My name is Riku Shinobu and I am hear to ask for your help in Fort Aspenwood.

*Fort Aspenwood is in desperate need of players to defend our lands in WvW during our night hours. If you’re a European or Oceanic guild that is looking for better queue times and a world with a day time force that will defend while you are asleep then Fort Aspenwood is the homeworld for you. *

I am the leader of the guild Upper Echelon [Echo]. We are a smaller WvW guild, 152 members total with 70 of which who are devoted to WvW. We work very closely with the Fort Aspenwood Alliance, which is a collection of guilds that are also devoted to WvW.

To make things concise, I will list the benefits of moving to the Fort Aspenwood homeworld.

-There are no queue times during our night hours.

-Our daytime force is very experienced in WvW, but we lack the numbers at night to hold keeps and towers.

-The commanders in our world work hand in hand with other commanders on the map to succeed. There is very little in-fighting between commanders.

-We follow the belief that zerging from tower to tower isn’t that great of a thing. When we take towers, we leave forces between 5-10 to defend it and upgrade it. With no night players though, empty towers and keeps are easy to take.

-Communication between guilds in WvW is a priority. Information from each WvW map is constantly shared.

Fort Aspenwood has many players dedicated to winning in WvW, and we need your help to take us to the top!

I agree with guildwars2guru that “we are lacking coverage in time zones between GMT 0:00 and GMT +12:00.” If you are asking yourselves what is the trade-off for coming to our server? The answer would be our queue times! Just like Riku mentioned, absolutely INSTANT entry to WvW during our night hours, and less than an hour at our most busiest!

Therefore it is un-bear-able for anyone not to support this! I’m totally for it!

I have to support this FA’s Major weakness is a complete lack of Presence after NA goes to sleep. We can Hold our own During the day but at night we go down and struggle to recover unless we Dominate the other servers NA team.

So Eu and Oceanic Join us Fight with us. I don’t know if other Guilds feel like i do but you guys are welcome to my guild and access to WvW Bonuses until you get yours Fully Rebuilt anything we can do to help ease the transition.

I can also vouch for this. FA is very strong during the US primetime, frequently ending up ahead of the others in our bracket during those times, but we severely lack night time coverage. So if you are an EU or Oceanic based player and want instant access to WvW with a strong NA team, join us on FA.

Praetorian Order [PRO] supports/signs this. We’ll do what we can do make a transition easier and you feel welcome.

I am too from Fort Aspenwood and I want to ask Oceanic/EU people not to come. We are a strong server with a number of dedicated guilds, but we are small and often get overrun by zerg. I want to keep it this way. Please stay out, I don’t want FA to turn into another zerger server with tons of refugee transfers clogging our queues.

NA players benefit from EU/Oceanic players because we won’t have huge score deficit and won’t start off our playing hours up against a map that entirely belongs to another server. We will be able to remain competitive without turning into a zerg server. The EU/Oceanic players will benefit from Fort Aspenwood since the times they play the game will have no queues and from their perspective the NA players will have a presence on the server while they sleep so their efforts don’t go to waste which seems to happen on some EU servers. This is entirely win/win unless you want us to lose.

The Spirit of Faith (HOPE) would be happy to further this purpose also. We are one of the larger guilds on FA, and trying to keep a good wvw presence up too.

I think this is a great idea. In order to compete we need people that can play during NA off hours. Currently it’s the reason why we’ve been losing and it really hurts server morale. Would love to have more EU and Oceanic players on FA!

I am an Oceanic player. I recently transfeered to Tarnished Coast when I saw their “we need oceanic players” thread. When I transfeered I saw they controlled the whole map, and I kind of felt like “What the puppy?”. But overall it is a nice place to be at night, and the PVE situation is nice there.

So my question is do you have any base group of oceanic time zone players to join up with, or are you trying to start from zero? If you have a good base already and just need help, I’d rather fight against the zerg than with it. If you basically have no organized groups at night I cant help you since me running around by myself gets old super fast.

Might help if you clarify the situation.

Tarnished Coast needs the oceanics for weeks like next one, not the one we are in. We came from two weeks straight of getting our night time faces pushed in. Not trying to recruit on the FA thread, just responding to our server being mentioned

Fair enough. I will probably wait around for a week as i want to check things out for a bit to find a place I can be useful. The problem with being on in Oceanic times is there seems to only be a few places with any players. So it’s often zerg or barren wasteland. Doesnt seem to be any small, but roughly even, fights happening at night.

Even 2v1 numbers would be just fine, but on the smaller servers, you are lucky to get five people running around, until you catch the large server’s notice and 60 people come over to smash you.

I take it that isn’t the case during the NA primetime hours, am I wrong? Or are all games still silly mismatched most of the time?

Mmm, often a couple days before reset, things look very mismatched. Not every server has the fortitude to keep fighting despite the scoreboard. I know when I pulled some overnighters to fight against SoS, we were generally outmanned 10 to 1, but was coordinated enough to slow them down so that the NA primetime could carry the win.

