Hey Everyone,
While server pairing is great and it’s nice to see some life in WvW. The prospect of constantly changing allies really makes life hard for the little guys.
I’ll be honest. Right now I (on Sanctum of Rall), feel like an Orphan. We got placed in an awesome foster home (Dragonbrand), however the day will come when we’re sent back into the system and shoved into a new foster home. What happens if we end up with an Abusive foster parent? Who are we as a server at this point? Every time the matchup changes we end up having to go to new voice coms, new server websites, make new friends and allies, and right about the time we feel like we belong, wham there we go again back into the system.
You’re leaving us but 1 choice to jump to a bigger server if we don’t want to be passed around like an orphan. It’s not a very uplifting thought. We just grew fond of the people were allied with and I know personally if I get paired up with some of these top servers, it will kill my desire to wvw at all.
I hope that moving forward there is a better alternative, because those of us on the bottom 12, really feel disconnected and discarded. Having to uproot everything every few months is going to get old really quick.
The “host” servers aren’t like parents, in my opinion. They are not really mentoring us or teaching us stuff we don’t already know. The are just hosts, like a host country of a refugee camp. Can we be called Refugee Worlds instead (since we’re not really guests, either)?
@Foghlada – all the hosts are full. right now you can only move from 1 nomadic existence to another. people on hosts can only become nomads as well if they move. some have done that and will just pay to txfr each re-linking – others are just sort of stuck…. I have a feeling the frequency of linking discussion will be quite contentious with the player base. the people paying will want to do it infrequently on the cheap…….
Limit transfers to once a week and make them free. Let players figure out where and who to play with on their own. We don’t need an algorithm we need choices.
Choice allows us to move if we don’t like a matchup or pairing. Choice allows us to play with old or new friends. Choice allows us to move to a server that better represents the type of play style we enjoy be it zerg, havoc, roam etc.
Anet can figure out another way to make gem money off of WvW players.
Transfers are already locked at once a week I thought?
I’d prefer to see them locked to six months, but then I suppose with free accounts folks could get around it. Or add a very steep price to transferring like $25-$50 per xfer.
Let people transfer for free, and sadly, you’d see a lot of gaming .. and not the good kind.
Per the OP: most NA servers WANT more bodies, I don’t think you’ll run into a host server that isn’t thrilled by added pop. EU on the other hand … Lol.

Not sure why you need to change anything, I mean, if you are on SoR, you can still make SoR Teamspeak, and stay with that.
I think all the servers that that join a host, need to grasp that this is WvW, we are warriors, we go out here and kill, pillage and plunder, you all should start Thinking of yourself as Mercenaries as opposed to Children.
So far I’m enjoying the changes that have come to WvW, and am hopeful about the coming changes, but I admit it’s the re-linking of servers that makes me nervous.
I feel like SoR got lucky with DB. The commanders have been great, the fighting has been fun, and I’m finally (as a relatively new player who only experienced the bottom tiers) learning how WvW can be. Tractivators do work … who knew?
A re-linking is going to be jarring for me. I’m building a healthy animosity toward a couple of servers and I’m not thrilled about the idea of suddenly being forced into a link with them. Or worse — a tumble back down into the comatose bowels of WvW where solo camp flipping and PVE’ing keep lords counts as a day of WvW.
I understand Anet is trying to keep populations at a certain level, but being on a small server and frequently bounced around is going to be rough.
I don’t know….I am kind of looking forward to different pairings. Keeps wvw fresh, and allows me to meet more people on different servers. Kaineng has been very lucky in their first pairing with TC, as TC has been very friendly, for the most part. At the same time, I am looking forward to the variety that I might experience with a new pairing.
And even now, I certainly don’t consider Kaineng to be an orphan. I still have good friends on Kaineng and in my guild, and that won’t change with the pairings. Of course, unlike others, ‘server loyalty’ has never been a high priority to me. Guild loyalty is my high priority.
