Q:
Farming Badges of Honor
A:
Just do some dailies;, rest you’re better off doing something else. You’ll get 40-60 badges a day, and that would only take 2 days. Most dailies can be done by any character that has lots of stealth during a quiet time. Keep capturer is easiest in EOTM. If you have any friends that would help you, it becomes infinitely easier
Dailies also give xp boosters, and activating one just before a keep or Stonemist capture is a good idea. .
Another okay source of badges is from gaining wxp. This usually gets gained by taking structures like towers or camps quickly. In general, slowing down for a sentry is pointless unless you are doing it for a daily. If you have a good sized group (15+) Keeps can be a good idea but that depends on how many defenders you are fighting.
As for the leadership problem, you can try seeing if your server has some kind of voice coms or something to find people.
Failing all that, Badges come from AP chests.
And yes, actually playing WvW doesn’t seem to give you many badges. In the end, though for getting the actual WxP levels, requires you to have a decent sized groups and also for you to move fast. The ultimate result though is that in terms of acquiring what you need, there’s no point in playing for long stretches of time beyond getting dailies and easy caps. Sad, but that’s how it is atm.

Try playing it instead of “farming”.
…for the past 5 hours (FIVE kittenING HOURS), between capturing points and destroying gates…
…being interrupted by a bigger zerg leading to about 3-4 massacres where I managed to grab a few kills…

I didn’t need to know you are a stereotypical forum dweller.
You get ~1-2 badge for a keep/tower/camp capture.
You get 0 for getting a wall/gate down.
You get a few for killing enemy players.
You get some for daily achies.
You get some for Rank ups.
Choose what you want to do, but probably a blob farming enemy players while karmatraining is the best… EBG is that way <-

Three days? Five hours? Oh wow that’s a lot, especially compared to the time you spend in PVE. Hurry up, you cannot afford another day of hardcore badge-farming.
Just do the daily’s.
They nerfed the badge drop rate so badly, it’s now become like much else in H0T, and you need to grind it out to get anywhere.
Compare 1-2 badges and a terrible chest with the 20+ chests you can open at the end of AB meta event in a few minutes (and without having done the meta yourself) or the huge piles of loot you can get opening chests in SW, and it’s no wonder players don’t choose to stick around in wvw when there are better things to do with their time.
Q the usual ‘we don’t play for the rewards’ etc. True, some don’t. But the rewards are now SO bad compared to a spam 1 meta event in H0T that we are only left with die hards and some empty maps.
Hopefully they will address this faster than the AP rewards in wvw- as that took 3 years. And are still very high in some categories.
I’ve been using the Ostrich Strategy.
- I’ve spent a grand total of 15 minutes in silverwastes (getting to HoT.)
- I’ve spent a grand total of 10 minutes in HoT.
- All those stories of people making 55g per hour can’t possibly be true because that would be completely insane compared to what I can make in Desert Borderlands, or even in Drytop.
The way I see it, the money I make now running around by myself or with a few people taking stuff in the desert borderlands is WAY more money than I got doing the exact same thing in the Alpine Borderlands… because I would be ordering upgrades in the Alpine borderland. If you go from Negative gold per hour to barely gold per hour… that’s a huge increase. Ostriches are cool.

And there is no need repeating it. Go vent your hormonal anger outside. Take a walk, do some push-ups… Just don’t direct it this way.

Finished the dailies for today, I am pretty sure I got nothing from capturing anything, 4 from killing enemies (that was 2 badges, twice and I am pretty convinced now that the drop rate must be around 10% or less).
I also haven’t got a single badge from ranking up since I hit 12. Could it be a bug or something, or have they nerfed drops to oblivion?

its boring, but run eotm.
many badges very fast
As above, run EOTM.
It’s K-train to the maximum.
You get like 20 badges per cap. It’s an easy place to level up elite specs which is what i’m doing when not in normal WvW.
80 Ranger (3), 80 Warrior (3), 80 Thief (3)
80 Ele (2), 80 Engi (3), 80 Rev (2)

Use Wiki:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Badge_of_Honor
Badges as reward:
0-2 Bag of Loot Killing WvW defenders
0-2 Veteran Supervisor Take resource camps
0-2 Champion Tower Lord Take towers
0-2 Champion Keep Lord Take keeps
3-5 World Experience rank chests 3 Badges each up to and including rank 5; 5 for each rank afterwards.
Using the wiki was first choice, but the problem was that I am not initiated to the WvWvW content so everything seemed like jargon. Even in sPvP I have spent multiple hours more than WvWvW and I hadn’t touched that in 1.5 years until HoT came out.
Thus, I was looking for a more clear cut answer like ArchonWing’s. “Do this and that, while avoiding the other” type of advice.
Thank you Archon.
