After months and months of being outmanned many guilds on the DR server are leaving for the zerg servers. This means that the problem of imbalanced WvW populations is getting even worse.

Sad thing is is the fix is 3 lines of C code.

The above makes it such that no side can have a huge number more players than the other sides. THEN ranks mean something other than WvW population because right now the population and ranks reflect each other.

Fact is that the company spends more time changing people’s names and creating dorky events than on fixing a major flaw in their game.

Pretty much this game is going down the tubes because of this. Why they don’t implement the simple rule is beyond me.

At the very least they should turn on free server transfers….

This doesn’t work, because it punishes more populated servers that face less populated ones.

The real solution would be to have the population spread on all the servers, but at the moment seems like ANet is not working on tools to easily (and cheaply) move guilds from one server to another: that would be a huge factor in ensuring a more even population distribution

1. If Anet takes it upon themselves to start moving players around, there will be broken communities and generally unhappy people, some of whom would probably just quit GW2. Also, this will have to be a regular occurance to avoid “stacking” as people come and go from GW2.

2. There is zero incentive to move to undermanned servers and the same goes for actually playing on one (the buff is a joke, and no other mechanics help out the small guys, none), I can bet my last dollar that players would rather suck up the skill lag and queues instead of opting for being on the receiving end of a constant steamrolling.

Server populations are arbitrary and basing who wins off that was really really stupid. As much fun as some of the actual fights can be, WvWvW is based on a horribly shortsighted premise.

How about rewards for “winning” servers that “win” by increasing their rating relative to what was expected. You might see people want to go to a lower server that doesn’t need much push to get lots of “wins”

Might I suggest to return a value, so that capturing code can interprete this value and give a corresponding message to the user? :P

Here is an idea… allow a few players to “guest” on the wvw of a server of a much lower rank… catch would be is that it is TOTALLY random, that you would be going with you and yourself only… Anet could assign these guests to be able to guest on the server they are assigned for the entire day…then tomorrow they would be assigned all over again. Totally voluntary, somewhat increased rewards to the Guesting players for volunteering while there, player could still play on their own server at any time of course.

Just an off the wall idea… but it could help the lower population servers and since you are essentially Guesting ALONE you would not be able to bring a Guild group over as one……. should be a rather balanced solution.

I like it. A mercenary system of sorts. Best make a thread on it’s own about it.

WvW is nothing more than glorified wow arena for rankings. Nothing you do has any lasting effect or really changes anything. I tried to play again after quitting for 6 months and NOTHING has changed. Same old same old. At least DaoC realm vs realm had some consequences and real benefits to it making it more than worthwhile for players to be engaged. Welp, back to World of Tanks where I win free gold (the currency you pay cash for) for capturing territories. Nothing to see here (yet).
