With SoR back in T1 it’s absolutely ridiculous compared to what you faced last week. Took me 10 minutes to flip a camp about 45 minutes ago. 5 minutes for the supervisor buff to wear off, and another five minutes for the supervisor buff to wear off. It counted down to 0 and just stayed there.
I can confirm this. As soon as two large zergs fight each other skill lags start. When all three servers are fighting each other its just plain awful. Sometimes you can press your heal skill for 30 seconds and it might not activate.
I really hope they will find a solution to this. Probably they will have to invest into more powerful servers or find a way to enhance the way they calculate AoE attacks which is for sure not easy.
when we all were in smc last week, i had to use my mainhand sword as i couldnt use my scepter or staff at all. u cant heal u cant attack. its like 100 people just standing there and hoping for 1 skill to work.

Was this lag happening before Anet removed culling?

It doesn’t matter. The lag wasn’t this bad even right after the removed culling, and that was when tons of players came back to WvW because culling was gone. For some reason it has been getting worse week by week even with fewer players in WvW than there was before. Whatever Anet is messing with, they aren’t headed in the right direction.

Go to a lower pop server. Their engine does not handle the amount of population stacking players did at release very well. It likely never will.

Going to a lower population server doesn’t actually help, as the population allowed on any WvW map is limited anyway. Anytime a WvW map is close to its limit, and 2 or 3 zergs collide you will get lag.
I play on Ring of Fire, 21st in the EU rankings and EB is pretty much unplayable during the peak playing times. Major fights around the borderland keeps have the same problem.
I think your hardwaare/connection is guilty, running on FR with greater pop and had no problems outside 3way at SM.

Transfer down, problem solved. No skill lag in my tier.
Skill lag will always stay. Think of the server having to keep up with a multitude of players all in one area, spamming skills, dodging, computing food buffs, trait buffs etc. Server has to compute all this information of a mass of players on screen and send it back to you in real time….lol. Frankly am surprised the engine runs as good as it does.
Skill lag makes WvW unplayable !
Fix it Anet or u will lose more players..!

Anet can resolve it by going with 8 bit Nintendo graphics like WoW. Minimize # of players allowed in WvW by half and adding in queues and dummying down the computations needed in battle, aka no food buffs, trait buffs, runes, etc.

How is that a solution. Everybody hates lags, so everybody goes to a lower tier server and makes that lag too. Hurrah, we’ve come full circle.

Simple. Either the player population spreads out enough that they are not causing intolerable zerg lag; or every server is WvW lagging and complaining thus prompting Anet to either prioritize adding more servers or making alterations to the engine.
