for them to pass 300k each matchup.
Now that the transfers are over i can say, that if the league started 2 weeks earlier i would have bet money that Gunnars, FSP and Aurora would be the top 3.
Now is different and i think that after Gandara it will be FSP, Piken and Gunnars Hold.
Abbadons mouth has an american guild EP since last weekend and i am surprised nobody mentioned them:)
Aurora will be right there with Abbadons and Drakkar except if their huge pve crowd come out to play.
There are still some top class guilds there.
Fort ranik i didn’t have the chance to play against them recently and given the RoFs huge increase at wvw population (transfers) it will be a batle for those spots.

I agree with this, but i would switch out Drakkar and AG – AG might even come out on top of GH, depends on their offpeak militia.

Current matchup isn’t representitive because opposition is basically non-existant. On reset I saw first enemy player 2 hours after the reset started.

We are just talking and trying to predict some stuff.
You are correct that qs could prevent top guilds from aserver and that could be a factor.
However no match have ever won or lost during prime time.
Prime time sets the tone and it’s something to boast but it is offpeak that wins matches.
If 5% of all those new wvw players that gandara received will play during offpeak then
it will be no contest points wise and that is why almost everybody is picking Gandara to win silver league:)

It’s goina to be a tough one imo, I think Cilag may be right. No way this is goina be a walk in the park for Gandara.

Having said that, if we manage to stay focused on our tactical strengths along with our additional numbers, we could be very difficult to beat.

I’ll be there most of they way :P so watch out, Treb Master is coming for you!! :P

I hope we will have a good fight between Transfera, Piken, GH and FSP. Gandara scoring 300k every week would be way too boring for every server involved.

Either AM or AG will be fifth. Although many guilds left them, most of them didn’t care about PPT at all. Thus their rating will probably remain stable-ish around 1500-1600. Compare to UW with it’s total WvW collapse: -80 rating this week alone. But AG in top 3 will never happen.

LOL Transfera, Stackdara etc. I always preferred Gandara, they have awesome serverwide tactics. Don’t know how’s that going to work out with all the new folks. Coverage and tactics will win this, primetime will be epic fights, skill tests (lags). EB will be awesome from the start of noon till midnight. Top spot ? My guess is either Gandara or Piken. Fort Ranik’s main huge nightcrew guild, I think it was EO, moved to Arborstone ..so, I can’t tell how they gonna do. Good luck with few hours remaining, wish you all awesome loots and precursors from Far Shiverpeaks !

RoF has been doing quite well last few matchups, although I have not been paying much attention as to how well our opponents have been doing in other matchups (We might just be getting easy opponents xD)
Regardless, I ( and I am sure everyone in WAR will do the same) throw my all into it!

Gandara seems stacked to the max so coverage shouldn’t be an issue for them AND they’ve got some hardcore guilds that can do damage.
PS also has a large population and gold league experience
FSP is looking strong at the moment and had some strong guilds transfer
AM is really tough to deal with, big zergs and many arrow carts
GH I am not really sure, they seem strong as well
AG Lost a lot of guilds (to gandara, FSP & RoF mostly) and morale has been pretty low but we still have a good core and some good guilds. Maybe our massive PvE population will help the first few weeks.
DL is strong as well but seems less stacked than top 5 servers of silver league
RoF is coming from Bronze League but they seem like a strong community and some of AG’s most WvW dedicated guilds moved there so I expect them to put on some pretty good fights. They might end up higher in the rankings but it’s hard to predict without seeing them in action
FR is probably the server with the least coverage, they might offer so good fights at prime time but I don’t see them being much of a threat to anyone in this league

RoF doesn’t really belong in the Silver league but we’ve run out of opponents in the Bronze league. Hopefully we don’t just get run over every night. That wont be fun.

With the new way the league works only the first 2 weeks or so may be difficult for RoF because you may still face some of the top silver servers.
But after that you will mostly face servers with points similar to yours.
So you’ll mostly be facing FR and DL, and every now and then some server from a bit higher up.
You prolly wont have to fight Piken, Gandara, GH or FSP at all in the second half of the season.
Unless RoF does a lot better than what we expect offcourse.

Hopefully Gandara won’t do well, so that the bandwaggoners will ruin another server instead.

kitten that’s nasty, not logged on yet to see what FSP queue’s are like. Things like that can break communities, with guilds wishing they never transferred and stayed where they was etc.

Be a bit of a kittener if u got disconnected with queues that long, you’d probably turn to self harming lol.

On FSP que’s at peak time were around EB: 160, FSP border: 80, other borders : 50
EB is still the same now , borders are going down a bit.

I think on GH the situation was something like:

i got dced 1 hour in the prime time and got back in the border 10 min later xD

Anyway i think ppl are oversetimating GH’s performance, yea the pugs are good and we have a lot of hardcore wvwers, but in general we are much lower in population than any of the servers we are facing. Posibly if the rest of the servers PvE population starts to slack then GH will pick back up the pace and be able to compete with the big stacked kids. Otherwise we cant compete because we dont have the ability to pull those numbers constantly from PvE. Anyway there is going to be some epic fights in this tournament with all the great guilds in silver Well if they manage to pass the Q’s that is xD

Btw Gandara closed recruitment before the free transfer actually open, Tup and Dawn were going to move to gandara no matter if was free or paid, i would actually prefer to pay and get less queue, they problems has been than a massive amount of Guild transfer without asking and people from Gandara actually told them to not come and they came anyways, can’t do much about that, Gandara aside recruiting Dawn and Tup and i think Alph didn’t want much more than that, everything that came after came without much asking or just transfering and saying “we’re here” Yes queue are mental i except that and yes Gandara will go to gold league after the Tournament it’s finish.
Tournament wil be a very good occassion for gvg, if the farm stop at the entrace that was pretty fun!

I wonder what brilliant minds decided to give a server with perhaps the biggest populatiokittenlver league free transfers.
I can understand to give free transfers to Vabbi,RoS, BLacktide, WSR etc free transfers but seriously to Gandara?
Well it is only 9 weeks that the other servers and the core people of Gandara will have to endure this, after that comes Gold League except if anet has another brilliant idea to balance wvw.
Maybe they would give Vizunah, SFR and Riverside free transfers to balance gold league.

The only people that don’t deserve this is the core population of Gandara that fought hard for more than a year and now they have to sit in qs.
I believe if Gunnars gets to play Piken and FSP it will be an exciting week.
Abbadons with the Amricans looks strong also.

Anet makes a fortune from the Gem sales and server transfers, They couldn’t care less about the imbalance and bullcrap is causes.

I’m done with this tournament, Can’t have fun and fight properly in this broken enviroment that causes such lag and unresponsive skills.

Not sure how many are in the other guilds. So I’m hoping for good things in Gandara. It’s been fun so far. As FoW was a diying server this is a nice change to be able to play WvW with out being steam rollered every few minuets.

Anet should have seen this happening but they have proven time and time again that they know nothing about WvW and the people playing it.

Basically how it will work is: WvW will be boring (2 hr+ queues, maps 70+% green) for most/all of the tournament. Gandara will then go up to Gold, get annihilated for a few weeks (causing the bandwagon guilds to transfer out), then we’ll drop back down to Silver again and can go back to enjoying WvW. So basically: if you’re a non-bandwagon Gandaran, come back some time late July.

We all realize from the word go that Gandara is #1 spot, but looks like 2/3/4 positions gonna be quite interesting.
