Hi, Aspies! Hi, DBs! It’s been, what, a whole three weeks since we were matched up? Man, I missed you guys. Let’s have a lot of fun!

Played for three hours since the start of the match in Maguuma BL. Both Maguuma and DB put up a good fight, but FA is already taking a big lead. Still a lot of fun, but unless Maguuma recruited a lot of EU/Oceanic guilds since the three weeks we played against them, it looks like the outcome of this match is obvious.

FA is in the awkward situation where we have a very strong NA presence with nothing for the EU/Oceanic time zones. Either we win by a wide margin or lose by a wide margin.

Unfortunately, we on FA already have all 3 orbs, wish it was a bit more equal for sure, no fun being on either side of a landslide, imo.

Hoping for some awesome fights this week!

The funny thing was in the first couple of hours of the match we took two orbs but lost our own. Maguuma made a lightning attack on Titanpaw and ran the orb all the way to Dreadfall Bay, fighting us the entire way down. I have to say it was a job well done by Maguuma.

It then took FA several attempts to get it back…with the first couple of tries going really badly because Maguuma set up a really nasty surprise for us behind the DB walls. All those ballistas you guys had really tore our first two charges to pieces. That defence behind the wall we were trebbing was so good we had to go and attack the northern gate instead.

Last match we had no orbs and it was really tough fighting against TC who had all three. This match it’s the opposite. The orb buff really should be swapped with the outmanned buff because it’s a bit ridiculous when the winning team (which almost always has more players) also get so many extra stat bonuses from orbs.

I hope Maguuma gets all three orbs soon so I can make a video of owning up-leveled players on my thief.

Great battles last night, everyone. I was surprised by FA’s overwhelming presence, considering that our scores in the last match (where we were both stomped by TC) weren’t that far apart.

Unfortunately Dragonbrand still needs to drop another tier or two to get where we need to be after losing so many guilds to free server transfers.. even during primetime our Queue’s are practically non-existant at this point (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing).

For now we just need to work on keeping morale up and try to enjoy WvW despite the consistent blowouts. Get out there and do some damage!

Let’s all try to ignore the score this week. I’m on FA and personally that “score” doesn’t mean we are winning. Just means we have more coverage on all maps at more times of day. The individual battles have been fun. I wish the orb buff was gone until ANET gets a clue on that concept.

I’d say we should all just try to allow each server to hold 1 orb… but that would NEVER happen, so apologies for FA seeming to have more orbs so far.

That 3-way at West Keep on FA borderlands was beautiful. Maguuma portalbomb-trained FA off the top gates while trebbing DB off the bottom door while we had the outmanned buff. Don’t ever touch Maguuma’s Alamo…

Who is this person and why are they pming me?

FA has a really big and really good NA primetime presence. We usually do exceedingly well Friday night.

Then we stumble and fail against servers with any kind of off hours presence.

All of WvW seems specifically catered to provide boring, uninteresting blowouts to one side or the other. The orb bonuses do not help. It’s boring being the winner in a blowout, even more so than being the loser.

Guess you gotta just keep going out there and killing mans and having fun where you can, but the idea that these matchups are creating a tense exciting match where any server could win is just laughable. In about 95% of cases the winning server is immediately obvious after the first evening. And that’s when lots of people from the other two servers stop showing up.

Also so many bugs in WvW – our orb was invisible almost the entire time Maguuma picked it up, which made it just a bit harder to track down and intercept :p We managed once or twice though!

And who else thought taking the servers down 1 hour into the new match was stupendously poor timing?

You think winning has anything to do with points? Maguuma can’t lose our keeps when we have the outmanned buff, that’s winning.

Well after spending the last 6 hours in Maguuma BL fighting to hold on to AB and keeping Maguuma all over the map, imma take a break. Props to FA and Maguuma in there, you guys weren’t lettin up and we weren’t making it easy so nicely done.

Mag: 18.309 +255 2 orbs
DB: 17,055 +70

DB – Now you see the almighty power of our fairweather server. Ghost town one week, zergfest the next. I’m not gonna pretend that “we all keep fighting forever” like TC does. Sure we have a whole bunch of people who keep on goin’ when the scores are bad – just not even close to our “winning” zergfest.

It’s been fun fighting Maguuma, and even the occasional Dragonbrand so far. If Dragonbrand just had the numbers, they’d be doing quite well I think. Plus Maguuma has two orbs now.

I know some people in my guild was playing on Maguuma last week and they enjoyed playing with you guys there too.

I actually wish the score wasn’t a blowout because that just means we have to move up a tier into completely lopsided matches again.

Well, one thing I can say is, we will keep fighting I we did all last week. We will this week as well. We have fun winning or losing so to us. It’s just all one big competition. Just sometimes the strategies and objectives change. Gotta work with what we got not try to be what we’re not.

There was a lot of good back-and-forth this afternoon outside of Greenbriar in DB BL (I’m on FA). Here’s to hoping the fights stay good. Winning and losing means little in the face of a “beautiful game”.

Glad everyone’s enjoying themselves this matchup. Let’s try to keep this as sporting as possible.

Last matchup maguuma had started out sporting with the two servers we were playing, but then there was some regrettable drama flying about regarding accusations of exploiting/hacking and so on. This resulted in several thread closures, deleted posts, etc.

