There have been massive changes to the servers the past two weeks. Many big alliances (Ascension Alliance, Titan Alliance) have been splitting up and moving around to many different servers. These have caused very drastic population shifts. As a result, your current matchmaking system is going to very inaccurate for the immediate future. If the populations remain somewhat stable (unchanging) for three to four weeks, then the scores will correct themselves. However, what will happen if (in the very likely event that) guilds continue to move and the population keeps shifting? The matchmaking system cannot keep up with these volatile changes.

I highly recommend you match the servers up by adjusting their current score manually, especially at the top tier. For instance, Henge of Denravi (#2 Server) is basically a ghost town yet it is the Tier 1 Bracket and it’s might remain in this bracket next week too. That is completely ridiculous! Their current score does not anywhere near reflect their server’s strength.

This is an urgent matter and I sincerely hope you heed this advice and attempt to match the servers up manual for the sake of the enjoyment of those that WvW. These adjustments will hurt the “integrity” of the score, but I assure you that it would be for the greater good. Besides, the matching system is still not a perfect science; the scores do not necessarily reflect actual server strength, especially with free transfers still readily available.

While I agree with your concerns, I do not think going manual will help solve issues. What you are proposing is using subjectivity into point totals. It is very evident to everyone that HoD is not a tier 1 server anymore, but if the matching was manual, then where would one place HoD based on the current server strength in WvW (that is not an easy or quick determination at all)? Manually placing servers in different tiers would cause too much drama and perhaps do even more damage in the long run to point totals because you could accidentally place a server that suddenly got a couple new guilds that supposedly do a lot of WvW into a higher tier than it really deserves to be in.

I don’t know what ArenaNet plans to try to achieve with the way things are now with the 24 hour free transfers. It is an impossibility that they can use all of this data for 2 week match-ups with so many people and full guilds just transferring all over the place.

As things stand, HoD and IoJ are only 17 rating points apart. It seems a fairly safe assumption that HoD will drop and IoJ will move up.

I play on HOD, and will always play on it until I quit playing GW 2 which might be soon, since I am bored with it, but yeah HOD is a ghost town and I’d say even the worst server in the rankings might give us a run and beat us.

However, you said they might be in tier 1 next week? False… Not a chance… If a server finishes last place, then they drop down a tier and become green… If they finish second in their match, then they stay as the blue(usually) and the servers that win a match get bumped up a tier and become red(unless you are in tier 1, then there is nowhere to be bumped up to, you’ll just stay green).
If HOD finishes last(which it will) we will be down to tier 2 as green this friday.
If we finish last in that(probably will) we will go down to tier 3, and I expect us to be a tier 4 team when it’s all set and done but I can’t say for sure because people might come to HOD within those 4 weeks, so we could improve some, so my guess is tier 4, or even worst…… I was in world doing personal story, and to my surprise, there were tons of people in the level 80 map I was in, so yeah there are some that haven’t even touched wvw yet.

Personally I wished they could manually pick us a tier, but they would probably do a poor job of it, but I do agree, the server changes is screwing up the match making, but thing is, the way this is set up is working as it should because they will adjust to the right tier over time.
