Q:

It would seem after the latest build that every piece of defensive siege on our map despawned rather quickly. It wasn’t the reset, and it wasn’t weather nodes as tower siege was affected. Has anyone else noticed this?

Some days yes somedays no, saw 2weeks ago 3 siegeweapon i built disaper infront off me after like 40min, then the day after it stayed for 24hours.

The timer resets when someone uses it, there are guilds resetting those timers so that defensive siege will always stay. That is why it stayed for 24 hours, I think the default timer is like 30 minutes, correct me if I’m wrong.

I really don’t see why the decay is so short. At minimum it should be an hour, but preferably two would be more reasonable. Or better yet, have the decay time be based on cost: 30m for ram/a-cart, 60m for ballista/catapult, 90m for treb, 120m for golem.

IMO I dont think siege should have a despawn timer. You dont expect reinforced gates and walls to convert back to normal ones every 24 hours.

Siege weapons are an integrate part of defending a keep, and if you ask me when one is built it should remain there until it is destroyed by enemy invaders, or the max siege cap is reached for that map.

Some people actually spend a lot of gold on blueprints, and to have them disappear after 30 minutes of inactivity seems silly to me. It also does not seem realistic, you build a siege weapon, pop off to grab a bite to eat, come back and it’s gone but the keep is still yours, seems utterly barmy to me.

And who wants to spend their time resetting siege weapons?! And if you are in a small group and take the keep, build siege to defend, go off to try to take another keep only to get pushed back by a large zerg 30 minutes later; you come back to an undefended keep which falls is minutes!

So I say get rid of despawn timers on siege.

Macros, you can use them as long as they arent macros.
Remember to buy the officially endorsed GW2 Steel Series Keyboard, it supports macros!
WvW, we only care if it affects the servers we play on.

It seems that if there is a ton of siege being built in that borderland that the oldest siege will despawn to make room for new ones. Last week when we did the borderland rush siege at server reset, all of the ballistas we built in the back of the lord room in Shad (first siege built probably) ended up despawning right in front of our eyes even though they were being manned constantly.

I understand there’s always been some mechanic for siege de-spawning but there has been a change recently. I defended our borderland the whole night, and ALL the siege de-spawned. This has never been an issue in the last month on our server. I built an arrow cart in a tower, fired it hitting something, came back and it was gone an hour later. The very same arrow carts would last days previously.

Someone was using them previously.

Siege has always despawned in 30 minutes or less. Maybe your server just never used a lot of siege before so the despawn never happens, but for us it always happens if we don’t refresh the siege.

Siege despawning has got to be the stupidest mechanic in WvW. If it’s to reduce lag, then ok, whatever. But having siege despawn having 30 minutes? You’ll push out of a keep, attack something, then get pushed back in and all your siege is now missing. At least increase it to a few hours before it despawns.

Also give us the ability to destroy siege we place as well. Annoying using 4 rams for a keep gate, and then not being able to drop anything on the next attack or defense.

I understand the time for siege placed in the open or used temporarily for an assault, but anything inside a tower/keep needs to stay for a lot longer. It’s just ridiculous to expect someone to have the job of walking around using/tagging siege every 20 minutes so it doesn’t despawn. A fully sieged/defending keep is not going to have every piece manned all day, you’re going to have enough there to hold off small attacks and alert for larger ones. The small defense crew doesn’t need someone off their post and running around tagging siege because of unneeded game mechanics.

Money sink. Sneaky way Anet. If you build defence, you earn the right to use it UNTILL the enemie kills it. Not anytime before. my 2 cents.

Legendary weapons can be hidden now!
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.
