I see that a free trial account is being offered.

It strikes me that someone could use one of these to enter WvW via another server.
Thus allowing them to destroy siege, golems, give false scout info, pass intelligence to their ‘home’ and generally create havoc.
I’m not even sure if it’s officially regarded as griefing. I can’t see anything in the ToS about it and some might say it’s legitimate warfare.

That’s always been a possibility with a ‘paid’ account – if someone wanted to spend the cash – but this is FREE.

It’s just for a few days… honestly, most people interested in doing the activities you mentioned are already doing them.

But:-
I just went into WvW today and we’ve got huge quantities of siege built inside store depots in the keep and in all of our towers. It’s placed where it can’t be of any use to anyone (even to hit our own doors).
It’s clearly been placed by someone intent on wasting as much supply as possible and pushing us up to the siege limit everywhere.

So, I told you so.

If trolls are going to do it for a weekend every three months, report the account and move on.

If two days of people trolling WvW every few months gets you bent out of shape then I really suggest you get some fresh air. This isn’t a big deal and it’s not like there aren’t people that already have multiple accounts for exactly this purpose.

At least our trolls are building trebs .. mind you seven of them at the supply depot is a bit of overkill, but they still can be used.

It’s like a small forest of trebs all over EB in every tower and keep.

TC right now has had 4 grievers going around the borderlands. They come in, suicide golems, give false information, and build loads of rams to drain the supply. All are upleveled players with mostly bad/obvious troll names.

Honestly, if anet is going to keep doing fre trials, they have to find a way to actual stop grievers in WvW. Free players grieving paying players is never a good model, especially if it is never stopped.

Reporting the account seems to do NOTHING. I remember in the past people would report the troll, and yet days later the person is still there, after lots of people report, with pictures, etc. Anet rarely seems to ever enforce anything in WvW.

So, if its only periodic for a couple days every few months, wtv…but if its a stepping stone to them offering long term free periods (like free to a max level of 20, etc), then they’ll have to start to actually enforce grieving in WvW.

Same thing happened in EBG of TC. 4+ grievers spent 4k of our supply on random siege and wasted 20+ of our golems by jumping them off the 3rd floor of SMC. They turned our trebuchets 180 degrees and fired them to indicate positions where the enemy can fire their’s to take our’s out.

How do we know they are from the other server (FA)? They openly admitted it on map chat just to kitten us off even more. This went on for several hours. Luckily that server is horrible and still can’t beat us even when they resort to these lowly tricks.

The problem is that this really ruins the experience for all the players, and I hope anet does something about these free weekends for WvW.

I just don’t get it why someone even bother to spend their time wasting supplies. It is rather funny though, walking into would-be Sherwood Forest.

IMO the advantage drawing in fresh blood out weighs the few kitten-holes who abuse the system.

We had a few FA spies come into EBG and troll people over the weekend. They admitted they were spies/trolls, and I actually thought it was pretty funny. I reported one of them for spamming because he wouldn’t shut up with the all caps spam, but the rest were just trolling and making the “too serious” players very irate and angry. I can’t help but respect a good troll. xD

If Anet was really concerned about the impact of throwaway level 1 trolls on their 2nd account or trial period all they need to do is up the level requirement required to zone into WvW.

I don’t think this would be very good, because then there will be a huge debate about what level it should be, etc…I know several people who leveled entire characters from 5-80 using only WvW.

Another option would be for them to have a couple of employees (or even player-employee’s like there are in some game) who would act as GMs. Whenever there is multiple reports of certain people grieving on a map, they could pop in, see whats going on. Most of the time it only takes a few minutes to see what’s happening. This would result in fairly quick action.

This. Raising the level cap for entering WvW is a terrible idea. Personally; if it weren’t for queues and having to hunt for skill points I would probably never leave WvW.

that would be the ideal solution to several problems, but….. it would mean they would have to actually pay attention to WvW every now and then. so while it IS the ideal solution, it’s highly unlikely it will ever happen. or at best they’re “looking into it” (someone at their office read the thread once) and we can expect it to happen “soon” (2046)