Let’s try to keep that kind of stuff out of this thread and focus on the sporting battles we’re having. If someone is exploiting or hacking or doing something wrong ingame, that’s for Anet to handle via reports that you would make – dragging it here does nothing but breed bad blood between everyone. The overwhelming majority of maguuma players don’t want exploiters/hackers in the game any more than anyone else.

Also, while this game is structured in how the point tallies work to ‘reward’ servers that just have warm bodies in wvw when the other servers don’t and don’t care much about strategy – the three of us servers have been lucky enough to be matched up against fellow servers this week who actually have good tactics and strategy. If it were my choice, I’d like to freeze our current matchup and just reset the point tally weekly, honestly.

So that said, there’s no reason for any of us to harbor any hostility towards one another – beyond good-natured trash-talk and chest-thumping. Let’s all keep this civil and have fun while this matchup lasts.

We made it to keep lord in FA garrison with 5 golems, but X’s went up, and we didn’t have enough on our side to actually kill the keep lord while our main zerg distracted. We shuffled too fast and it bombed. Still, it was fun. Golems were from puzzle. (Our mesmers were failing, too.)

You guys then tried to repeat this on our BL garrison and didn’t even get the first gate down. lol

True dedication/loyalty right there – a leap of faith off a cliff, death before dishonor! Or maybe just being silly. Either way, I expect no less from goons.

Maguumians don’t listen to our mother, when someone tells us to jump off a bridge we do it.

Maguumans need to stop fighting DB and get caught up to FA in points before they start wasting their resources on the 3rd place server. Stop fighting for silver and go for the gold lol. We dont have enough points to move you above FA and I know for a fact we as server are doing our best to focus FA. So if you’re cool with 2nd or 3rd please feel free to keep attacking us, but if you wanna try and win something for the first time in a month or two, let’s hit #1 yeah? cool.

Considering you guys were at +65 for most of the afternoon, I don’t think anyone was fighting DB :\ Alliances are too fickle, I don’t think we have the coordination to maintain it, even if we really really wanted to. The last time I even remember hearing anything about DB was you guys taking our supply camps.

You’re focusing on a window of about 6 hours during the day. but the other 75% of the day I’d say Mag and DB are either close, or DB is ahead. This morning for instance we were crushing mag and a had a sizable advantage per tick on FA. We didnt start to fall off until about 2-3pm PST which is when we know we’re the weakest.

But, when you see DB starting to make a stand or get a foothold in a BL and it’s on the DB side of the map, coming to wipe that out. Doesn’t help you. We’re on a mission to knock out #1. It’s clear you’re not gonna beat FA alone, so if you see DB starting to take stuff outside their spawn point you should be happy knowing its one more distraction for the FA guys on that map. Now im not saying dont fight DB. Im just saying fight when you should, not when it’s just crippling you as well.

For instance: Maguuma BL, and you own the BL… yes target both DB and FA.

FA BL and you see DB pushing their half of the map… maybe push yours and meet in the middle then battle it out? The enemy of my enemy is my ally? At least until we have nothing to fight over then become enemies? lol

Remember: You can’t win in the points if after you’re done taking everything, you’re still getting less points per tick than the leading server. So don’t knock out the ones that are helping you subtract from that point per tick total… Even if they’re helping you for their own gains. Yes, we are your enemies, no im not saying dont fight us, im saying fight when its strategically smart for you to do so.

When in a BL that I want to control, I hope the other server is pushing. It’s harder for that BL to defend themselves. If Im defending DB BL. i LOVE when the two assaulting servers are fighting each other. Easiest thing to beat.

I am well aware of how an ideal alliance would work. I am saying it probably won’t work. Most of Maguuma doesn’t even really care if we win or not, we’re just here to have fun. The ones that care stop playing after the first day.

The only thing that matters it the amount of badges you walk away with.

Badges? We don’t need no stinkin’ badges! But seriously, just have fun. Who cares about winning.

Yes, it does help us. It just doesn’t help you. You make an assumption that our goals are similar.

I was up til 4:30 am CST. I saw you log in when I was ready to hit the sack. I stayed up and decided to go the extra mile when I realized we had some people that wanted to make a difference. My guild has been pushing me to leave this server, now I have something to show them as an incentive not to.

@Maniac. RE: Fairweather players. Every server has them without exception. Look at TC this week; they are getting crushed and during the weekend have the outnumbered buff, and their multiple queues are gone. Their numbers have dropped dramitically versus fighting us a week ago. They have vocal forum posters/guilds who “never give up”….but that does not describe their server overall…or any server for that matter it would seem.

Great fights to the FA players in the EB jumping puzzle just recently.

Whichever Fort Aspenwood commander is on in Maguuma Borderlands right now, well played. Feel like I got outsmarted trying to move on West Keep. Good counter zerg execution (hit North West Tower and East Keep at the same time as destroying our Garrison trebs with ballistas). Wouldn’t mind talking about Mag/FA strategy with that guy.

I believe that is Ibluddgeon or something like that. Yes, he is good. We need more like him on 24/7

I’m proud that I lead multiple teams to hold garrison and the majority of Mag BL for 36+ hours but getting serious burnout. Alot of our North American commanders are temporarily out of action due to real life commitments and the clash with the halloween event has made it tough to organize resistance in WvW. So theres only a few of us European guys trying to hold down borderlands at 1:30am with work tommorow. The weekend has been pretty rough for us.

Gonna go to bed and see how I feel tommorow. Would love to talk tactics with Ibluddgeon sometime.
