Hi Anet. WvW player here. WvW is a game mode you may or may not be aware of its existence but nevermind.
Good to see CDI threads about scoring and population imbalance fixes but we had a CDI 1.5 years ago and nothing has come out of it.
Not sure if you even realize the the bad state of WvW in Bronze in Silver because you sent all your devs in Gold and top SIlver.
So while you are working on fixes(supposedly) why don’t you enable free transfers from Gold to #14-27 maybe? I know nothing will change but at least the community will see you are trying to do something. And lock the transfers to gold or double/triple the price . Stop encouraging people to stack…
There’s no reason what-so-ever to not give us free transfers(aside from gem, but with dead game there wont be any income at all). Wildstar already did it, WoW did it.
The clock is ticking, nobody is going to wait for you forever to fix your game.
Also fix already how transfer price is defined. You already have WvW rankings, use them. It’s one hour work.

They did this prior to S2. It wreaked havoc on population balance for the lower/mid tiers. Really, really bad idea, and I hope they don’t make this mistake again. It wasn’t a surprise when they didn’t do a repeat for S3.

Unlikely someone is going to leave their nicely stacked server. Low-populated servers can only win.
And even if causes havoc so what? Afraid that your server won’t be able to roflstomp every enemy again? A nice shift in the top is welcome. It will add new variety of match-ups.

I am at Eredon Terrace (almost 2 years at bottom) and I also do not aprove this idea. Where is your god now?

Lowering the prices based on server placement would be good, but giving free transfer to other servers would just promote people to stack on the said server for a easy win like happened to Henge of Denravi on Season 2. (Why would i go to 24th if i can go to 13th for free aswell?)

ET has been winning for the past few weeks, maybe you just got lucky and got transfers or maybe the enemy was less. I play on EU.
It doesn’t have to be free transfer to every server in Bronze/Silver. Anet can do it with waves and control the migration.
Example:
Get the top 3 servers, and select few guilds(there must be a way to tell they are wvw players) where you send every their member a ticket that gives free transfer to bottom 3 servers(#25-27 EU). If you transfer then you get some kind of reward.
Repeat it next week with #4-6 to #22-24.
Just a rough idea, it needs smoothing because there are many national servers.

And like I said even if guilds decide to all stack on new X server who cares. WvW is so damaged it doesn’t matter anymore. People will get new matchups.

Also mind that it’s not even a fix, it’s more of a temporary solution while they working on better one(for which I doubt they do… >.> )

This would only occur if the suggested “free transfer” was always open.

Anet could do something like this between seasons, and remove the free or discounted transfers a few weeks before a season.

I am neither for nor against it, just pointing the above out.

There’s not enough people left to transfer to lower tiers and make a difference. Or stack on one.

They just need to close the bottom 15 servers in NA. Nine servers is all we need really. And just pick a new server when you log in.

That would be completely chaotic. People returning to the game that hadn’t communicated with friends/guild would be forced, at log on, to randomly choose a server and hope some of their friends will be there for WvW?

I do agree the population has spread thin, but I don’t have a suggestion to rectify it and the one you provide is very poor.

I for one would love to take advantage of a free transfer from gold to where ever. I originally came to TC (anyone who is in t1 knows that TC isnt really #1 atm) for bigger fights. It was fun for a while, but blob after blob wears down the soul.

I would even transfer to a t6-8 server right now, I really hate being in t1.

It is too late. Gold league is getting empty as well, besides 1-2 over stacked servers.

The WvWvW meta needs to be changed, refreshed as it has been the same since Autumn 2012. WvWvW needs better rewards. At least here in EU tier 1 (gold league), we are far from full. Generally outnumbered buff on prime time, not to mention outside prime, when even less players. Spreading the players around more servers means that there would be roughly 1-2 guys on each map.

It’s not about merging servers or closing some then force people to pickup new. Those are extreme fixes.
All I want is Anet to encourage people to move around and don’t stack on top servers while working on a proper solution…don’t have high hopes for it though. Even if they are really going to do something it’s going to take ages knowing how fast they are. By that time there won’t be many of us left around.
Another thing is some guilds go in gold so they get more GvG. If we had gvg system which doesn’t rely on current matchups rather than EotM karma train map it would have been a little better.

On a serious note: I don’t think free transfers will cause the population to spread out. There’s no real incentive to do so. Something needs to change with WvW first so that there is incentive.

Free transfers didnt work, and when tournaments are on, everyone bandwagons on one server to get the better reward. It’s a joke.

Control, control, you must learn control!

Control the transfers so that eventually all servers are almost equally active 24/7, not he current mess where the 3rd rank server can obliterate the 4th rank and 5th rank servers at the same time due to more coverage than both put together.

Enable free transfers so that every guild can face each other in a GvG? I’m up for it!

I actually said it’s probably not going to help because people won’t just give up their blob kingdom. However, it’s worth trying. At this point it doesn’t matter, you only can get those top servers kittenhurt. And again as I said this is meant only as temp. fix.
Of course we all know nothing will be improved. Or it will in a year when there’s nobody to play.

Ok, here’s a plan. Start with everyone at 1800 Gem to transfer
If a server wins more than 3 times consecutively, they should have their cost increase by 100 Gems a week after that for every consecutive win.
If a server gets 3rd more than 3 times consecutively, their prices should decrease by 100 gems a week for every consecutive loss.

Since this would fix higher tier imbalances faster, close T8 NA and T9 EU and give those players free transfers.

The number one disruptive force in WvW is when you get a powerful server at the top of the tier that is too strong for the others to beat, but not powerful enough to move up a tier and remain there.

Additionally, this will give great assistance to servers experiencing implosions (to allow quicker stabilization and rebuild) and discourage stacking already dominant servers.
