The latest months Wsr became better and better in WvW. We started to get numbers and then… woehoe free transfers people transfered out and the other servers became bigger. it makes people just wanna go back to pve ( and probably stand afk somewhere ) cause u can’t do anything about it. Very frustrating if u see a 15+ group taking hills and u are all alone on the map. Makes me just wanna de-install the game and search for something else.

U don’t have to be a genius to know that the result of this free transfers is simply screwing lower tier servers.

But whatever. Like allways we can complain as much as we want they just don’t care…

And no i’m not transfering out …

Nah, Anet is making it to where everyone will be on the top tier servers. It is kind of a forced server merge (if you are a WvW focused player).

Wrong. A lot of PvE roamers are hoping servers as well to the high pop ones to get stuff done. A lot of the smaller servers can’t do the zerg-fest Living World releases done due to lack of manpower. A bunch of servers don’t even do your daily world bosses and metas. Can’t remember the last time there was an interest in doing the Tamin chain in Harathi or Ogre Wars on my home server, Ruins of Surmia. Apart from Dwayna being occasionally open, Orr seems forever contested. We already lost several guilds due to free transfers. One of which a sizeable WvW one. Went to WvW last night, there wasn’t even a queue on a Friday. We couldn’t even hold our own Borderlands as we were severely outnumbered! It costs 800gems to us, no one is coming here. Not with free transfers to Gandara, Blacktide and Underworld. Can’t blame them either. At this point Vabbi is doing better, while they are currently known as the smallest server in EU. Quite curious how server population is counted by Anet, cause as the listings stand I’m pretty sure it’s counting a lot of the inactive playerbase, ones that chose a server when buying the game and haven’t played for ages.

Unfortunately with the season, people are going to bandwagon onto one server and get the rewards. To be honest I believe Blacktide & Gandara is that bandwagon server. It is unfortunate to see that happen to poor Whiteside.

I was on Whiteside, but I left earlier because of other reasons. I still keep in touch with my friends from there , and help out in the ways I can. I do wish you guys luck in the season.

Yes, the best example is HoD at the moment. They have 4 queues during the week, which I believe no other server (not sure about FA) has in the silver leagues. The worst things are the fixed gem prices when the “tournament” starts. Transfering to HoD will be still cheaper than transfering to any other server.

I really wish they would change the price weekly, according to how the server has finished the weekly match and how many new people the server has gotten. I see the point that the lower server in the league need support to have a better chance against the higher tiers, but this price politics turns a “fair” tournament to the opposite in my opinion.

I actually think that the only servers who should have free transfers are bronze tier servers. I say this because there are a few in bronze who are free transfers and there are some that aren’t. This is killing bronze for a lot of people, for example, the last reset FC (my server) was put against AR and DR. We were all excited for a good match where the numbers were even and prime times were similar, but in comes boat loads of free transfers to DR. The first day we were all within about 1-2k points of each other and the weeks WVW could go either way. The next day (I got off at about 2AM and got back on at about 3PM) DR had pulled ahead by 10,000 points due to the massive amount of oceanic transfers they got because their server is free to transfer to. Now only FC and AR are close in score, while every night DR moves ahead by about 10K more points. It’s crazy. Granted FC has gotten a few good WVW guilds due to a cheaper transfer price, BUT the oceanic players just flooded DR and have now unbalanced everything. I just think it’s a bit crazy is all.

Dr was in the 24th spot back in December. We had lived through three major exoduses of WvW population. We had climbed to tier five and finished the fall. We rebuilt a foundation of positive game play, coordinated leaders, open communication and improved game play. Together those things created an environment people chose to move to. Trust me when I say we have empathy for servers losing population to transfers. We have survived it and you can to but it took us months to recover.

Yup the free transfers haven’t really been kind to us on SF, FC,DH since we are in an awkward spot of having more people than t8 and yet still being low pop servers. Wish they didn’t make 13-15 free transfers at least. Why pay to go to a rank 16-19 server when you can stack on rank 13 or 20.

It should have only been free to transfer to a server if it was ranked lower than your current server, I think the bottom 3 servers, on NA at least, lost a lot more than they gained from free transfers. Most people just moved up to the highest rank free server and now there are at least 2 servers where the WvW population can be counted on a single hand at certain times.

This. No offence to those who made the decision to transfer beforehand but now everybody else is inclined to join the bandwagon and thus create more queue problems.

It means there’s going to be a dilemma and may bring drama to a community when it could be easily avoided with a better account for WvW populations and a better Pre-Tournament transfer system on Anet’s behalf.

It’s not as much DR’s nightcrew even. AR’s OCx still can tick higher than theirs. It’s the daycrew. We both (AR and FC) have a large gap during noon to 6-7 pm est (don’t know what tz that is) which DR can exploit to get a large lead. Go look at mos, it’s no secret last week we almost beat DR but the last few days their daycrew pvdoored their way to victory … it’s the same thing this week. Overall the numbers don’t seem different it’s just a bunch of propaganda about them getting massive xfers because I honestly don’t see that much of a difference between this week and last week in terms of OCX and NA prime (unless the new transfers aren’t in wvw).