Crystal Desert had about a 5 to 1 at TC’s night time, but that’s due to us recruiting more oceanics and they having a bit less to start than SoS. Pretty soon we’ll have an oceanic presence to compete with some of the big dogs, maybe 100v150ish on a map.

Slow but steady process.

FA doing threads like this will help them. Servers need to continue to take a proactive approach instead of simply crying that things are unfair. Let them know we welcome Aussies and appreciate their efforts on our NA servers, instead of taking advantage of the valiant off-prime time defenders and not giving them credit where it’s due.

Our night numbers right now are pretty low, I don’t think we actually have an Oceanic or European guilds to have a base to build upon.

Oh! HELP us Eu/Oceanic guilds! We are defenceless at night!

FA is Green. These screenies are after their night of being defenceless. The map has not substantially changed since before midnight… and it’s still almmost all Green now.

FA doesn’t need your help, Dragonbrand and Maguuma do.

Maguuma and Dragonbrand are not nearly as strong as Fort Aspenwood is during NA primetime. Having night coverage alone won’t help your servers in higher tiers if you’ll still get beaten during the day. FA has more to benefit from EU/Oceanic guilds specifically while the two of you need more people playing WvW in general.

FA isn’t asking to be the next Blackgate so we can be in Tier 1. We just want to have competitive matches. We clearly don’t belong in Tier 5 as this match has shown, but we got slaughtered when we were in Tier 3. We’re hoping with EU/Oceanic players we can be competitive in Tiers 3 and 4 instead of getting knocked down to Tier 5 where we have no competition.

I’m on FA and I play from europe, and the 3 points you make are just not true.

FA had Maguuma completely outzerged throughout the night and Oceanic primetime. Uhh, what coverage gap? Please don’t have any more people transfer to your server this matchup.

This is why Fort Aspenwood needs a night crew. Even against Maguuma and Dragonbrand we lose everything at night.

We’ll have no chance in higher tiers if we can’t even hold our land from Maguuma and Dragonbrand.

We (FA) have been receiving the outmanned buff in our own borderlands on and off for a few hours. We have the lowest PPT, and no territory worth mentioning other than in EB right now. Don’t listen to the trolls, we need players that don’t play during NA prime time.

You are behind DB right now because your entire zerg threw themselves at Maguuma’s west keep in FA, and we kept wiping you even though you were more than 2:1. It has nothing to do with numbers, actually. It has to do with knowing which battles to pick and how to cover the map.

We did good last night in WvW until about 11pm server time. At that point the outmanned buff turned on and dragonbrands night crew came and capped almost everything we had dragonbrand borderlands.

I defended greenvale with 5 guys against a zerg of about 30-40. It was a good death.

We are looking at heading into tier 3 again. There will be 9 competitive servers for the foreseeable future – and we need off-peak reinforcements badly to keep our upgrades as best as we can.
My random predictions for next fortnight or so:
T1 : BG/SoS/JQ
T2 : SoR/IoJ/SBI
T3: TC/FA/CD

With TC constantly in our crosshairs, we will continue to bounce between T3 and T4 until we can maintain a decent off-peak force. We generally experience a queue on the opening reset weekend of up to an hour during peak NA time, but instant entry during off-peak time. This however, does not indicate we are a “ghost town” during off-peak, I’m aussie myself, we generally run guerrilla tactics at these times in all maps OR concentrate on holding one map united together as we just need more manpower to field a larger scale opposition.

Some selling points: Our server is a very balanced mix of PVE/PvP, chat is actively LFG and doing halloween activities. People are generally well-mannered and mature with the occasional rotten egg. Our dedicated WvW guilds are resolute in the face of adversity (even against “Beastgate”) and we keep fighting and taking objectives successfully while outmanned or experiencing a disappointing overnight PPT drop. /team chat is used widely across all maps with many of the guilds offering TS / raidcall services.

We have a NA force to be reckoned with and have shown the ability to come out on top in PPT with SM and 2-3 orbs consistently during the 8 hours after matchups reset. Plenty of tactics to bring to the table (and some strong opponents / very skilled small scale guild transfers teaching us some new ones) with a non-elitist attitude. I encourage WvW focused Asian/Aussie/Kiwi/Euro individuals and small to medium sized guilds to consider our server as your new home for the long term.

^You make an awesome point. This is an exciting time for FA. Next week, the six best servers will all be in the top two tiers. The big question will be who the next three best servers are. TC has shown they deserve to be in T3 as well as CD who are winning their T4 match. Once HoD drops down again after next week, another server will have to take its place in T3. The only two servers who have any claim to that are FA and Yaks. We haven’t played them yet (at least not in the one week format), but I think we might be the better server.

To be competitive in T3, we need to have the EU/Oceanic presence the other servers have. It is simply not the case that we are asking people to come to FA so they can fight PvDoor. We are outnumbered during those hours. You will definitely have someone to fight. As some others have mentioned, there are already people around to help you for PvE stuff. They just don’t make up the numbers necessary for taking on other T3 servers in WvW.

If you’re on Maguuma or Dragonbrand, don’t take this matchup as an example of FA being strong overnight. We’re only winning by so much because DB and Mag aren’t that strong overnight either.

