You used it while they had beserker stance up. Makes them immune to conditions for a few seconds. Basically you used your elite at the worst time possible while playing bear bow ranger.

No. Your elite applies immobilize and bleeding, both of which are conditions. Berserker stance, which the warrior had on makes them immune to all conditions for 8 seconds. Pay attention to these things
I’m with Carpboy on this one, who cares about the entangle, how do you have 54k health and half of its gone putting you somewhere in the 110k health range ?

Just wondering if anyone saw it… – that’s a number that always comes up (it goes up even higher) just before one is dropped to the ground. It’s a game glitch and doesn’t reflect the player’s condtion at all.

So what you are all saying is that Rangers have no Elite – just “maybe” skills that mostly don’t work.
Regardless of the Warrior so he’s “immune” IF he has that skill up, BIG IF

What others? I see only the warrior, ranger, and the rangers pet. The ranger is way put of range for entangle. Entangle works fine. You just can’t mash it whenever you feel like and have to look wether people are blocking or evading, or youre blinded. Hard i know

I didn’t just “mash it” – and wow, now trolling of you to say so.
I’ve used my Elite several times – not once besides on NPCs have I seen it even animated.
So where is the animation at all? It just disappeared BEFORE it was done?
Wiki states:
Entangle your foe. They are immobile until the vines are destroyed.
Damage Damage: 49
Bleeding: 8 s (4760 damage)
Immobilized: 1 s
Number of Targets: 5
Duration: 20 s (uh that hasn’t passed)
Radius: 600
Unblockable (not according to reality)
The wiki then goes on to say that the skill is indeed broken – it is blockable and I will not use it again.

In other words, again, according to its own tooltip and supposed action, it is broken if it CAN be blocked.
It’s broken – it doesn’t work and it doesn’t pop against humans – only NPCs for me.

You mashed it. Otherwise you would have checked his buff bar, our buff bar, and looked what he was doing. You would have seen the berserker stance and waited for it before mashing entangle. But you didnt wait and are now complaining how ranger elites are broken, when in fact you just got countered. However this thread will go nowhere. So i bid you good day

And you didn’t address the wiki even proving that the Elite Ranger skill Entangle is totally broken since it says right in the tooltip, “Unblockable”.

I use entangle every day when I’m roaming. It works fine as long as you use it at the right time. What’s really fun is snaring people on top of walls with it so they can’t escape.
Don’t worry though, I’m sure your strategy of running into melee range as a bearbow will make up for the times that you waste entangle.

IMO no elite should be negated by a lesser skill, or negated by stability

No, I was changing to my melee weapon – but I “see/process” very fast (I am speed reader ) so when I saw that my elite did not even go off (no animation whatsoever) I took the screenshot which does not show others that are around me except the Ranger and the Warrior – there are others…
I usually hit my heal, melee weapon and my pet f2 very close to one another but I chose to take the screenshot instead.
I could never call WvW PvP, which to me has always meant a sandbox of very limited space with very few people per side.

Yes my ranger pet screws up about half the time, you didn’t discover anything new here, pets have been broken since the beginning. No my downed skill doesn’t knock anyone down, because that’s not what the ranger downed skill does, it dazes people.
Oh and lose the bear. This isn’t PvE.

Slow down then. It is possible that you are confusing the game. Lag, server load, and network latency are real.

So because I use the condition clear on one bear and the chill on another and know they both regenerate health so I don’t have to worry about that as much, is a problem to you and others? surprise Not.

Entangle has a 120 sec CD. On your picture there are 113 seconds remaining on the CD. The vines that it summons can be very easily broken, especially if those people are intent on chasing you and cleaving/spamming AoE. They had 7 second to break those vines. The most likely thing is you immobilized everyone, but due to all the cleave and AoE flying around they broke the vines instantly

You want chill use a snow owl. You can chill twice as often and have a pet that will actually do damage. And using a wolf or hound to control your enemies and prevent skills from hitting in the first place is a lot better than the unreliable condition removal a bear gives.
Honestly the only benefit the bears might add is that your opponents might be so busy laughing at you that you can get away.

Not a bug, just a skill that needs to be adjusted. Even if you do catch people in it they constantly escape without destroying the vines. I’ve seen people dodge roll out of it.
They should change it to a pulsing attack, which would also help get around the ridiculous aoe limit. Rangers could use a little love.

OP had just taken ‘lethal’ damage and was in the process of downing. The health orb briefly flashes the amount of HP you’ll have in downed state.

Doesn’t matter if it’s blockable or not because Berserker Stance is not a blocking skill. This whole situation is 100 clear – ranger was out of range, warrior had BS on, pet got caught and immediately freed by warrior.

-if they aren’t interrupted, blinded, and are near my target (or i detarget and hit f3→f2) yup
- for the most part, the only pet hit i care about (my wolves initial knockdown) hits near-everytime
-ranger downed skills don’t knock down, they stun. and if I’m not blinded and they don’t have stability, then yes.
try casting entangle in your spawn area, without pressing any other buttons. if it shows the animation (you jumping up then smashing the ground) then it works and it not casting was a player error on your part. either blind, they had immunity, you moved in the middle of casting, you swapped weapons (it might interrupt it, I forget) you tried casting another spell, etc. etc.
I have nearly 1k hours in wvw on my ranger and I can count the amount of times my elites have bugged out on my fingertip. underpowered? maybe. bugged? no chance.
Druid main, 80 on all, Legendary ranked, Eternal and all that jazz (I go by Feyris in game)