Maybe it’s just me or they avoid us idk I could be wrong but that’s my observation

Their day gap has gotten bigger … there’s a joke in our guild that DR players are going to lose their jobs because they stay home from work to ppt.

If it’s daytime, it’s problably during late SEA or Euro timezones…

It takes time to integrate new forces, organize leader coordination, styles and enhance a overall force. Numbers make a difference of coverage. Organization makes a difference in effectiveness. We have received some good transfers both individual and guilds. In time there will be an increase in effectiveness.

A lot of that is correct but I also know about a few embellishments on your server forums as well so I know how you guys are (don’t get me wrong it’s a great morale tool)

It’s nothing against you and I’m not arguing because you did get people but to the gamechanging degree you claim … that remains to be seen

either way, it’s not like it matters more targets don’t make any difference to us

I was a huge fan of the idea of Free Transfers! It cleans up the tier 1 and 2 servers, Revives the communities of lower tier WvW communities, and allows the players on a ‘Dead Server’ to move (should they choose to find a more competitive WvW community). Don’t know how anyone couldn’t be a fan of this! If ur complaining about this idea than the community of the Server your playing on has NO backbone in it!!!

What happened to long queues being an incentive for players to move to lower-tiered servers? EotM, which made the queues more bearable. To be honest, I’m not sure what ANet really wants because they made it sounds like they wanted to give players incentives to disperse but they keep giving players incentives to stack to win.

I bought guild wars 2, I looked at the top ranking server (Jade Quarry), and I joined it. Not sure why everyone didn’t do the same.

Because its a misconception that rank = skill, if anything the top ranks have less skill because its purely a numbers/coverage game. Yes I have played up there and yes I found the general game play as far as player skill lacking. Enjoy your stay on JQ have fun mashing 1.

As long as you have to pay 200g to move anywhere its going to be really unfair for some servers. I still miss the time when there was free transfers everywhere. And not to bandwagon to the winning servers i didn’t do that. I just liked to play on different servers and there is not 1 server that play the same way. In my server the meta is running hammer warriors its getting pretty boring and its so easy even cof is harder.
In primetime we can get some good fights.
That’s pretty much the only time i play it anymore.
Our server have plenty of coverage in fact i think its too much.
We wipe their main zerg 2 or 3 times and they give up then it become boring again.
Give outmanned buff bots that fight for them or double hp or something.

Actually there is nothing unfair about it, if your in dire need of transfers you will free fall to an affordable price, if your stuck in the 200 gold range … you do not need transfers. If you happen to be one of the bottom 3 for gold and that is what your issue is, you still do not need transfers, blame Anet for allowing the stacking and then increasing the server caps to let them stack more.

To summarize, you do not need transfers, server’s should never have been capable of stacking to the point that they are (again this would not have happened without increased caps).

Bottom line is those T1 servers would not have the constant coverage to dominate the T2 server’s if server caps were left in place. 100% ignorance and lack of fore sight on Anets part.

I don’t buy that crap. Why did everyone leave SBI when it was a t1 server, before free transfers ended? It sure wasn’t because they didnt’ find a home there.

Why did FA just lose a lot of guilds right before the season started? Not because they didn’t have a home.

It is easy to be one of the top 3 servers, and talk about people transferring like it is no big deal, but it is for all the servers below you. You have no idea how many communities have been fractured over the past year due to transfers in and out of servers. Because you are in the top 3, you seem to be a destination for a lot of the transfers, and even the people in t1 that transfer are to other t1 servers.

SoR just felt the pain of losing almost everyone, SBI, and several other servers have gone through that before. Ebay was hit hard to. It wasn’t because people didn’t have a home, it’s because when times get rough, people just jump ship. Some days I wish their were sharks in the water.

I’m from WSR, We had people moving out coming back for our PvE serverwide events because “wsr is their home” but at the same time “they want to try something different in WvW”

Anyway, since preseason transfer are over (or almost), we can draw some conclusion from our small server POV

As a server, I’d say that transfers pretty much equalized between in and out. To be honest, we have lost more people before the free transfer period started.

Few days ago it seemed worse, but actually we found a few coming back (either transferring back or resumed playing) and some addiction.

Be aware that at our level (T8/9) even a single dedicated WvW guild makes a difference.

Anyway, I’m not upset of how things went. It could have been worse.

On the other hand, we can’t oversee the fact that other servers were severely affected by the transfers:
1) Gandara had so many (free) transfers that the average of this week matchup is 515- 100 – 80. JS.
2) Blacktide was losing against us last week after 2 weeks in a row they were behind, after that this week they have won a matchup against a server 280 points ahead in rating! Also BT used to suffer a lot nightcapping, now they are dominating on that aspect. I also suspect that Dzagonur has lost players, but I can’t confirm that. They could also just taking a break before tournament.
3) Vabbi is crushing Underworld and Fissure of Woe. According to what I’ve learned, this is a combination of Vabbi having transfers and the other 2 bleeding almost to death.
