If you are playing for points then it’s hard to ignore the newly added ruins that provide the Bloodlust buff.

Having all three Bloodlust stacks can make up over a third of your total score, more than controlling an entire Borderland.

However if you’re playing for fun, then you typically avoid the ruins because standing around, waiting…trying to coordinate a cap, then getting it….but having it capped back again a few minutes later etc. etc. isn’t fun.

I can understand the sentiment of giving roamers something to fight for. I also think that kills should matter, even regular kills. But these ruins aren’t adding anything to the game. Taking them isn’t fun, holding them isn’t fun. It’s just a lot of standing and running around.

They’re also just another snowballing mechanic that gives more points to the already dominant server.

Can we please rethink this whole thing again because for all the work that went into it (let’s be honest, WXP aside this has been the only major update to WvW…GW2’s most appealing content…in the past year) it really doesn’t enhance the game.

I like fighting for bloodlust, you get the same amount of points for a stomp if you have one or all three of the buffs. If you don’t like doing it then don’t. Much like I prefer not to zerg so I really don’t.


It was 2 vs 20 but its ok we got’em both!

I love bloodlust. It gives roamers things to do as well as add an interesting mechanism to the game. Once you capture a bloodlust, it only takes like 5 people to maintain it unless the opponent server devotes a significant force to get it back. And if your server across all three maps cannot even field a force to get one bloodlust, you are going to lose pretty bad anyway, so the snowballing thing is moot. But in a relatively even fight (or a server is at small advantage), smart bloodlust management can win you the match even if you are the weaker side.

Even though I am a roamer, I can’t stand fighting for Bloodlust. I don’t enjoy navigating that ruined maze or standing still waiting for the stupid cap to happen and you basically don’t get any rewards (very little) for doing either. I much prefer to solo camps, slap yaks, flip mercs etc.

Be careful what you wish for, Anet might just give it to you “HoT”
