I don’t see why this needs to be nerfed. What’s the point in farming wxp if you’re not participating in fights to use it. :P Good trade off in my opinion. You may be leveling your skill,s, but you’re not helping your server while you do so.
Best wxp farm is zergbusting anyway. I gained a rank and a half in under an hour fighting FA in SMC last night. Plus 5 gold in lootbags (and nothing lost in repairs.)

Because it’s a bunch of people taking slots in world vs. world without contributing anything of value.
It’s the same problem behind the jumping puzzle’s separation from Eternal Battlegrounds.
Either way, it’s almost guaranteed to get nerfed until the orbs are reworked. I think the issue is awareness, not intent.

It amazes me how few people realize, that week after week, month after month, there really is no reason to care all that much about the score… I like WvW, because it is an enjoyable game mode, but I have no incentive to care if my keep stays blue all week, or if it gets flipped every night.
The entire system is designed to reward servers for grouping up 150 people, and just flipping the borderlands over and over and over again… people get the most Wexp this way. Zerg vs Zerg gets you more bags, only if your on the driving side of the steam-roller.
It isn’t as if winning the week gets you better reward chests, more Wexp, or anything at all beyond the ability to go into your respective WvW thread and chest thump. Winning 9 times out of 10 comes down to coverage, and who has the personel across the globe willing to take undefended structures in off hours. The WvW “bonuses” are hilariously non-consequential.
