The Tiny Yuno Sniper of Ebay [EBAY]

I still don’t understand what system is inplace, and how it determines which guild gets first claim on a new objective taken. Who gets 2nd claim….third….and why some people get no claims.
Can anyone explain that to me? Like ive had people say if ur closest to the supply cache u get it….if you have the most people in said guild you get it…..if you do the most damage to gates/walls/lord you get it…..or the guild that helped took that has the most people on the entire map or is apart of an existing larger squad that isn’t there….which if any of these is it? i highly doubt its the most damage one. and i assume its the most pop one.
More to the point of the thread though:
-Please make it so the commander and the guild they rep has first claim on an objective that said commander took with their squad. That is just beyond stupid that I can lead a group to take a keep and the guild I rep doesn’t even come up as an option. I did alot of damage to the lord. I didn’t cata though, but they were my cata’s i had prepped myself…..just seems dumb i don’t get first claim. Noone else had hit the keep for at least 30 minutes before I started prepping and then lead a group to take it.
-Please when there isn’t a tag, do NOT let some1 who already has a claim on something to get first claim. Prioritize guilds that took and haven’t claimed anything first. If some1 has a claim on a keep….they likely aren’t gonna take it off to temp claim a camp. its just really annoying and a waste of time sitting around waiting for the right guild to pop up that can place the claim without removing existing ones that you need inplace.
-Please allow guilds that don’t want to claim to cancel/waive their ability to claim first. So once an objective is taken….if guild 1 gets first claim they can simply x that box or something and that makes it skip to guild 2 in the lineup. Presently you have to just wait the full time until the guild you want pops up…..or it goes through alll the guilds and you can finally claim it with the guild that should have popped up.
Please allow these changes or similar changes. Quality of life changes like this are important.
A perhaps more sensible and easy solution, to situations where there isn’t a commander present, is to allow the first dibbers claim period to enact a free full objective aura. So as soon as a camp is taken for example, it automatically has +5 supply and all other aura’s until a guild claims and applies their own or until the first dibbers claim period is over.
I mean the best analogy is the guild that did none of the work getting first claim, claiming, and then boasting that they were the ones that did all the work. Its funny sometimes but that doesn’t make it fair. The enemy neeeds to know who was responsible!!!

Priority
If the guild formed the majority of players capturing this objective then it may be claimed immediately. A popup prompt appears allowing 15 seconds to claim the objective. When the timer expires, the guild with the next highest number of players involved in the capture is prompted to claim and so on. Only those with Claim/Unclaim WvW Forts permission whose guild has unlocked the objective are prompted. Additional options may be selected using the WvW Objective Upgrade UI.

