Hey everyone, this is mainly an attempt and getting an answer from the dev’s.
I’ve been on Vabbi since the game was released- and we’ve earned a lot of influence for our guild, it was amazing in the beginning for WvW, but now it has come to the point were it’s near impossible to get a team together. The transfer for free to any other medium server took more than enough of our Vabbi WvW players, because they seen it as a lost cause, most of us still believe in Vabbi, but we have the lowest population than any other server. We’ve been paired against Blacktide & Arberstone [FR] in the past few months, and they totally walked over us. I know what people are going to say, just pay for the transfer. Or you should have moved as well for free when you had the chance, but it’s not that simple because that doesn’t solve the fact that this is a big problem and should be seen as such.
I’ve been in contact with quite a few Fissure of Woe players & commanders, and they feel the same.
To keep Blacktide at bay last week we forged an alliance with Fissure of Woe to take on the invaders, it was amazing seeing Fissure defend Vabbi in Eternal Battlegrounds while Vabbi held a foothold at their keep. They sent wave after wave of fighters, and Vabbi & Fissure took them down. So alliances like this could also work.
What I’m asking is that you keep the free to transfer open to all tier 9 [EU] & all tier 8 [NA] servers, or have them merged with other servers, or introduce an alliance feature like GW1 had.

t9 eu doesnt complain nearly enough.

youre in the same ratings black hole t8 na was in. but nothings been done about it yet.

Unfortunately, EU T9 isn’t really a rating blackhole as much as a (lack of) population black hole.

the inbalance is big enough that whoever is green usually still manage to gain points & eventually catch up with a tier 8 server, unlike how NA T8 was/is.

Despite how it looks, it seems to me that the rating is actually accurate.

Part of the problem is indeed what happened to NA T8, that mess have probably put off a lot of EU from transferring to Vabbi/FoW as doing so in large numbers will almost certainly create another black hole in the ratings… and thus no-one transfers for the sake of a healthy ranking system. >_<;

Those of you who are still persevering in Vabbi & FoW, you’ve really earned my respect!.

As much as you tell the truth, you have to agree that it would be better for us to merge the servers together or close them down. Because there is some of the vabbi population that just doesn’t want to play WvW where the rest does. We had a guild called [FRS] join vabbi, they brought 10-15 players and took over 80 Vabbians with them to another server. This doesn’t help either. All these guilds come to rob what little is left. So rather than see it drag out anymore, I’d like to think the dev’s would close shop end tier 9 and let us be on our mary way

That’s what I call going down with the ship. I mean… all the way to the seabed.

-With the way WvW works, you would have to merge 4 servers, find 3 separate pairs or merge 3 servers & another pair in order to close down a tier.

-The servers you would merge with would have to be picked based on overall population rather than WvW participation.

-This would make servers like Blacktide & Ring of Fire off-limit as they both sit on a “Very High” population.

So while Vabbi’s and FoW’s WvW player-base could really use a merge, finding other servers that could use a merge as well is kind of difficult, especially when you take the PvE population into account. >_<;

That being said, keeping free transfers open to Vabbi & Fissure of Woe specifically, with a promise of a rating-boost should the transfers create a black hole, seems like a good idea at this point if they want to rescue your servers from the position you’re in. :/

Anet may not merge or reduce the servers as it may show a “negative” effect or people might start thinking the game is dying

unfortunately, it seems to be that unless u constantly complain, which EU doesnt and NA does a lot!

they don’t really bother with any changes vabbi has already hit the lowest ranking and i don’t even know if its possible to go lower,

i can understand how u feel, cos we being in Tier 1 are outmanned for 18 hrs a day by VS.

Merging or disabling wvw in lower tiers will definitely bring back a lot of competition.

Vabbi & FoW should be merged with WSR, except for vabbi & fow our wvw population is the lowest of all servers.

Totally agree … there r new players goin into wvw all the time. And sure is like “wtf is this” for them in that tier.
Not everybody can afford 15g for transfer.

the system isnt designed to handle gaps larger than about 250.
the difference between arborstone and fow is 400.
its a black hole.
population is definitely another black hole though. im not sure i understand the need to have 2 dedicated servers for each language (for one thing).

There was a free transfer in the last week of March to all med populated servers. I’m sure there will be other opportunities for a free transfer to another server in the future – make sure you grab it then if you cannot afford a paid one.

I transfered from FoW to RoS on the last day of the free transfer week. It was a hard choice, mainly because ArenaNet didn’t do anything in particular to boost the population of FoW to at least have equal numbers in WvW. After playing with RoS in WvW, though, I found out it was the best choice I’ve made in the game to-date.

Thing is Fissure of Woe can match Arborstone’s numbers in a single borderland and thats pretty much it, we had a similar thing with Blacktide last week too.

The main issue with the match ups in Tier 9, is that its a 1v1, not a 3 way fight. Vabbi are a much smaller server than even Fissure of Woe, which means we very rarely have any pressure taken off of us. I think the biggest group of Vabbi I’ve seen was about 30 when we were in their North East Tower last night.

So ideally Vabbi need more players, whereas Fissure of Woe isn’t in such a dire need. Problem is as mention a few Guilds have transferred across before to make their big break, and then jumped ship shortly after.

Yea but you need to put in some effort to get enough people into one BL. FoW is excellent in terms of tactics and strategy, but getting enough people to play occurs only in-between certain hours. At least that was the problem 3 weeks ago.

Well, when I was online yesterday he was wearing his commander tag and was posting constructive comments.. :/
So either his account was hacked or he has learned that being on all people’s block list isn’t the ideal way of working/communicating..

Since normally it’s a constant “sick kids”, “noobs”, “I can take on 25 BT’s on my own”, “I’m perfect since I spend tons of cash in WvW, so you all have to listen to me”, …

Just out of interest what number are on each map … The other 2 teams I was thinking to have some fun ..

first of all, my sincerest respect for all the players in wvw on vabbi and FoW.

atm someone from our server (drakkar lake) is visiting on vabbi and reporting back his experiences. there are some dedicated people on this server.
for me personally it’s good to hear their statements and the problems on this server to put my problems in a higher tier in perspectiv. we complain about queues on the homelands, although they exist only during 2 hours on primetime. after 4 weeks of the same matchup, the matches and wvw in general seems stale. there are complaints about the people, who don’t join our TS, even if we have 30+ people in every channel.

when i hear the stories of our visitor on your server or when i read this thread, i’m reminded, that there is nothing i should complain about.

on the topic of changing the server, in my opinion you choose a server and you stick with it. a) because you have your connections (friendslist, guild,etc.) on that server and b) because loyality is a good thing even in our day and age.

first of all, Id like to say, stop telling us to transfer server please. we have put so much time and effort and money into making our server do the best at wvw. both vabbi and fow have done this. we will NOT transfer. We will go down with the ship, we will defend to the last man, and will we crush whatever size zerg we have to to get out of this rut. we fall down, we get back up. we are just having a little bump in the road right now. we just need a little help getting more players to get over this bump and get an even matchup.

I heard from a friend that Blacktide has now lost over 300 players (Full Guild) to a server change. Things just keep getting better.

Fissure has turned its attention now to Vabbi as the threat that we possibly could pose. Haha..

Just like to say Vabbi will still fight the good fight, even tho Fissure has turned its back on us.

The blackholes just got bigger within our tier.
