Elementalist WvW commander build?

I don’t like the idea of commanding with staff, as you’re not a frontliner… I do command sometimes as D/D tho.

Yes its actually way more feasible to run a solid cantrip bunker dnd build for commanding over staff, as staff dwellers are backliners or sideliners and commanders need to direct the flow of the zergs force which is why guards and warrs still make awesome commanders
not. why would anyone use ele for commander.
hope that is not on my server. get back on yer staff and serve some water, duh
I command as ele with staff, this is usually my config:

usually im the last one to die.
Obviously you cannot tank: you have to adopt other strategies.
Leave warriors do their job: your zerg is your best weapon. Stay in the middle of front line and burn enemies with lava, meteorshower etc. Brainless zerg usually run away and you group can hunt them down one by one.
Nomads and dagger/focus. Maybe PVT weapons. Ele scales really well off healing power, and you need high toughness and vitality, so nomads work quite well.
There’s a good reason why most commanders opt for warrior or guardian. It’s not cause they’re naturally tanky, but that they have strong melee engagement skills. Without strong melee engagement skills, you will not be able to control your melee train as well, and backline suffers for it.
Ele has pretty decent melee engagement skills though, so it shouldn’t be too bad. I used to do it on d/d a long time ago with full PVT and Dolyak runes and survived quite long.

I used to lead zergbusting on this build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFEQFAWnMISLD24AGOA/aG4BQIPM4ORBKnN5TA-T1BHwAAuAAq2fIk6PCV+N4BAIWHwTlgBAQAu5NDA+tv9tv9tvJFATKjA-w
I used to switch between staff and D/D for traveling and big fights.
So the conclusion is yes , you can use a DnD ele, but if you could, choose a guard or warr.
We have no ele commanders on TC.
We do have some outstanding eles. They just very rarely command, only tag for a few minutes in emergencies.
Any class can be viable for commanding but there are some clearly better ones to choose from.
Eles are generally a poor base class for WvW commanding even though they are a good anchor class. Much of their durability comes from remaining mobile in fights which isn’t particularly good for commanding. A still ele is generally a dead one.

The amount of Healing Power stat in this thread is too kittened high.
RvR isn’t “endgame”, it’s the only game. Cu in CU.
I think the best build for elementalist as a commander is the following
Reroll Guardian

first of all, commanding on an ele shouldn’t be considered as a good commander class, because of the fact that you’re having the lowest healthpool in combination with the lowest armor. Also because people dont see ele’s that often commanding people normally lose their focus be4 you can even show them your commanding skills, simply because of the fact that many people are tunnelvisioned on the guard/war commander meta.
That being said there are some viable commander builds for the ele. Since you’re gonna have to command the main ball you will have limited amount of moveability skills in combination with the highest surviveability possible. The big pro for being an ele commander is the fact that you are gonna be able to drop your own fields, so you are sure that your water/fire fields are gonna be dropped in time and since you’re commanding you’re probably gonna walk infront of the zerg, and therefore you are the first person able to cast a static in the enemy zerg trapping them be4 they split up.

If you want to run on ele commander i’d say this is the most viable build. you can swap staff for d/f instead, however this will basically blow away every single reason why you’d want to play an ele commander since the fields are the most important part of ele commanders. I did some 60v60’s with this build and you should be able to survive, however it is ofcourse harder then commanding on guard/war. Also take note of the fact that you’re not running empower, this means that you will have to time all the empowers on their cooldown so you know when you can cast it again.
When running this build you’re gonna act like a meleetrain, that means you’re not gonna be able to cast your MS or whatsoever and barely able to tag alot of mobs sice your continuosly moving with the main zerg and therefore it’s hard to think about the meleetrain positioning+your own fields at the same time. Basically you’re not gonna deal alot of damage, be squishyer and have less focussed players on tag. You can try it out ofcourse and it’s definitely a nice feeling to be that heroic ele, but guards/wars are simply a much more viable choice.
I think the biggest problem with other class being a cmdr beside warr and guards is access to stab. If your party can provide you stab all time, i guess d/d aura sharing build is the best

If you really insist not to use any of the heavy armor class, necro is also a good choice for cmdr role

D/F 0/0/4/6/4 , Armor of Earth, Arcane Shield and Mist form. That will give more stability and invulnerability uptime than a guardian or warrior with more stunbreaks. The only issues are toughness and vitality, which, with PVT or HVT, can provide enough of in conjunction with Dolyak or Melandru runes

Sometimes I see Valiwyn on, he only plays at night though. He’s a Sylvari Elementalist.
Stability is more important as fields. Hard to call stability rota with ele.
Just the WvW

That’s the truth. How would you even do that?