Lolwat? You are just qouting the wiki, not reality.
In reality there can be a 20 peeps on cap with at least 2-3 of the same guild members, yet the guy that dodges into the circle at 95% capped gets first dibs on the claim.
That’s true I capped a tower with a guildie and a solo guy from another guild joined last minute didn’t really even fight the lord coz he was worried a defender would come any minute and his guild popped up first. My guild is level 65 so i doubt its a guild level thing too. I’ve had guild levels barely able to claim a camp pop up before a maxed guild before.
The wiki is correct, however, capture credit is not simply determined by those standing in the capture circle when the objective is captured.
1. The first claim goes to the guild who had to most people get any amount of WXP from killing guards (though patrols do not count for this on Alpine maps) that spawn at the objective or from killing players at the objective before it flips, as well as the number of guild members in the capture circle at time of capture (RNG on ties).
2. At least 1 person who can claim the objective must have gotten any amount of WXP from killing guards or players, or be in the capture circle at time of capture, to be eligible for the guild to be in the claim queue. However, all members of the guild who have gotten WXP from killing guards or players, or were in the capture circle at time of capture, count towards the number to determine order of the claim queue.
3. I am not sure on the time limit for getting credit for capturing an objective, but it is quite a long time (multiple hours at the very least). For example, I have gotten first dibs at an objectives that flipped where I killed at least one guard hours ago and had not returned to. As a second example, I have also seen large guilds who tried and failed at taking an objective over an hour ago, but tagged down or changed maps in the interim, get first dibs on a objective even though exactly zero participated in the final capture (me or my group alone took it (actually see this when capping SMC quite a bit)).
4. All credit for capturing an objective will reset if the objective flips to the third server. That is to say, for example, let’s say you are on green and you would have gotten credit for capturing a blue objective but it flips to red first. If green then takes the objective from red before you do anything that again would give credit for capturing that objective, you will not get credit for the capture.
5. Credit is not reset upon changing maps. And this is where it gets tricky, as I do not know if the number of guild members who would receive credit need be on the map and outnumber all the rest of the guilds to still get priority in the claim queue when the objective flips, or if they still get priority regardless of what map they are on. Obviously, the guild cannot claim the objective if all members are on another map, but I am not 100% certain if they would still be in the claim queue despite not being able to act upon it.
Things that do not count towards getting credit for capturing an objective:
-Damaging walls or gates at the objective
-Getting WXP from destroying any type of siege within range of an objective
-Getting WXP from destroying walls or gates at the objective
-Getting WXP from secondary objectives within range of a primary objective, such as killing a yak within range of a tower—that does not count towards giving credit for capturing the tower
-Getting WXP from killing patrolling guards at objectives on the Alpine maps (I do not even remember if the Alpine patrols give WXP or not)—for some reason, killing patrolling guards do not seem to count towards capturing objectives, or even for contesting the objectives which they are patrolling. Not sure if EBG or DBL patrols are the same though.
Who cares what the wiki says. Maybe it is correct, I don’t care. All i know is the system INGAME isn’t working adequately enough. All my points made in the OP are STILL OUTSTANDING. Arguing whether the wiki correctly explains how the system should be working isn’t what this thread is about.
If you don’t have any problem with ANY of the points in my OP or any of your own problem with claiming, then I guess there is no issue? The wiki says theres no issue. I must be making stuff up!
But apparently some people share my experiences? More people making stuff up I guess….?
I must be popular on the forums and get support from other posters quite a bit of the time …..?
Ya, you fill in the blanks there.
I can add my two cents about the solo person and issues there.
When a guild who takes an objective already owns a claim on the same map, they will be in less priority over the guilds who do not already have a claim in the map. For example: [YAK] has garrison claimed and takes SET, but prior to the cap, a player from [SLAP] gets into the ring, then [SLAP] will have first claim as [YAK] has a claim already.
There are safeguards in place to prevent a guild from unclaiming an objective by accident.

That isn’t even remotely true!
People who haven’t taken the camp/tower/keep, no one in the fight at the property in question are given a choice until all others on the MAP are given first priority.
Has nothing to do with players fighting at the property that is taken or it would work as intended and not give it to those who aren’t even present.
I wonder if the amount of damage to the supervisor makes a difference.I’ve notice when taking camps for instance that I’ve been grated first dibs because I immediately attacked the supervisor while others dealt with other NPCs even when they had more of their guild present.
Was in EBG getting out keep back, luckily we had a mes to port us in. The circle was just about done for capture and the one person comes in (did little to nothing) with the portal, stands in the circle for literally 2 ticks and he got first dibs. He was the only one of his guild there.
I’ve got dibs on structures I didn’t even helped to attack problably because I killed a player around it.
Would srsly be funny if in reality its just randomly choosing a player to make first claim.
I mean such a thing would explain all the responses so far would it not? Higher chance of the guild with the most people there being first since more players reping it. So thats why people would assume the most populous guild taking it gets first dibs. Also takes into account why the lone guy and his one man guild running in at the very end might get the claim. Also takes into account why hitting the lord first, doing the least damage, doing the most damage, being the commander, not being the commander….etc etccccccccc leads to unwanted first dibs.

I’ve had the same thing happen but in camps. I’ll solo it and when I’m on the last npc some random shows up and gets first claim even though I did all the work. They show up and hit the last npc once and get first pickings.
When veteran players cannot understand how a system works in WvW how do Anet expect new players to understand.
I just tell them “It’s the will of the Overmind. You’ll have to accept that and move on.”
