Jedbacca is the latest commander perma banned for taking gold from HIS guild bank, and giving the gold to a guild member. thats 9 this week to fall victim to a faulty program. SOS lost a few of their commanders, now SBI.

He is also a new mini pet available from the gem store for 1million 221 gems.

I’ll support it even though SBI’s someone we fight weekly in WvW I don’t like fighting people when they aren’t at full strength and Jed is one of the best i’ve seen on SBI.

What kind of bug is this, that auto bans someone for using their bank as intended? Incredible…

I assume it’s a mechanic to stop gold farmers who use multiple accounts and a guild bank to facilitate their transfers.

Any anti-farming mechanic that wrongly affects paying customers who do not violate the ToS should be scrapped. It’s about stopping most of the bad guys, not stopping all of them and some of the good citizens.

Yes please unban his account. He is the gm of Strike Force and a community leader on SBI. Was probably flagged for giving gold for our newest commander tag, which was taken from our guild bank, which everyone in the guild donates too…which is what guild banks are for….

Also I think making a new mini named Jedbacca is a really good idea. Mini charr with a lightsaber!

IMHO, there are a few people who are (what I refer to as) community “linchpins” — people who are central, pivotal, key figures. Jedbacca is one of those figures. While I presented a dab of humor in my previous post, I wish to embellish, revise, and extend my remarks with a somber, sincere appeal for ANET to give serious consideration to reviewing this case.

Jedbacca is one of those rare individuals that transcend guild and server boundaries and has a significant, if not profound and uplifting, effect on the community. I believe the brand integrity would be better served by a thoughtful and face saving graceful sidestep from what might otherwise be a painful impact to the community.

Actually it’s probably easier to ban first and ask questions later. Only people who are legit will question it.

At least, I’m sure that’s anets theory. In reality we know a lot of kitten they put in this game since launch has been completely untested.

The problem there is, they automatically perma ban your account and they don’t respond to emails, so the only hope to settle the matter, as my friend who was in the wrong place at the wrong time in open pve has to hope for, is calling customer service. You can teleport with 3rd party programs like entire guilds are server hopping to do and you can buy and sell gold, but you can’t send your friends a little funds or hook up with random people in open world and start shooting at what they’re shooting.

Okay, enough crying, let’s get in gear and get back out there. Thank you all for the added support. I knew my petition was legit and it had happened to Coronbale, a community leader of Tsym. He’s a legit commander as well and knowing that he was restored gave me hope that I’d get handled pretty quick.

You all are awesome, I’ll go back to my regularly scheduled program. Oh, and shhhh don’t let my guildies know I’m on yet, they are gonna start screaming like little schoolgirls with me back

Well it sucks that they won’t respond to emails of those banned by accident in cases like this. But anet probably think it’s margin of error is small enough that the few legitimate people they ban won’t make that much of a difference and are worth the cost of all the bots they’ll ban.

But as I was saying… in reality what they intend and how things actually work out have been completely different in the last 4 months with little to no testing of updates and things like that that have been added to the game stealthily. If 9 different legit players have been banned because of that in the last week or so that’s really pretty bad.

The point is selling gems for money is probably the main income source for ANet right now. Every gold seller that succeeds in a transaction costs them money. They are extremely aggressive because of that.

So they tolerate the false positives (if 9 guild leaders got hit – imagine how many others) in order to make money. Business model.

BTw- here is the Jedbacca mini I got
