Make it so that you can’t fight the same servers in consecutive weeks. give us more variety.

This will not go well as every off week, you will literally be stomping other opponents or losing badly to other opponents depending on what server you are in.

Example.
T1
A vs B vs C

T2
D vs E vs F

T3
G vs H vs I

Week 2 …
Tier 1
A vs D vs G

Tier 2
B vs E vs H

Tier 3
C vs F vs I

In week 2, A, B, and C would literally crush there opponents so badly the opponents would likely fair weather out or ‘play less’ hibernate so to speak … because the match would be so one sided and not enjoyable.

This happened in the tournament where the brackets were broken into gold silver and bronze playing 6 or so opponents each. Some opponents didn’t win a game for the whole tournament.

People complained, stuff happened… bad ideas were left in the past.

The dev already admitted that server linkings are not made so that populations are comparable to each other. In other words, there will be no such thing as variety, there is only one thing and that is devs decide which tier your server should be.

you would need to balance all the servers in terms of coverage and skill level before we could try something like this.

I took the op to mean that you wouldn’t have the same matches every week, not literally that you would have every server in every match be different. That is entirely possible with just two tiers being balanced with each other.

And lo and behold what do we have in NA T3&T4. Anet may have just achieved such balance. Or pretty close.
