Entrance portals on Forts
I agree there should be some timer to re-enter but 2.5 min is crazy.
I find it funny that even a handful of attackers pushing out the portal seems to give you trouble. If som1 jumps out of the portal to fight when there’s a real arm they’re pretty much toast.
Your idea wouldn’t help much. Why? Because I can jump off the wall with a 50% fall damage reduction (less than 10% hp lost from leaping off the keep wall), do as much damage as I can manage, then warp into the keep through the portal.
Possible Solution
While a defender is within the confines of a tower (read: inside the tower walls) provide them with a buff called something “Tower Defender” with no actual bonuses.
1. The buff is re-applied every few seconds while the player is inside the tower.
2. The buff lasts 30 seconds.
3. The buff prevents a player from using entry portals.
Side note: if somebody warps out of a keep and you and your group of players don’t immobilize and knockdown that player and kill him in a few seconds, you’re doing something wrong.
If you’re having trouble with defenders jumping out, then maybe you don’t have enough people. All you’ll do is make mesmer portal a requirement, which will force defenders into doing organized pushes that from the sound of it will wreck your zerg if you’re having problems with unorganized attacks.
That said, a slight delay on going in and out wouldn’t be bad. I’d say force them to use the interaction button, but that would create issues when people die at the portal.

It’s not a matter of whether or not they should die as soon as they pop out of the portal or not. All i’m saying is it allows people to use it as an invulnerability which is clearly not using the portal as intended. Perhaps 2.5 min is a long time, but lets be realistic if you use it to escape from damage you shouldn’t be able to enter the portal again for some set amount of time regardless of whether you are entering or exiting the area.
The tower defender buff is an excellent idea though. 30 seconds is very reasonable and it solves the issue of portal jumpers.
