Score update please

What 1v1 does do is improve your ability to micromanage your skills, since you don’t have the luxury of making micro mistakes and having others pick up the slack, in a 1v1 situation one mistake is more likely to cost you your life. (yes in larger groups 1 mistake can also do it, but the game is more forgiving with more people around)

I believe 1v1 improves your individual ability to perfect your understanding of timings, and your abilities. Is it the only skill you need for larger groups? Heck no.

There are quite a few skills that are needed for groups that you can’t possibly learn in a 1v1 or small group situation, that said, all fighting makes you a better player, both 1v1, small groups and large groups.

1) No, I’m saying it doesn’t really help. If you want to understand other class builds, instead of 1v1ing build the class in PvP and you’ll understand it far better than if you fought someone. Or you know you could just ask someone who plays the class.

2) I admit that 1v1’s help with understanding your OWN class and your OWN build better…but that’s ONLY if you’re built for 1v1’s. The entire metagame surrounding zerg combat is not about 1v1 but about group synergy (“abusing” combo fields is one example). In other words, why the kitten would I use my support build to 1v1 someone who is built for 1v1. It’s not only asking for a death, but it doesn’t help me either, nor does it help my team because now they’re missing their consecration guardian to reflect projectiles, cure conditions, stack area might, give quickness, fury, give area stability and protection, drop sanctuary on portal bombs, etc etc.

3) The only benefits really exclusive to 1v1 are learning how to 1v1 better. Most of everything else can be learned more efficiently in other ways, including PvE, in sPvP (especially this), and actually running with your commander. Support builds generally suck in 1v1’s. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not impossible for me to win 1v1’s now that I’m support (I’ve still never lost against the backstab nubs I’ve come across), but it’s far more difficult and I’m definitely far more effective in a group, and far more effective than I was in the past in said group.

4) in response to kylia’s point about learning to micromanage your skills with more efficiency, i assume that most people have learned to do this in PVE against large numbers of mobs by themselves? Because again, the tools you need for dealing with actual armies is different from the tools you need to deal with just one person. Ask your neighborhood friendly zerg whether they’d rather have a staff ele or a backstab thief fighting with them. I can tell you what they’ll tell you.

They were very tough fights which I respected, hence not 2v1ing you after, but when you post and say stop running away without any mention of the fights where you died, it sets the tone for the replies.

We have about 41 members, maybe 20 active. The most elite players this game has to offer.

B) Declined them entry to the guild.

Let the hate flow. Every server we fought learned our name quick. To say we are famous is an understatement. We have followers, stalkers and most of all haters. You cant get to be #1 w/o those along the way.

I think the reason OG is disliked on the forums is mainly because you guys talk an awful lot of trash, especially considering your small WvW presence. Most players have never even seen you on the battlefield, much less fought with you guys. The main reason everyone knows your name is because you talk about yourselves non-stop.

I have only seen OG one time in WvW. That was last night and that person choose not to engage me. To be fair there were quite a few people running around the area and it probably would have ended up a lop-sided battle. I am not saying you guys are not a good guild or have skilled players, I am just saying who knows and who cares?

I don’t mind having a nice fight vs someone unless it is a thif that permastealths or a mesmer that runs away tho his friends that gank you right away. Ikittenneed 10 people trying to hit 1 thief that is only visible for 2 or 3 sec, i will just walk away as it is not a good fight to begin with. if u need 6 to kill 1 mesmer go ahead, but if i have an epic fight with somone i don’t mind losing or if i win bow in the end. I have enjoyed some pretty epic 1v1 this week.

Yeah Just to clarify we aren’t new to DB. We’ve been here since launch, but lately haven’t been running consistently. The fights were very close and hard fought. Yeah i think we out number you by around 3 at the first fight, but the second was either dead even, or we had one more. Ya’ll are one of a few guilds that can put up a fight with close to equal numbers. Good fight, and good luck.

I gotta be honest, I’m not entirely sure. We weren’t allowed to do this the first week we fought them.
I feel like FA’s night presence has slacked off since then.

MY THEORY is that after FA’s mass transfers from IoJ, there was a boom of motivation for participation in wvw that may have died off a little now when the transfers realized that transfering from one higher tier server to another higher tier server didn’t really change anything.

Yeah, I thought we had a night presence too. I’ve been hoping we’d get EB blue keep at night at least once, so I can check that off my Necro’s WvW mapping tasks (my necro IS my WvW player mind you and not just doing wvw for the mapping, but might as well get it done, in case I ever actually finish PvE crap on her), but no dice. DB has an amazing day/morning presence and a pretty good night presence.
