Ele or Necro?
I do like the fire side of elementalist, can that be tailored around a crit build?
Hi , I’m relatively new to the game and I am trying to decide on a class for WvW.
Right now I’m torn between Elementalist or Necro. However, I am trying to go more towards big crits rather than conditions and was wondering if there was such build, which one would be best?
Probably Ele based on that requirement.
Miranda Zero – Ele / Twitch Zero – Mes / Chargrin Soulboom – Engi
Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro

You can spec fully into the air tree for crit chance and damage and get the big crits from fire skills.
If you want to be a glass cannon spec fully into the air tree and 20 in the fire tree. That will get you maximum crit chance and damage, increased damage on fire skills and decreased cool downs on fire skills.

Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro
A fully offensive staff ele’s Meteor Shower can be pretty scary, but be aware that you’ll be a free kill without teammates.
Also ele will be expected to use water/healing in WvW. Ele is a support role in WvW. You are supposed to stick with the cmd or sentry a tower.

You can drop water fields in any spec. That said, any ele expecting to do loads of damage in wvw is either going to be a., disappointed, or b., so squishy that he becomes a liability for his team.

Yeah but his requirement was big crits, eles are better than necros for that.

being squishy means you have to be smarter which is not a liablility to the team.

Just sayin, what an ele hears from cmd is “static!” “water fields!!”
Crit has nothing to do with that.
My WvW ele is all about healing and support. I run 20 water because I need the falling damage protection for all the jumping off cliffs and 30 arcana because you need to recharge your attunements as fast as possible. The skills that trigger when you dodge with 30 arcana stack boons too.

Q: re free kill. Is it true or not that if an ele goes into mistform when downed, killer gets no WxP?
I’d wait for the balance patch. That being said, for small scale play I feel Elementalists are in a much more stable position right now, and they have the added advantage of a much higher skill cap than Necros. Necros are quite easy to play and you can do it succesfully without much practice but there is absolutely not as much to “mastering” the art of Necro as opposed to mastering that of Elementalist, at least if you are playing D/D.
For zerg warfare I’d say it doesn’t really matter. Both are great in large scale combat and in the greater scheme it won’t really matter which you play.
