Update: Found the problem. The ring had to be removed from my slot and placed in my bag to get it to slot correctly. When the ring was equipped it would not allow me to socket the infusion.

No, that is my Amulet slot, and I also tried it on my Rings and all three items show the “red” background meaning you are not allowed to slot the gem into the infusion.

I put a WvW defensive infusion into my ascended laurel defensive slot just fine.

Your ascended amulet has a UTILITY slot. You can only put defensive infusions into defensive slots, and offensive infusions into offensive slots.

As I said, from laurels. Purely laurels, not the WvW badge + laurel.

I tried both rings (L/R) and neither work period. They are all red. I now understand what you’re explaining, but even with that the R ring is the same issue.

You are trying to put an (Offensive) infusion into a (Utility/Distinguished Circle of Logic and Defensive/Royal Signet of Doric) slot.

Should send in a ticket if it that infusion shows red on your Bagh Nakh

Please see above update to OP. The ring was bugged when equipped. I am now able to infuse the ring un-equipped. I purchased 2 Infusions as I have 2 rings I want to swap out to from time-to-time. Just have to do them un-equipped.