FA almost always wins the first night, showing that we’re strong in NA primetime – we’ve won the first night of all our matchups except when we were in T3 vs. the new improved Blackgate (which is currently winning T1, so no shame losing to them).

But then the next morning we see what’s really going to happen as we log in to see a huge point deficit. It was like this vs. TC just last week, and basically every week before that going all the way back to the 1-day matchups. Make no mistake FA is a very lopsided server timezonewise.

If you’re on an EU server the queue time argument is my favorite. I don’t want our overnight coverage to come at the expense of other servers but if people from crowded EU servers come here then we can have our cake and they can eat it too.

FA is almost a textbook “potential” server – we punch above our weight tierwise in NA primetime, we just need some presence during our (NA) off hours.

Also our coordination between guilds was lagging behind a bit for while, but it’s coming together now.

Help us show the WvW world that their authority is not recognized inside Fort kitten.

So, TIL that we need people in the Euro timezone more than any other. We have light coverage for Central Asia/SEA/Oceanic – but it’s midnight in Singapore, 3am here in most of Australia.. but about 5-6pm in Europe right now – and we are getting destroyed (+15 PPT) by a very large Dragonbrand force (rumor has it they have a sizeable German force, I don’t know whether that is valid or not)

as a Yaker i approve this message, its going to be a fun friday since we haven’t played you guys yet. we are actively trying to recruit some EU/OC players as well, i hope we can all have some awesomely close peak hours fighting and we can gage who got the more EU/OC presence by weeks end.

Nothing yesterday or today in regards to recruitment. I hope we can get some more before the reset.

As a Commander who was involved with HoD during the early release of the game and a former WvW Commander in the Titan Alliance, I can say the level of organization within this server is refreshing.

Simply put there is just flawless cohesion with the groups; with little contact, all the while keeping each other informed, we make moves simultaneously.

We have a few people who sit in a set channel in our (Unlimited [ULTD]) TeamSpeak and coordinate positions and maps, some other Commanders find out via Whispers where which groups are headed, spread out our forces, or combine them if a map needs help. It’s just a true pleasure to fight along side other motivated and organized groups.

If you’re EU or Oceanic and you’re looking to advance in WvW, we’re the night crew you’re looking for.

We are currently scouting out a number of servers to move our 100strong guild to. We are a WvW focused guild who consider our specialism to be in small unit “smash and grab” style play and are firmly ANTI-ZERG.

We’d like very much to get a good feel for the server and an idea as to how the workings of your inter-guild alliances etc are set up. Feel free to drop me a message with any information you feel would be of use. I have been in touch with members from Talons [BT] and found them to be a Stirling example of a guild and would welcome input from other guild leaders/officers in the server.

BT is good, I just spent a few hours earlier tonight taking Bay and then nearly taking hills (longest and most intense siege I’ve ever been in) and they used golems well and were good at quickly switching up which gates they hit.

We need more WvW-oriented people to move onto Fort Aspenwood for the oceanic prime time.

Even if it’s a only a couple hundred more players, we need more so we can at least maintain some of our holdings against other servers who do have those oceanic players in strong numbers.

It would be great to be strong all times of day so that upgrading assets actually means something.

For people who are doubting these guys, they’re fighting my server (Yak’s Bend) this week. Off-hours we claim a majority of the orb…scoring thing. During Prime Time though FA comes out swinging and puts up one heck of a fight.

Well this match-up is showing again that we need more night players. Those of us in NA can take all the towers, but we can’t hold them against Yak’s night time players.

Fort Kitten? LOL. You know what you’re called on Dragonbrand? Fort Aspie. I don’t even think it was intentional, but google the word “aspie” if you don’t already know what it means.

Just a quick update, we had a 70 man Japanese guild join Fort Aspenwood.

I’ve been in touch with a number of guild leaders on server now and will be putting forward a case for moving to here to the rest of my guild. It’s a good cause and to see other players from opposing servers praising and enjoying the level of WvW commitment is very encouraging.

I’m really interested in hearing from other Oceanic/EU guilds who have or would consider making the move. It’d be nice to have some sort of co-ordinated alliance of guilds who can make a real night time stand before the yank cavalry arrive each day.

If you lead/have some say in a guild who is considering the move (or has already) please feel free to get in touch so we might discuss an alliance. This goes for other guild leaders in prime time as the more co-ordinated we can make our efforts the more they count =D

It would be nice to get a Oceanic/EU guilds. Friday night is the best on FA, we usually have some amazing fights, and more often than not we pull ahead. It has been a little discouraging to be winning and doing well during our prime time to fall far behind during the night. If we could just keep the other servers from taking everything at night then we’d be perfect. I dont mind losing some stuff at night, but sometimes I’m reluctant to upgrade stuff because it will be flipped at some point at night just because we have so few people.

Either way, I really like FA. Its a good server and I feel we have some really dedicated and good people there.

Well that is good news Inuko, let us know how your gathering of other EU/Oceanic guilds turns out.
