Guild Wars 2

Right now WvW is a mess of guilds and players transferring to other servers to either get good competitive matchups or easy wins. Usually the latter. So the top servers are transferring down and then leaving empty borderlands for the next matchup. I’m on Blackgate right now and our matchup is horrendous. 10 minutes into the reset we owned all of our borderlands and were in control of 75% of everything else. 30 minutes later we had taken everything. I’ll enclose a picture of what our score looks like today, 10/20.

The fact of the matter is that we are fighting empty servers. Why? Because they either all transferred to our server or transferred elsewhere. How are they able to do that? Because there is no penalty to transferring and it is completely free. There is also no reward for staying on your server other than friends and guilds you are apart of. I’m not saying there should be a reward, simple solution, make server transfers cost money, and make it once a month. If that doesn’t suit the tastes of some players, then make it once a week. This way the ratings of WvW actually show true rank, instead of how many players transferred to us or out this week compared to last.

Its a simple fix and to keep everyone happy, give all the players a week notice to pick which server they want to stay on before the change is put into place.

I think we’ve all said this 10,000 times now but it seems it falls on deaf ears.

The server hopping is beyond destructive now. It was killing the game 2 weeks ago but now it’s all out suicide.

Before you complain about not being heard, maybe you should listen.

Just wanted to quickly add we’ve got people working on fixing issues with free server transfers as well, its proven far more complicated than we originally intended/expected to get done but is absolutely being built and is coming as soon as we can possibly get it in and bug-free.

We’ll also be working on a number of other WvW features we’ll talk more about in the coming months once they’re closer to being implemented!

It’s my responsibility to make the user base aware? Last I checked I don’t get pay checks from Anet.

Where does it say he’s limiting free server transfers again? I don’t see that part. All I see is someone fixing the current free transfers what every that means.

Players helping players

Theres a difference between helping, and then trolling to an extent. One post would have sufficed, and even then a more “helpful” tone would have been better. Irritating a player is not helping another player. Simply voicing my opinion, and hoping it is looked at and agreed upon. And following the intention of hoping Anet sees it, well then oh well if they know about this, its another push from another customer in the same direction. Its not an obtrusive post, nor is it a negative post. I made sure this post was constructive via my opinion base.

Yep, nothing has officially been said about limiting free transfers. One of the issues regarding free transfers is that if you have transferred you’re probably not receiving the world bonuses from your new home.

My second two posts were addressing Godmoney, who seems impossible to satisfy. I’m certain he had something different written when I made my last one, so don’t take that too harshly.

There’s a pile of threads in this forum that express your opinion. There’s one on the current page that nearly has the same name as your thread, which I linked to. While you may have a constructive intent, you are not contributing to the discussion by simply repeating what others have said and splintering the discussion even more.

If all you want to do is affirm what as already been said, is it so hard to find a post to which you can say, “I agree”? By writing another paragraph with the same complaints as others you are just making it difficult for good ideas to gain notice and easy for important points to be overlooked. I’m a fan of brevity and perhaps that’s why I’m coming off as rude.

Faul: That sounds like a transfer problem to me, not a free transfer problem. Maybe it’s a matter of perspective, but you can’t say for sure that the call for limiting free transfers is being ignored. We do know that free transfers were always meant to be temporary, so that’s how I’m interpreting it.
