Personally, I doubt it. I also doubt that they’ll ever look at their metrics. The silence for months has been telling. I’m just not sure what they gained by moving it to Saturday – unless they wanted unsatisfied customers?

As above mentioned, they havent gained anything – their main excuse was to have time to fix bugs for reset, an argument that never made any sense whatsoever (why not have it thursday instead then?). Little other explanation have been given. Looking back to HoT release until now, it would also be a complete and unmitigated disaster in this regard. They did nothing with saturday reset.

Moving reset back to friday would be a peace offering to the community but nope.

They gained not messing up reset night due to patches. A short time before reset got changed there was a patch 10 minutes after wvw reset and a thread pop up shortly after of a bunch players were complaining about patches on reset night. So you see they moved it because of all those that complained about a patch on reset night that only happened once in a blue moon.

I haven’t made many resets since the change though so I do wish it would be changed back.

That change, along with the new borderlands are terrible mistakes, hope they understand that soon.

I certainly hope so. Missed less than a handful of resets since launch on Fridays. Missed all but one since they moved to Saturdays. Of course they said they’d put orbs back in when they balanced those, and here we are.

Give them back their Friday’s, then tell them not to kitten if there’s an update.

Problem solved.

I would love to see their metrics because I simply cannot believe that this had a positive outcome for the player count.

Friday is THE night for gamers ANet. Saturday is party time.

It is sad how pretty much every decision ANET made for the HoT WvW release was wrong. The current WvW team is really poor. I’m scared about how they are trying to mess up WvW even more with the overhaul.

I have come to prefer Saturday resets. I did not like it at first but it has grown on me.

Why? Generally in the old system the last couple of nights (thursday night through friday and reset were dead. The outcome could already be determined and people would play Thursday , KNOW next day a work day, see they were too far behing to catch up to the server above and quit.

Now I can get home on a firday night and know I can stay up late all night If I wished and push those final hours seeing if the gap can be closed by reset. The entire night and better part of a day ahead of me if I so wished.

So any chance of changing back the traditional Reset to Friday, instead of Friday night being usually a ktrain night for us?

I’ve gone back to tagging on Friday nights, reset or not – Saturdays are just no good for me. We get home from work, kick back and Monday is far enough away not to worry about. Saturday resets have sometimes been a bit meh, people log earlier because they don’t want to be wrecked for Monday, have things to do on Sunday or just can’t make it. Half the weekend is now just ktrain.

Would love Anet to change this back.

I would love reset to be switched back to Friday. Perfect night, end of the work week, hang out, drink some beers and fight.

OP, that would involve Anet communicating effectively and keeping an open door policy. This is something they just simply can’t do due to stubbornness and unqualified staff given the past 3 years. They need to start contracting out their work, the current staff just isn’t meeting the industry standards.

The official excuse was HoT release and getting one extra day to fix broken things when they go live on fridays (ie patch activations).

The problem with this is that WvW rarely suffered this, because there are nearly zero weekend events. When there are, Anet doesnt fix it (see golem week). HoT release was big true and all of us would have accepted a few weeks of delayed resets. But Anet kept WvW in a broken state anyway so that excuse also falls hilariosly flat.

In short, the reason they changed reset is sPvP tournaments and PvE events because kitten WvW.

While losing Friday was bad, the real loss is all day Saturday. Half of every weekend gone, it’s added to the feeling of pointlessness in the score. Most matches being a foregone conclusion by Monday.

Under the old system we at least could have the illusion of hope all weekend.. Now Sunday night comes too soon. Saturday and Friday mattering not at all.

Anet, very poor planning and sloppy communication as usual.

We moved resets to Saturday because sometimes we do a build on Fridays and just about the time we wanted to activate the build was during the reset time. So we thought it would be better if there was no conflict in the timing of those things. Since people love Friday, but we might do a build on Friday, we need to talk about exactly what time of day would be good for the community, and then adjust based on that.

Then, if I’m not mistaken, it was moved to SAT 01:00, which would have been 19:00 UTC-0600(FRI). Now it’s 01:00 SUN, so it would fall at 19:00 UTC-0600(SAT).

I would not be opposed to them moving it back to 01:00 SAT – which would be FRIDAY 20:00(8p) Eastern, 19:00(7p) Central, 18:00(6p) Mountain, 17:00(5p) Pacific…

Friday reset was 18:00-19:00 GMT EU time depending on winter/summertime (though I may be an hour off, GMT confuse me). The move to Saturday was 24h forward.

So yes, it was always on a Friday.

I was being technical, UTC/GMT is the LEAST confusing time because it never changes. kitten US and it’s Standard time VS Daylight Savings Time BS (and anywhere else that does that crap)! THAT is what makes “time” confusing. But to be technically correct, no, reset NEVER was on a Friday. It has always been SAT, either 00:00 or 01:00, now SUN 01:00… Now thanks to bullkitten xST -vs- xDT yes, you may have to adjust an hour up or down! But reset has always been SAT 00:00 or SAT/SUN 01:00 – always…

Also, servers (at least any server professionally set up) ALL run on UTC/GMT time. No matter their physical location…

Also, I personally find 12 hour format confusing as hell too. What the hell is “noon” 12a or 12p . Which is midnight. 24 hour format is VERY simple and straight-forward. If you say “6-oclock” and leave out the A/P, WTF – * confusion * LOL But if you say “6” or “18” there’s NO confusion. Also, noon is 12, midnight is 00/24 – easy peasy!

Now if only all people could get used to UTC/GMT and 24 hour format – “time” would be effortless

Here’s another example: right now the US is on “xST” or “standard time”, so reset is SAT 20:00 EST/17:00 PST – when the clocks switch over to “daylight savings time” – UTC/GMT didn’t change, your local time changes and now reset “becomes” 21:00 EDT/18:00 PDT >.< BUT – reset time did NOT actually change, it’s STILL resetting at exactly 0100 SUN!

I’m ALL for ditching this BS “daylight savings time” crap. The lovely state of AZ doesn’t do that crap (can’t wait till I move there!)

ETA: I speak specifically of the NA servers, not the EU servers…

The reason they changed reset, was because they had to shut down WvW before HoT, it’s time they changed it back to Friday, almsot everybody misses Friday Resets.

Well, again, you mean SAT resets – but yes, I get your point. I personally guess I also don’t see that it really necessarily matters what day it’s on. It’s going to happen once per week no matter what time it falls on. It could be WED at noon for all I care, or TUE at 03:30, or THUR at 12:34, or MON at 16:48 LOL!

But a FRI reset would mean a “THUR reset [to you]”; just as a “SAT reset” means “FRI reset [to you]”.

I would not be opposed to them moving reset back to SAT @ 01:00…

If you really want to wander off on irrelevant technical tangents, the servers used to run Pacific time so technically reset was Fridays in the Pacific timezone. :[

I remember them saying that they wanted to make the end of a match more meaningful. It really doesn’t. Friday has become the new ktrain Thursday.

The real issue, like you said, is how it makes half of every weekend gone and adds to feelings of pointlessness. Weekend halved!
